Hiking is a popular recreational activity the world over, but it is not without its hazards. Common injuries include broken bones, cuts and abrasions, and dehydration. Being informed about risks is the best way to prevent these injuries, but not every novice hiker will be. There needs to be a way for even the most inexperienced hiker to be empowered to gain this knowledge and feel confident in their safety in the great outdoors.
The Safepak:Safety In Day Hiking
Can I survive a night outdoors?
Can I respond properly to an Accident?
Essential Survival Questions:
The Mountaineers Association survival essentials also stress that a person should be both mentally and physically pre-pared for dire circumstances. This includes having the right gear prepared for situations that may occur

Design Principles
Product should address
emergency concerns
Product should not add much
weight or bulk
Product should be
approachable for all users
Moving forward from the design principles, I decided what the final product would ideally be. In the end, the best way to apply these principles was to create a backpack that could hold and become a brace and help with immediate first aid problems.
Mock Ups
The first part I chose to mock up was the zip-off first-aid kit. The idea that things were easy to grab was proven at this point.
The next mock-up that I tested was the idea of a frame that splinted sprains and breaks on the trail. The mock up proved that it was possible and fairly comfortable.
Idea Development:
Sketching
Once the final direction of a bag was settled on, sketching the final features and forms began.
The Final
Going into this project, I had minimal sewing machine experience and had to re-learn much of the skills to complete the project. The model turned out better than I had hoped and I gained confidence behind the pedal of a sewing machine. The Final model turned out successfully and included all the parts that I had intened on including.
Fiskars is a longstanding brand in the craft and gardening industry, but what if they were to breakinto the kitchen? This project was an explorationof that question.
Fiskars branded cookie decoration supplies:
Goal: to create a system of cookie decoration tools that show the creative side of Fiskars home line, while empowering the user an easy baking and decorating experience and facilitating cleanup and storage when they are done being used, all while focusing on innovation, function, and design of the product.
Fiskars is an established, middle or the road brand and the product should have a price point between 10 and 20 Dollars
Sketching
I toyed around with many different types of pens and squeeze bottles before moving on to 3D printed models.
I focused on how the icing would the tool would be filled, how easy it is to use and squeeze, and how to alleviate cleanup struggles.
Sketch modeling and form refinement.
I toyed around with many different types of pens and squeeze bottles before moving on to 3D printed models. I then printed the profile that I liked the most and tested it in my hands to make sure it worked and was comfortable to use.

The Final
The final product is branded with a softer, more muted version of the Fiskars orange It includes a translucent body that allows the user to see what color icing is being used and comes with a funnel that lets the user easily get their desired icing into the tool. The main touchpoints (back pump, front grip, and trigger button) are all in the orange color to signal that the user is to grip there. The components easily disassemble and are all top-rack dishwasher safe to save time and energy in cleaning up sticky icing.
Laundry Day
Transporting clothes to a Laundromat is inconvenient, especially for those without a car. The products on the market today are incredibly awkward, unwieldy, and offer little in the way of sorting. Most take two hands and a good deal of strength to carry.

People in Cities
According to IBISworld.com, laundromat usage is mainly focused in these four groups.

The Final
The final solution is a system the allows the user to either wheel or carry their laundry to the laundromat on their back and lets them sort different loads of laundry into separate slots as their clothes are worn
The cover on top of the cart protects laundry from the elements and can serve as a place to fold clothes in a crowded laundromat.
This is a collection of smaller, shorter projects that I have completed during my education
Smaller Projects
Easton Hockey Skate
Modeled in Solidworks and rendered in Keyshot, this project was focused on better my skills with complicated organic forms in 3D modelling.
Top Down Modeling: Drill
Modeled in Solidworks and rendered in Keyshot, this project was modeled using the top-down method and assembling the final model with a Solidworks assembly.
Smart Desk for Stress-Free Studying
Part of a larger collaborative group project, the smart desk was built with studying in mind. It locks and unlocks with the swipe of a student ID and has a recessed storage space for phones so they are not a distraction while the user is working hard. The desks are connected to a mobile applicationnand can beb reserved. The frosted glass on the sides promotes the feeling of togetherness with others without scarificing person space and the light wood and tree shape of the legs connects the user to nature, thus reducing the stress of getting things done.

Illustration Work
I often find myself tasked with the creation of works for the band program at Ohio State, and as such have done a lot of illustration and T-shirt design work for the program, as well as for my position at the Media, Marketing, And Communication Scholars and for school work.
