Dit portfolio bevat een samenvoeging van de hyperego van Mischa Piepers. Een hyperego is de manier waarop men zich profileert binnen het metaversum. Het metaversum is een virtuele wereld waarin mensen, als avatars, met elkaar interac-teren. Alle media waarmee een gebruiker zichzelf uit voegen toe aan de hyperego. Dit portfolio is een poging om al deze media te integreren en vorm te geven binnen één enkel medium; een papieren portfolio.

This portfolio consists of the combined hyperego of Mischa Piepers. A hyperego is the way a person profiles himself within the metaverse. The metaverse is a virtual world where people, as avatars, interact with each other. All media used to express yourself add to the hyperego. This portfolio is an attempt to integrate and give shape to all of these media in a single medium; paper.

Voorwoord

Internet is de toekomst. De ontwikkelingen hierbinnen zorgen voor steeds meer mogelijkheden in alle verschillende sectoren. Op dit moment zijn er nog vele verschilende websites aanwezig waarop men laat zien wat hij/zij allemaal kan. Het zal niet lang meer duren voordat hier convergatie binnen plaats vind en het langzaam één website wordt. Dit portfolio is deze ontwikkeling voor door het al samen te voegen voordat de ontwikkeling op het Internet plaats heeft gevonden.

Dit portfolio is ontwikkeld om de volledige uiting van Mischa Piepers op zowel online als offline kanalen zichtbaar en bereikbaar te maken. De keuze voor een tweetalig portfolio lag voor de hand. Internet is internationaal georiënteerd. Multimediaal materiaal kan via het Internet verstuurd worden waardoor er geen beperkingen zijn voor het bereik van gemaakte producten. Dit vergroot het aan-tal contacten.

ForewordInternet is the future. The developments in this sector see to more pos-sibilities within other sectors as well. At the moment there are still many different websites where users can express themselves on different levels. It will not be long till a convergence takes place and then all these web-sites will turn into one single website. This portfolio will beat this devel-opment by letting the convergence take place before it happens on the Internet!

This portfolio is developed to visualize the online and offline channels Mischa Piepers expresses himself. Also it is meant to make it more reach-able. The choice for a bilingual is obvious. Internet is orientated interna-tionally. Multimedia content can be sent via the Internet, removing the boundaries of reach. This increases the number of contacts.

Uiting

Jezelf uiten kan op vele verschillende manieren. De meest gebruikte manier is gelukkig nog steeds orale spraak. Hier vind echter een schuiving binnen plaats. Chatten, e-mailen en microbloggen be-gint steeds populairder te worden en gebruikelijker. Hierbij hoef je geen orale teksten bij te gebruiken. Deze ontwikkeling gaat redelijk ver en laat goed zien hoe snel de wereld aan het veranderen is. De natuurlijke manieren van communiceren worden steeds minder gebruikt, en de voorkeur wordt gegeven aan de artificiele manier.

Alle verschillende manieren van uiten voegen toe aan hoe anderen je zien. Dit is tevens het nadeel en voordeel aan Internet. Alles wordt opgeslagen, en iedereen kan deze informatie opvragen. Om deze reden moet je goed oppassen met wat je allemaal op het In-ternet zet. Je kunt niet zomaar een vluchtige uitspraak doen zonder hierbij na te denken. Dat blijft je altijd achtervolgen! Aan de andere kant kun je wel heel makkelijk in jezelf uiten naar een heel groot publiek over de gehele wereld. Iedereen kan hierdoor zien als je iets bijzonders hebt gemaakt of gedaan.

Er zijn een aantal manieren waarop ik mezelf uit. Dit is te categor-iseren binnen verschillende soorten media. Elk van deze media hebben tevens hun eigen platform waarbinnen de uiting plaatsvind. Ikzelf ben lid van een groot aantal profielenpagina’s, waarvan ik er dagelijks een tiental gebruik. Deze belangrijke profielenpagina’s zal ik stuk voor stuk behandelen en vervolgens verwerken in hoeverre dat mogelijk is.

Dit onderdeel behandeld eerst de online uitingen, en vervolgens nog bondig de offline uitingen. Deze offline uitingen zijn lastiger te beschrijven omdat er geen tastbaar opgeslagen bewijs voor is, zoals bij de online uitingen wel het geval is.

Expression

Expressing yourself is possible in many different manners. Luckely, the most common manner still is oral speech. However, this method is shifting into something else. Chatting, e-maling and microblogging are more popular than ever and above all, more user friendly. These three methods can be used without oral speech. This development shows how fast the world is progressing. The common manners of communicating are being used less, and the preference goes to the artificial method.

All different methods of expressing add to how others see you. This also is the advantage and disadvantage of the Internet. Every little bit of information is saved, and everybody can request this info. This is exactly the reason why you have to be careful what you put on the Internet. You cannot just type some random thoughts without thinking; it will haunt you forever! On a marginal note, on the web it is possible to express yourself towards a very large audience spread across the world.

There are numerous methods of how I express myself. This can be categorized within different kinds of media. Each of these media have their own platform where the expression takes place. I have an account on a large amount of profilepages, out of which I visit a dozen each day. I will describe the most important websites one by one and include them to what extent possible.

This chapter treats the online expressions, and subsequently the offline expressions. The offline ones are more difficult to describe because there is no tangible filed proof, unlike the online expres-sions.

Online

Uiten op online vlak is heel anders dan op offline vlak. Hierbij richt ik me vooral op het selectief uiten. Door dit voordeel kunnen mensen zichzelf heel anders voordoen dan ze eigenlijk zijn.

Dit komt omdat de drempel veel lager ligt om iets te zeggen. Je kunt schuilen achter een bepaalde anonimiteit, en je ziet de reacties van anderen niet. Dit is ook meteen de reden dat veel mensen agressief worden of onaardige dingen zeggen. In het echte leven worden dit soort reacties veel minder snel geaccepteerd en dat weerhoud mensen ervan zo te reageren.

Internet is in mijn eigen leven heel erg belangrijk geworden. Zo be-langrijk dat ik denk ik niet eens meer zonder kan. Tijdens vakanties en dergelijke is het nog redelijk eenvoudig, maar dat komt omdat ik dan veel andere dingen te doen heb waardoor ik afgeleid word. Ik kan me niet meer voorstellen dezelfde levensstijl als vroeger te hebben.

Internet heeft eigenlijk zoveel voordelen ten op zichte van de offline wereld. Vaak doen mensen er een beetje simpel over, dat het contact tussen mensen hierdoor verslechterd. Ik ben zelf van men-ing dat online contact juist meer toe te voegen heeft aan een relatie. De wereld is aan het veranderen. Digitale informatie wordt gecom-bineerd met analoge informatie. De één kan niet zonder de ander, en dat hoeft ook niet omdat deze twee manieren van informatie elkaar aanvullen.

Dankzij het Internet is mijn contactencirkel verspreid over een grotere regio, en tevens is het contact met de contacten die het dichtste bij mij staan versterkt.

Er zijn verschillende manieren waarop ik mezelf via online kanalen uit. Deze ga ik echter niet allemaal behandelen in deze hyperego. Ik maak een selectie uit de verschillende kanalen om zo tot een professioneel geheel te komen.

Hierbij maak ik gebruik van het selectief uiten waar ik het eerder over had. Dit is niet om mezelf anders voor te doen dan ik eigenlijk ben, maar om anderen een professioneel beeld van mezelf te geven. Sommige privé zaken horen nu eenmaal niet thuis in een hyperego, en anderen weer wel. De selectie die ik hiervoor gemaakt heb is een keuze van een aantal bekende profielenwebsites waarop ik werk van mezelf plaats, of gedachten van mezelf neerzet. Deze lijst bestaat uit de volgende websites:

- Behance: deze website gebruik ik om gemaakt materiaal op te plaatsen. Hierdoor kunnen anderen mijn gemaakte producten zien waardoor ze een goed beeld krijgen van wat ik allemaal kan. - Blogspot: hersenspinsels en gedachten van mezelf plaats ik hierop. Op dit moment in combinatie met de minor die ik volg.- Flickr: gemaakt materiaal plaats ik hierop waardoor ik makkelijk kan doorlinken omdat Flickr erg toegangkelijk is en vaak samen-werkt met andere grote websites- Hyves: dit is een plek waar ik met mijn vrienden communiceer. Niet zozeer in professionele zin, maar het is wel een erg belangrijk onderdeel.- Last.fm: muziek die ik luister wordt hier opgeslagen. Muziek is erg belangrijk voor me, en ik luister het ook heel erg vaak.- Twitter: een microblogging website, waar kort verteld kan worden wat je doet, of waar je interessante websites kunt doorlinken.- Vimeo: Een professionele YouTube. In mijn optiek is deze website geschikt voor designmateriaal, en dat plaats ik ook hierop!

Online

Expressing youself on an online level differs greatly to the offline level. By this I’m focussing mainly on selective expression. This phe-nomonon enables people to pretend that they are someone else.

This is because the treshold of communicating is much lower on the online level. A user can hide behind a certain anonymity, and you can not see the reaction of the person on the other side. This is also the reason many people react more emotionally (mostly more agressive or by saying unpleasent things). In real life these kind of reactions are not accepted so widely and that prevents people of using them.

In my own life, Internet has become very important. So important that I believe I can not live without it. It is fairly simple during holi-days and such, but that is because I am occupied with all sorts of ac-tivities that distract me. I can not imagine having the same lifestyle as formerly (when I was younger and lived in an Internetless world).

Internet has many advantages with regard to the offline world. Often people think simplistic about this, that the bonds between people get worse. In my opinion communicating on an online level add a new dimension to a relationship. The world is changing. Digi-tal information is being combined with analogue information. One cannot exist without the other, and they do not have to because they complete each other.

Thanks to the Internet my circle of contacts has spread over a wider region, and also the contact with my closests contact has become stronger.

There are many different ways I express myself trough online chan-nels. I am not going to attend to them all in this hyperego. A selec-tion has been made to come to a professional completeness

To make this list I am using the selective expression I referred to earlier. This is not to pretend that I am someone else, but to make my image more professional. Some private affairs do not belong in a hyperego, and others do. The selection I have made is a list of a few well known profilewebsites where I post home made work, or put down toughts. The list consists of the following websites:

- Behance: I use this website to post home made work. Others can see these products and get a good picture of what I can do.- Blogspot: a website to put down thoughs. At the moment I am only using this in combination with the minor I am following- Flickr: same thing as on Behance, but Flickr is more accessible. Plus Flickr works well together with other big websites. - Hyves: I use this website to communicatie with my friends. Not professionally, but my friends are an very important part of my life.- Last.fm: listened music is saved on this website. Music is very important for me, and I listen to it every day.- Twitter: a microblogging website, where short messages about what you are doing can be placed, or you can link to interesting websites.- Vimeo: a professional version of YouTube. In my opinion this web-site is more suitable for designwork, and that’s why I post it on this website!

Behance Portfolio

Het logo onderaan de pagina zegt het al. Creative Portfolio. Het is een manier om je portfolio weer te geven op een van tevoren ge-maakte pagina. Geen gedoe meer om je eigen website te creeëren, maar de mogelijkheid om de opmaak van alle pagina’s te veran-deren.

Er kunnen verschillende ‘projects’ aangemaakt worden. Op deze project pagina’s kan alles toegevoegd worden. Afbeeldingen, tekst, en video. En elke pagina kan zoals binnen Photoshop bewerkt worden. Dit maakt het erg makkelijk om je werk te laten zien, en je hoeft helemaal geen verstand te hebben van programmeren en dergelijke.

Ik vind dat dat tegenwoordig ook niet meer hoeft, er zijn zoveel verschillende websites voor alle doeleinden, dat het overbodig is om nog je eigen website aan te maken waarop je werk laat zien.

Naast het portfolio deel kun je ook lid worden van verschillende contactcirkels. Je kunt op je profiel aangeven of je beschikbaar bent voor opdrachten, en zo kun je ontdekt worden en eventueel op-drachten krijgen. Er is ook nog een binnenste cirkel waarin je per-soonlijke contacten kunt tonen, en een vriendengroep kunt opbou-wen.

Behancemag is een initiatief met artikelen en tips met inzichten om ideeën uit te werken.

Behance Portfolio

The logo on the previous page explains it all. Creative Portfolio. It is a method to show your portfolio on a pre-designed page. No more fuzz to create your own site, just the option to edit the lay-out of the different pages.

On Behance it’s possible to create different projects. And you can add virtually anything on a project page. Images, text, and video. And you can edit the pages just like in Photoshop. This makes it extremely effortless to show your work. And the best thing; you do not require any programming skills to make these pages. It is all made visually within the web browser.

Making your own website has become redundant, there are so many different websites for all kinds of goals, that it has become unnecessary to create your own webpage to post and show your work.

Besides the portfolio you can become a member of different cir-cles. On the profile page there are different options to show your availability for assignments, this way you can be discovered and pos-sibly get some assignments. There also is a inner circle where you can add personal contacts, and create an group of friends.

Blogspot

De overkoepelende naam van deze gratis weblogs is Blogger. Het is een gratis weblog website, waarop je niet zoveel opties hebt als een eigen geïnstalleerde blog, maar wel genoeg om een eigen persoonlijke pagina te designen. Het voordeel hierbij is dat je geen eigen webruimte nodig hebt en informatie opgeslagen wordt op de servers van Blogger zelf.

Een weblog is heel handig om berichten op te plaatsen omdat het met een content management systeem werkt. Hierdoor worden de berichten automatisch opgeslagen in een database en kunnen ze heel makkelijk gesorteerd en weergegeven worden. Updaten kan heel snel gebeuren en dit is ook het doel van een blog. Er moeten snel nieuwe berichten toegevoegd kunnen worden.

Je hoeft hierbij niks te programmeren of te bewerken, aangezien er al vele stijlen en thema’s beschikbaar zijn om uit te kiezen. Hieraan kan heel simpel een eigen tekst of logo aan worden toegevoegd. Via het content management systeem kun je dit allemaal doen, en het gaat via knoppen in de webbrowser. Je ziet geen enkel stukje code en alles werkt binnen een interface die hetzelfde werkt als het navi-geren binnen andere websites.

Als je meer verstand hebt van designen kun je van een thema nog de CSS code aanpassen en hierdoor ook de positie van bepaalde elementen kunt aanpassen, of alles zelf schrijven en geheel je eigen pagina creeëren.

Het handige hiervan is dat je netzoals bij Behance zelf bijzonder weinig hoeft te doen. Je eigen content toevoegen is veel laagdrem-peliger

Ik gebruik Blogger zelf in combinatie met een weblog die ik aange-maakt heb voor de minor Digital Media Productions die ik volg. Alle activiteiten die ik onderneem in combinatie met de minor zet ik hierop. Dit op verschillende manieren, tekstueel of visueel of een combinatie daarvan, dat maakt niet uit.

Tijdens de minor neem ik deel aan veel verschillende activiteiten. Verscheidene beurzen worden bezocht, en besprekingen met ver-schillende opdrachtgevers bijgewoond. Ook onderzoeken we met de projectgroep wat de drie grootste interactietrends en –innovat-ies worden binnen user experience op het gebied van Internet in de komende vijf jaar zullen zijn. Hier komen veel resultaten uit en deze zet ik ook op de weblog.

Ik heb gezocht naar een stijl voor de weblog die goed paste bij wat ik deed. Eerst had ik een aantal banners gemaakt in verschillende stijlen om te laten zien dat het een weblog over design en nieuwe media is. Tijdens het project hebben we voor de projectgroep een stijl gemaakt die ik vervolgens geadapteerd heb voor de weblog. Het kleurenschema op de blog komt overéén met die van de stijl van de projectgroep.

Blogspot

The covering name of these free weblogs is Blogger. It is a free of charge weblog website, on which you do not have as many options as on your own installed blog, but enough to design a personal page. The advantage herewith is that you do not need your own webspace and the information/data is saved on the servers of Blog-ger itself.

A weblog is a very useful tool to place posts on, because it works with a content management system. Posts are saved automatically in a database and can be sorted and shown easily. Updates can be implemented quite fast and this is the purpose of a blog. New posts should be able to added fast without any hassle.

Making a weblog by using this method ensures that you do not have to program anything, since there are many different styles and themes present to choose from and apply to the blog. Customized logo’s and text can be added to personalize the page. These options are available trough the content management system, by clicking on a few buttons in the webbrowser. You do not see a single piece of code and everything works within an interface that works the same as navigating trough any other website.

If you have more designing aptitude there is a possibility to edit the CSS code of the theme. Due to this you can adjust certain elements, or you can start from scratch and design an entirely new page.

This is useful because, like Behance, there is little work for the users. The treshold for adding your own content is much lower and there-fore used more.

I am using Blogger in combination with a weblog I have made for the minor Digital Media Productions. I write short stories to post on the blog. The stories are about the activities I undertake in combina-tion with the DMP minor. The posts embrace different methods of sharing information. Visually and textually or a combination of these two.

During the minor I take part in many different activities. I visit vari-ous multimedia events, and have meetings with people from the working field. I am also part of a project group in which we conduct research on the three biggest interactiontrends and -innovations within user experience in the field of Internet within the coming five years. This is quite a mount full, but at least it is phrased SMART ;). The results of this research will be posted on the weblog as well.

I have sought for an identity for the weblog that fits with what I am doing. First, I made a few banners in different styles to make clear the weblog is about design and new media. During the research we have come up with a identity for the project group. I have adapted this identity for the weblog as well. The colorscheme on the blog corresponds with those of the identy of the project group.

Flickr

Deze website met deze aparte naam is eigenlijk één van de grootste fotohosting sites die er bestaat. Wat deze website zo goed maakt zijn niet de speciale opties die erop aanwezig zijn, maar het feit dat de Application Programming Interface (API) beschikbaar is voor ie-dereen. Hierdoor kan iedereen zijn of haar eigen applicaties maken en hierbij de Flickr database gebruiken.

Omdat er in deze database zoveel foto’s staan opgeslagen is er heel veel mogelijk met de applicaties. Bijvoorbeeld de tag browser van Airtight Interactive (http://www.airtightinteractive.com/projects/re-lated_tag_browser/app/). Hier kan een op een tag gezocht worden en de foto’s die deze tag hebben worden getoond. Ook zoekt de applicatie vanzelf gerelateerde tags op die in een cirkel om de eerste tag heen komen te staan. Zo is er een simpele manier van navigeren ontwikkeld die ook geschikt is voor een touchscreen interface.

De opties binnen Flickr zijn redelijk standaard, je kunt foto’s up-loaden en hierin verschillende mappen maken. Maar door de goede samenwerkingstechnieken is het erg gemakkelijk je content te delen met anderen.

Zelf gebruik ik Flickr alleen als opslag middel en zet ik er vakantie foto’s en dergelijke op. Ik maak geen design foto’s en ben niet thuis in de fotografie en doe er ook weinig aan, maar ik weet wel hoe een mooie foto eruit ziet ;).

Ik ben wel erg gevoeling voor mooie foto’s en versier de muren op mijn kamer ook graag met enkele meester-stukken.

Flickr

This website with the unusual name (in Dutch is means something offending) actually is one of the biggest existing photohosting web-sites out there. The website is not succesfull because it has many special options, but because of the fact that the Application Pro-gramming Interface (API) is open source. Thanks to this, everyone can make his or her own application using the Flickr database.

Because there are so many images stored in this database there are alot of possibilities for the applications. For example the tag browser made by Airtight Interactive (http://www.airtightinteractive.com/projects/related_tag_browser/app/). In this application you can search for a tag and pictures with this tag will be shown. Subse-quently the application searches for related tags that appear in a circle around the first tag, and they are clickable. When you click on one of these tags the circle appears again, with related tags to the clicked tag. Because of this a simple way of navigating has come into existance, which is suitable for a touchscreen interface.

The options within Flickr are fairly standard, you can upload images and make different folders for storing them. But the fine coopera-tion with numerous websites makes is extermely easy to share content with others.

I use Flickr only for storage and I have only put my holiday photos and such on it. I do not make any design photo’s and photography is not my thing so I hardly put any effort into it. But I do know what a good photo looks like ;).

I am very sensitive for nice looking photographs, and decorate the walls in my room willingly with some masterpieces.

Hyves

Deze social networking website is half schoolgaand Nederland lid van. Al deze social networking websites zijn eigenlijk hetzelfde, maar bij deze website is het veel interessanter omdat bijna al mijn vrien-den er ook op zitten. Dit maakt het communiceren met hen veel gemakkelijker.

Deze website gaat zelfs zover dat werkgevers sollicitanten eerst op-zoeken op Hyves voordat ze iemand aannemen. Ook is er een groot deel van je privacy weg, maar komt er ook een groot deel nieuwe contacten bij.

Alle standaard opties van social networking sites kunnen op Hyves ook uitgevoerd worden. Vrienden toevoegen, berichten sturen naar vrienden, korte berichtjes sturen, foto’s en filmpjes uploaden, en informatie opzoeken. Veel mensen houden elkaar in de gaten via Hyves, en hierdoor weten mensen soms dingen van je die je ze niet eens zelf verteld hebt! Dit is natuurlijk het gevaar van informatie online zetten, iedereen kan het zien.

Ik gebruik Hyves zelf om met mijn vrienden te communiceren, en dan voornamelijk op een grappige manier. Ook kun je makkelijk oude vrienden terugvinden en nieuwe mensen leren kennen...

Hyves

Half of the school attending dutchies are part of this social network-ing website. All of these social networking websites are, in fact, the same. But this one is more interesting because most of my friends are members as well. This makes communicating with them far easier.

This website is so popular, that employers check out the job-appli-cants on Hyves first before hiring them. A big part of your privacy is lost, but a large number of new contacts arise.

All of the standard social networking website options are available on Hyves as well. Adding friends, sending messages, sending short messages, upload and posting pictures and movies, and looking up information, it is all possible. Many people are keeping watch on each other trough Hyves, and because of this sometimes people will know things about you that you have not told them! This is ofcourse one of the dangers of placing information online, everybody can see it. I am using Hyves myself to communicate with my friends, and mainly in funny ways. It is also possible to find old friends or meet new people.

Last.fm

Eindelijk een website waarbij het gaat om de functie en niet alleen omdat er veel mensen lid van zijn. Last.fm is een site die een profiel maakt van de beluisterde muziek. Andere mensen kunnen precies zien wat voor muzieksmaak je hebt.

Alle artiesten staan opgenomen in de database en per artiest kun je alles zien. Hun albums, hun tracks, een biografie, foto’s, wanneer ze optreden, gelijksoortige artiesten en wie er veel naar luisteren. Door deze uitgebreide database is het eigenlijk de ultieme website voor muziek en alles wat ermee te maken heeft.

Tevens is er een radiokanaal aanwezig waarop je gratis muziek naar keuze kunt luisteren. Deze radiokanalen kan een gebruiker zelf start-en en zijn eigen muziek erin zetten. Maar er zijn ook radiokanalen waar alleen muziek voorbij komt van populaire artiesten.

De site is redelijk ‘smart’ door een lijst te maken van welke muziek je eventueel ook leuk kunt vinden. Verder kun je ook vriendenlijsten aanmaken en berichten naar elkaar sturen.

Hoe dit alles werkt is door een klein programmatje te downloaden dat bijhoud welke muziek je hebt opstaan. Deze informatie stuurt het programma naar Last.fm en deze update vervolgens de web-site. Elke week worden er grafieken gemaakt van welk nummer het meeste is beluisterd en welke artiesten het populairste zijn.

Bij andere gebruikers kun je zien in hoeverre de muziek compatibel is met de jouwe. Deze opties zijn allemaal heel handig om een goed beeld van jouw beluisterde muziek te tonen. En laat op een andere manier zien hoe je als persoon in elkaar zit.

Last.fm

Finally a website that is special due to it’s functions and not because of it’s large community. Last.fm is a site where you can make a pro-file of the music you listen to. Other people can see the progress of your musical taste due to this.

The database is filled with almost all existing artist, and for every artist you can see virtually everything. Their albums, their tracks, a biography, pictures, when they perform, related artist and their top listeners. This extensive database makes the website perfect for music and everything related.

There is also a radio channel present on which you can listen to free music. These radiochannels can be made by users itself and they can put their own music in it. But there also are radiochannels avail-able with music from certain populair artists.

The website is fairly ‘smart’ by making a list of music you might enjoy as well. This information is gathered from music others listen to. Furthermore you can make friendlists and sent messages to each other.

The music storing works by downloading a program that keeps track of the listened music. This information is send to Last.fm and being updated on the site. Each week the website makes graphs of the songs and artists most listened to.

There also is a compatibility meter to see if your musical taste fits with other users. These options are all usefull to show your own musical taste. And it shows what you are like as a person on a differ-ent level.

Twitter

Dit is een microblogging website waarop je korte berichten kunt achterlaten (140 karakters) om te vertellen wat je doet of om een leuke link door te geven. Dit is opzich niet zo bijzonder omdat ieder-een kan e-mail en sms-en. Wat het bijzonder maakt is dat je andere gebruikers kunt volgen en dan ook hun updates ziet. Tevens zie je ook alle reacties op die gebruiker en hierdoor kun je netwerken.

Netwerken is heel belangrijk want hierdoor leer je nieuwe mensen kennen en dit geeft kansen en mogelijkheden. Als je interessante dingen zegt tegen iemand anders, worden veel mensen ook lid van jouw twitter die je misschien een stageplek kunnen aanbieden of iets dergelijks.

Op Twitter is heel veel mogelijk, en ook al heel veel gedaan. Zo worden er regelmatig banen ‘weggegeven’, en zijn er zelfs al mensen via Twitter getrouwd. Dit klinkt je misschien heel raar in de oren, maar gezien de huidige Internet ontwikkelingen en gezien ho-eveel mensen achter internet zitten is het redelijk vanzelfsprekend. Zelf gebruik ik Twitter bijna alleen voor updates van anderen. Af en toe voeg ik mijn eigen Tweets toe, maar dit houd ik niet bij. Het is echter wel heel handig als je van bepaalde websites kunt zien welke updates er allemaal zijn opgekomen. Er zijn toch zo’n 30 mensen lid van mijn Twitter, die mijn updates volgen en zien wat ik doe en klik-ken op de links die ik geef.

Twitter

This is a microblogging website on which you can leave short mes-sages (140 characters) to let others know what you are doing, or to link to websites you have found. This on its own is not specials because nowadays everyone can send e-mails and text messages. What makes it specials is that you can follow other users to see their updates. You also see the reactions on their updates from other us-ers. This makes it very easy to network.

Networking is very important because in doing so you learn to meet other people and this gives you chances and possibilities. If you tweet interesting news, more people will follow you and they have internships and such to offer.

On Twitter the possibilities are endless, and many things have been done already. Regularly jobs are ‘given away’, and two users even got married at Twitter. This may sound wierd, but seen the current developments on the Internet en considering how many people use it, it is fairly self-evident.

I use Twitter mostly for updates from others. Occasionally I add my own Tweets, but I never keep up with this. Twitter is very able to keep track of updates from certain websites. There are about 30 people following my Twitter, they all read my updates en click the links I posts.

Vimeo

Deze website is een YouTube variant maar dan meer geschikt voor ‘designers’. Op dit moment staan er voornamelijk projecten op van studenten die hun werk willen laten zien. Niet de standaard ‘Ik val hahaha’ video’s die op YouTube te vinden zijn.

Ook heeft Vimeo een high definition optie en is de kwaliteit van de filmpjes veel hoger dan op YouTube. Dit alles maakt deze web-site perfect om mijn video’s op te hosten die ik voor mijn opleiding maak.

De site ziet er tevens veel gelikter uit, de speler werkt beter en hier is meer mogelijk mee. De speler verdwijnt als je niet met de cur-sor op het filmpje zit. Hierdoor heb je groter beeld en wordt je niet afgeleid door andere zaken.

Vimeo

This website is a YouTube variant but more considerate towards ‘designers’. At the moment most of the movies are projects from students that want to exhibit their work. Not that standard ‘omg he fell hahahah’ movies like on YouTube.

Vimeo also has a high definition option and the quality of the mov-ies is much higher than on YouTube. This all makes the website perfect to host my video’s that I make for school.

The site looks more polished, the player works better and there are more possibilities. The player disappears when the cursor is not on the movie. Because of this the screen is bigger and you can not be distracted by other matters

Concept waarbij we het negatieve beeld van Arnhem als grondslag gebruiken voor de animatie. Hierop is een tweede laag geplakt die het ‘Happy’ in Arnhem uit beeld. Het idee was om mensen verder te laten kijken dan de vooroordelen.

Concept where we have used the negative image of Arnhem as basis for the animation. On top of this we have added a second layer that shows the ‘Happy’ in Arnhem. The idea was to make people see further than the initial judgements.

Een test voor wat er mogelijk was in After Effects. Ik wilde lijnen langzaam laten ontstaan, en heb dit gedaan door een af-beelding in Photoshop te maken en deze daarna in After Effects te bewerken

Langzaam ontstaan de lijnen en dit geeft het effect van iets de langzaam groeit.

A test to see the possibiliteis of After Effects. I wanted to make the lines appear gradually, and have done this by making a im-age in Photoshop and editing this in After Effects.

Offline

Uiting op offline niveau is minstens even belangrijk als de online variant. Maar dit document gaat over de hyperego van Mischa Piep-ers en daarom is de offline uiting irrelevant. Dit hoofdstuk zit erbij om dat duidelijk te maken.

Uiting op offline niveau is eigenlijk alles wat je doet, en daarom ook zeer lastig om te beschrijven. Interactie me andere mensen, de manier waarop je praat, met wie je omgaat, wat je op school doet, hoe de relatie is met andere mensen, dit alles valt hieronder. Voor iedereen kunnen hier meerdere boeken over geschreven worden, maar dit is voor niemand behalve die persoon zelf interessant.

Offline

Expression on offline level is at least as import as the online variant. But this document is about the hyperego of Mischa Piepers and due to that, the offline expression is irrelevant. This chapter is added to make that clear.

Expression on offline level is just about anything a person does, and because of that extremely difficult to discribe. Interaction with other people, the way you talk, who you hang out with, what you do at school, the relationships you have with others, everything is part of this. For just about anyone multiple books could be written about this, but this is interesting only for the person the book is written about.
