    Please ensure you read these Terms and Conditionscareully and understand them beore signing your nalacceptance o a place at the University o HudderseldInternational Study Centre (hereater reerred to as UHISC).

    The Terms and Conditions reerred to herein constitute theentire agreement between the parties and shall supersedeany and all promises, representations, warranties or otherstatements whether written or oral made by or on behalo one party to the other o any nature whatsoever orcontained in any leafet brochure or other document givenby one party to the other concerning such subject matter.

    The UHISC is administered and taught by a Study Groupcompany, Bellerbys Educational Services Limited,hereinater reerred to as UHISC. By signing these Termsand Conditions you give permission to participate in courserelated trips arranged by the UHISC.

    Application and confrmation paymentI the application is accepted, a written Oer o a Placewill be made. To accept this Oer a conrmation paymentis required comprising a non-reundable enrolment ee o150, 1,000 reundable security deposit and 500 inadvance ees. All oers are made subject to availability.Non-payment by the ee deadline may put your place atrisk. When a Conrmation o Acceptance o Studies,

    hereater reerred to as CAS, is requested a urther minimumpayment o the rst terms ees is required, in order or theCAS to be issued. (Please note in some cases you may berequired to pay three terms tuition ees). In the event o anocial visa rejection, only one urther CAS will be issued insupport o a second and nal visa application. Full ees mustbe paid in advance or a second CAS to be issued. UHISCreserves the right not to issue a second CAS i it deems therisk o visa rejection too great.

    The reundable security deposit is primarily held against anydamages and other incidental expenses, and i at the end oa course there are any monies let these can be osetagainst disbursements, otherwise an invoice will be issuedor any damages/disbursements in excess o the deposit.

    Any monies let will be reunded within 90 days o completiono the nal term less any deductions made or any amountoutstanding at that time. No other reunds will be made.

    Additional charges may be made or such items asaccommodation security deposits, bedding packs,accommodation specic insurance, Universityadministration ees and other sundry expenses. These itemsmay be charged either to your ISC student account or yourUniversity student account. Residential accommodation issubject to availability and early conrmation is advised.

    Cancellation and Reund PolicyThe ollowing charges apply or courses cancelled beorearrival in the UK where a CAS has not been issued or isnot required:

    8 weeks or more beore course start date =500 + 150 non-reundable enrolment ee

    Less than 8 weeks beore course start date =1,000 + 150 non-reundable enrolment ee

    Cancellations must be made in writing and the period ocancellation applies only rom the date upon which theUHISC receives the written notice o cancellation. Icancelling the course, students must also conrm i theyare cancelling StudyCare insurance.

    No reund will be given where a student obtained a validVisa or the intended course o study and is cancelling withno exceptional circumstances or where a Visa applicationwas reused due to severe negligence on student/agentspart, such as:

    Student submitting fraudulent documentation(as viewed by UKBA)

    Student unable to communicate with the visa ofcer onthe level o their SELT/Approved English test

    Student failing to submit a full/correct pack of supportingdocuments or their visa application, including correctnancial statements or originals o supportingdocumentation

    UHISC tuition eesFees are payable termly to the UHISC, one month beoreterm starts.

    Termly payment will be subject to any increase in tuition oraccommodation ees which may be announced during thecourse. Admission to classes is dependent on ees havingbeen received by the UHISC.

    Reasonable eorts are always made to keep ees to theminimum that is consistent with the provision o a modernand ecient teaching programme. However, ee increasesmay become necessary rom time to time in order tomaintain standards and will become eective immediatelythey are notied.

    I payments become overdue, the UHISC reserves the rightto suspend or cancel tuition and/or to charge interest on thebalance at the rate o 2% above the base rate o NatWestbank per month or part thereo.

    Fees remain payable i Notice o Withdrawal has not beengiven in accordance with these conditions.

    Provision o tuition

    Pre-arrivalThe UHISC reserves the right to withdraw programmes, ithe number o student applications or those programmesall below the minimum number required running theprogramme. Under such circumstances students will begiven the opportunity to either change their programme ostudy or withdraw rom the UHISC with no liability orcancellation ees.

    Once the student has commenced the course:The UHISC reserves the right to withdraw academicprogrammes i student numbers drop below the minimumnumber required to run the programme. I this occurs, thestudent will be oered an alternative academic programmeor enrolment at another ISC (visa regulations permitting).

    Undergraduate/PostgraduateProgramme Preparation FeeShould the student be successul in progressing to aUniversity o Hudderseld (hereinater reerred to asthe University) Undergraduate programme, an amountequivalent to 15% o that Undergraduate programmesrst years ees will be payable by the student to BellerbysEducational Services Limited as a degree programmepreparation ee. At the same time, the student will be

    entitled to receive a 15% discount rom the Universityin respect o its rst years ees. In cases o successulprogression to a Postgraduate programme, the gure willbe 1,500 in both cases. The student will pay theUndergraduate or Postgraduate programme preparationee directly through their rst years university ee.

    Academic criteriaStudents who do not yet meet university criteria orEnglish Language prociency will be expected to takean appropriate English Language course at the UHISC.

    Students are accepted into the UHISC on the strictunderstanding that progression through the course isconditional upon satisactory and required attendance andsuccessul attainment o prescribed perormance targets(available at www.hud.ac.uk/isc). Students are ormallyassessed at least twice a year. The assessment will takeinto consideration: Course work assignments Internal examination results Attendance Commitment to study

    Students who do not meet the attainment criteria will notbe allowed to proceed with their original course but will be

    oered an alternative course or invited to withdraw romthe UHISC without reund.

    Study plan changesAll students English and numeracy skills will be tested onarrival. Should the required standards not be met the centremay be required to alter the students study plan to onemore appropriate to their academic level. This may incuradditional costs.

    Personal insuranceAccident and Medical insuranceIt is necessary that all students have appropriate accidentand medical insurance. Students must either take out theStudyCare insurance policy or provide proo o adequatecover at enrolment. Cover under the StudyCare insurancepolicy does not commence until the insurance ees havebeen paid in ull.

    Personal belongings and contents insuranceWhile the UHISC takes all reasonable precautions toensure the saety and security o students on the campusand in their University-managed accommodation, theUniversity and UHISC cannot accept responsibility, andexpressly excludes liability, or loss or damage to studentspersonal property (including computer equipment andsotware), including any nancial or other consequentialloss, where such loss or damage is as a result o thet, re,food, computer virus or any cause relating to University orUHISC computing acilities, or any other cause, exceptwhere such loss or damage is caused by the Universitysor UHISCs negligence.

    Neither the University or the UHISC do not insure studentspersonal possessions and cannot be held liable or loss ordamage should individuals ail to arrange their owninsurance cover. All students are, thereore, strongly advisedto take out a contents insurance policy. I our StudyCareinsurance is taken out, loss or damage to personal propertywhich may occur is covered within the terms o the policy.

    BreakagesStudents are responsible or payment or any damagecaused by them to UHISC/University properties, includingxtures and ttings in accommodation. Occupants oshared accommodation are jointly and severally liable or theproper care o rooms, xtures and ttings and the Universityreserves the right to recover costs or damage orexceptional cleaning.

    Campus services not provided

    by the UniversitySome acilities, services or equipment are provided oncampus by third parties and not by the University (e.g. theHealth Centre, or the Students Union). Whilst the Universitywill endeavour to ensure that those acilities and services aredelivered to a reasonable standard, it can accept noresponsibility or the nature o, and reserves the right towithdraw or change such acilities, services and equipment.

    Withdrawal rom UHISCOnce a student has arrived in the UK, a minimum o oneterms notice (in writing) is required, or payment in lieu,whether or not the student continues to attend lessons.

    Students ollowing the English Language Preparation

    courses are enrolled to progress on to the academicprogramme assuming a satisactory level o English hasbeen obtained. The student must thereore give thestandard terms notice i they do not wish to progressurther at the UHISC.

    I withdrawal is due to reusal o a visa extension thenless notice may be accepted (at the UHISCs discretion)as long as ull written details are provided beore acourse recommences.

    Where withdrawal is due to illness, i the student hastaken out the comprehensive StudyCare plan insurancescheme (details o which are available on request), subjectto the terms o the scheme the student may be able toclaim a reund.

    Notice o withdrawal must be given in writing and is eectiverom the date it is received by the UHISC. Enrolment is orthe UHISC only and is non-transerable.

    Withdrawal/variation o degree programmesI, ater a UHISC applicant has indicated an intention toprogress onto a particular degree programme, but prior tothe student completing the UHISC programme, and theUniversity discontinues the nominated degree programme,the student may either: (1) withdraw without liability or eesother than the ee liability or the UHISC programme, or (2)transer to such other programme (i any) as may be oeredby the University or which the student is qualied. I in thesecircumstances the student wishes to withdraw rom theUniversity and enrols in a course at a dierent university,the University shall use its reasonable endeavours to assistthe student.

    Once the student has commenced the rst term omaster-level study, i:(a) the Universitys ability to deliver programmes or otherservices in accordance with the descriptions provided iscompromised by circumstances beyond the control o theuniversity (e.g. third party industrial action), the University willuse all their reasonable endeavours to minimise disruptionas ar as it is practical to do so;(b) the programme is cancelled or substantially varied romthat described in the prospectus or reasons other thancircumstances beyond the Universitys reasonable control,the University will use reasonable endeavours to provide asuitable replacement programme, but cannot guaranteeto do so. I the student does not wish to accept thereplacement programme, the student shall be entitledto withdraw rom the programme. In the event o suchwithdrawal the University shall make an appropriate reund

    o tuition ees. Depending on the point at which thewithdrawal takes place, the University reserve the right toretain ees or charges to cover the tuition or services whichthe student has actually received.

    Enrolment conditions or progress todegree programmeStudents are required as a condition o enrolment to payall ees due to the University according to ee status andpublished ee rates.

    Enrolment also entails the students agreement to abide bythe provisions o the University.

    The provision o a acility or service may attract an additionalcharge (i.e.: separate rom tuition ees). The University willmake this clear in advance. I a student contracts voluntarilyto receive an extra acility or service rom the University, butsubsequently ails to pay all or part o the agreed charge,the University maintains the right to withdraw the serviceand to recoup the outstanding charge.

    Accounts proceduresPaymentsPayment can be made to the UHISC by cheque, Sterlingbank drat, telegraphic transer or credit card. Please ensure

    that the students name and customer reerence are alwaysincluded on the transer document, indicating that thetranser is in respect o ees.

    Bank charges and commission or both the sending andreceiving banks should be paid by the sender o undsor they will be applied to the students account. Paymentby credit card is subject to a surcharge o 2%. Paymentby debit card is subject to a surcharge o 1. Accountscommunications will be sent both to the person responsibleor paying the ees and to the student unless writteninstructions are received to the contrary.

    Sundry ChargesAny incidental costs incurred on behal o the student willbe charged to their account, or example taxi charges, axcosts, eld trips, text books and vacation accommodation.

    ReundsReunds will only be made to the person responsible or theees unless written authorisation is provided to the contraryrom that person. Reunds will be made within 90 days othe end o the relevant term.

    Reunds are made ater calculating any damages ordisbursements due, or any other incidental ees or charges.Should the applicant decide not to pursue their place onthe course ater a CAS has been issued, no monies willbe reunded.

    AccommodationProvision o Accommodation

    Applicants who rmly accept an oer o a place andwho complete the relevant accommodation applicationprocedure by the published accommodation deadlineswill be housed.

    I you miss your start date or any reason, we reserve theright to change your accommodation.

    Length o Tenancy

    Students taking up accommodation will be required to signa tenancy agreement or a period which may include theChristmas and Easter vacations, i these all between thestart and end dates o their course. Students starting theircourse in January in certain types o housing may be askedto move to alternative accommodation or July and August.

    RentRents vary according to the type o accommodationoered. Rent is due as per the accommodation termsand conditions and students can choose to pay in theollowing ways:(a) the ull amount in advance; (b) in instalments.

    Room swaps and terminating a tenancyAlthough we do our best to allocate students to theirpreerred choice o accommodation, it is not possible tomeet everyones needs. The stock o accommodation isvaried and some areas are more popular than others. I astudent is unhappy with his or her room allocation, there isnormally an opportunity to swap later on. An administrationee will be charged or any room changes. I a studentdecides to move out o their accommodation or anyreason, he or she will be asked to pay a termination ee andwill be liable or rent until another acceptable student isound to take the room. Vacation accommodation is

    available on request. The appropriate ee will be added tothe students account.

    Behaviour in residencesAll residents are expected to behave in accordance withcommonly accepted rules o good behaviour and to abideby the clauses in the tenancy agreement. All students willalso be required to abide by and submit to the procedureso the Universitys or housing providers disciplinary rulesand regulations as amended rom time to time.

    Residents may be subject to disciplinary action and/or legalpossession proceedings i they breach the terms o theirtenancy agreement.

    Car parkingParking on campus is restricted. Charges apply to allstudents (and sta) who are allowed to park on campus.Students living on campus are not allowed to park oncampus unless they have a need based on a disabilityor a amily living with them on campus.

    PublicityThe student (and, where applicable, his or her parentor guardian):(i) agrees that the students photographs, videos, artwork or

    other works, as well as recorded or written testimonials anddetails o the students achievements (Student Images andTestimonials) may be used by Study Group, or by a thirdparty agent o Study Group, worldwide or promotionalpurposes including in its printed and online marketingmaterials and on any social media network without urtherconsent or notication; and(ii) gives consent to Study Group storing, or transerringacross international borders, copies o the Student Imagesand Testimonials or such purposes.

    Data protectionAny inormation provided to UHISC may be held oncomputer and shall be used by the UHISC in accordancewith the UK Data Protection law. Inormation provided toUHISC is held and processed or the purpose oadministering your application, and we may share yourinormation with our oces around the world. Thisinormation may be carried orward to your ocial studentrecord, which holds data in electronic and paper orm onyour personal details, academic and administrative historyand on relevant nancial transactions. Once you progress toa degree programme, the University is required to provideinormation to UK agencies including the Higher EducationStatistics Agency. Ater you leave, the parts o your student

    record which the University needs to retain will be archived.Some inormation will also be processed or the purpose omanaging our relationship with you as an alumnus. Otherinormation will be destroyed. Throughout, your personaldata will be held in accordance with current UK dataprotection law.

    LiabilityAny reerence in these terms to liability o students shallalso iner liability on the nancial sponsor o the student,and such liability is joint and several.

    VariationNo variation to these conditions is valid unless agreed inwriting by the Principal, ISCs provided always that theUHISC reserves the right to make any addition, amendmentor alteration to these conditions upon giving one termswritten notice o such change to all aected students.

    UK government bodiesUHISC is obliged to report, on request, visa status,attendance records and UK contact details to relevantUK government bodies.

    Communication

    Please supply the UHISC with personal e-mail addressesand mobile telephone numbers prior to arrival, in order thatcommunication, to include transmission o student reports,may be maintained at all times. Please also advise o anychanges as they occur.

    These Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings nowmade for courses commencing January 2013.

    you must return the signed Acceptance Form and pay the required conrmation payment as below:
