Students have excelled on the sporting field with six students either being selected to represent or have represented at state level. On the academic front students have participated in the Young Communicator Awards and Premier’s Spelling Bee. The ‘Active After-school’ program has been very popular, and band and choir students continue to rehearse on a regular basis. Students in the band will be performing at the Town Hall on Tuesday 9th October with the Chatswood and Warialda High School Bands. Thank you to everyone for their support in having children wear suitable and safe footwear to prevent injuries to the feet of students. Our staff changes for next term are minimal with Mrs Carey returning from leave. She will replace Mrs Hancock. I would like to thank Mrs Hancock for her dedication, diligence and the fantastic work she has carried out with her class. I would also like to thank Ms Hitchcock for the excellent work she has undertaken on her practicum. Four students at Regional Spelling Bee Final Four students represented our school at the regional finals of the Premier’s Spelling Bee. There were about 30 competitors in each age division. Kruze Smith went through to the 2nd round, Emma Hall the 3 rd round and Rosie Mayne the 4 th round. I do not have any results from Sarah Miller as she is away today. Congratulations to these students on a fantastic achievement. 60 & 80 Merit Reward Activities Congratulations to the students who have continually made positive work and behavioural choices and were eligible to attend our 60 merit activities on Tuesday and 80 merit activities on Wednesday. The 60 merit reward was a movie and pop- corn afternoon and 80 merit students were invited to activities in Captain Cook Park with Ms Taber and Mrs Hancock. Next week there will be an Amazing Race for stu- dents who have not been in the time-out room over the last 5 weeks. Coffs Harbour Excursion A vast majority of students from Years 3 and 4 will travel to Coffs Harbour on Monday to experience activities and environments different to Warialda. Their first stop will be at the National Park at Dorrigo where student will view the rainforest from the tree top walk and then walk through the understory. They will then travel to the Coffs Conference Centre where they will have a swim and set up their bunk rooms before going 10 pin bowling. Our coach leaves at 7.00am on Monday morning and we will pick up Delungra students at about 7.20am. Bingara Horse Sport – overall 3rd Miss Withers accompanied a team of ten students to Bingara last Friday to compete at the Bingara School Horse sports. Charlie Horn (8yrs) and Isabella Reardon (9yrs) were the highest point scorers in their age division. Will Mayne (8yrs), Rachel Coulton (9yrs) and Mitchell Mack (12yrs) were the runners up in their respective age divisions. Congratulations to these students. Warialda Public School came 3 rd overall out of 13 schools.
