I take this opportunity to congratulate the new “Editorial Team” for rd bringing forth the 3 Edition of the Frontline International Private School Newsletter, 2018-2019. Saleema Mahmoodi Principal As a principal it is important for me to value the higher expectations of everyone who steps in through our doors, staff, students and parents. This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun and nurturing environment. We thank and welcome you for being part of our learning community. It is the purpose of education to encompass a broad spectrum of experiences, so that the child may encounter or exclude those experiences necessary to fulfil the individual desire to explore and learn. Children are skilled in how to think critically. It is our effort which will help them explore and realise it. Through the School web portal we are highlighting the ongoing activities, the participation and achievement of our students in varied activities. This newsletter speaks volumes about their highly engaged and involved actions which are for everyone to see. I thank all the parents for their collaboration with the School in all the academic and co-curricular activities promoting the children to be involved productively with the spirit of healthy competition and sportsmanship. Maintaining personal hygiene is a vital element of living a healthy lifestyle in terms of personal, social and psychological aspects. Keeping a good standard of hygiene helps to prevent the spread of infections, illnesses and bad odours. FIPS organised the Health and Hygiene week to develop good habits for living a healthy life FIPS conducted Arabic Week this year. The aim was to encourage the love of Arabic language and to show appreciation and regard to the culture of the region. Students were also encouraged to participate in various competitions and activities to improve their language skills. FIPS Science Department organised the Science Week to develop students' critical thinking skills and interest towards scientific investigation. Students were involved in various activities that included innovation & higher order thinking skills and presented interesting projects. Ideally, teaching the scientific method to students is teaching them how to think, learn, solve problems and make informed decisions. These skills are integral in every aspect of a student's life, from completion of education to pursuing a career. Maths Week Technology plays a significant role in providing students a platform to build relationships b e t w e e n t e a c h e rs a n d students. It also plays a important part in making teaching and learning more meaningful and fun. FIPS organised Computing Week on the Importance of technology and conducted quizzes, puzzles activities and robo dance.

Books are the doorway to opening the mind to be enriched with new ideas, to develop vivid imagination and to further enhance literacy skills. Reading also helps to develop language skills and fluency, to enable us to express our thoughts and ideas and to quench the thirst for knowledge. FIPS did not want to miss the opportunity so we provided the students the chance to visit the Sharjah Book Fair. They participated in and performed different activities to give them exposure to different authors books which could help them to develop their literacy skills.

Students from FIPS participated in the I n t e r s c h o o l Q u r a n R e c i t a t i o n Competition. Participants were from different classes and age groups. We are proud to announce that Judi Mohammed Ibrahim Abou Elenein from grade 6G1

stsecured 1 place in the competition.

The UAE flag symbolises justicepeace, tolerance, power and moderation, under which all Emiratis live with unity & peace to ensure the security and stability of the expats residing in these regions. FIPS c e l e b r a t e d t h i s e v e n t enthusiastically and patriotically. Students from all the classes held the UAE flag with pride.

ndNational Day is celebrated on 2 December each year in the United Arab Emirates. It marks the UAE's Union Day between the Seven Emirates. The UAE National Day was celebrated in a patriotic way. The students at FIPS performed various activities and wore national dress, to show their love and respect for UAE heritage, cultural festivals

Group Drumming is an interactive, inspiring group experience that willbe remembered by all students and staff. It was indeed an amazing experience and the students thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it. The students who participated in this event were able to develop their rhythmic and motor skills.

st ndOn 31 January 2019, FIPS hosted its 2 Annual Sports Day, a day filled with passion and excitement. The day started off with the Inter House March Past, followed by Zumba exercises. This was followed by the highly anticipated athletic events, where the four houses eyed first place. The Leopards were

rdboth at 3 position. The games organised for parents saw an impressive and enthusiastic participation. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.

On this occasion, parents and teachers came together and met in a friendly environment, over a cup of coffee. They shared ideas and found out more about how they can contribute towards the development and growth of both the school and their children. The goal wasto share a common platform where they can contribute in every possible way to the life of the school.

Hands on and experiential learning is one of the concrete ways of teaching andlearning at FIPS. Our learners developed the concept of money handling in real life scenarios. A hypermarket was set up where students were shopkeepers and shoppers. Budget making, profit-loss and money handling were the objectives.of this activity. Along with learning, students enjoyed the concept of buying and selling goods.

Mother's Day is a special day of the year dedicated to all mothers. It is celebrated all over the world. Mothers hold a special place in the hearts of children. The students of FIPS were given an opportunity to show their appreciation for the role of a mother a day prior to Mother's Day.

English Literacy Week was celebrated th thfrom Sunday, 17 to Thursday, 28

February 2019. The goal of Literacy Week was to promote literacy and reading habits in the students of FIPS. Reading and writing is fundamental to function in today's society. FIPS conducted the event for Grades 1-7 including various activities such as character parade, debate, poems and one minute talk to encourage and motivate the students in developing and improving their skills in English.
