    WELCOME TO YOUR NEW GRAND MODUS/MODUS

    Introduction

    Congratulations on your choice - your Grand Modus/Modus has been created by RENAULTs design teams to offer you maximum space and comfort.

    In order to make your experience of this nimble and practical vehicle as pleasant as possible, we suggest you discover the main functionalities of your Grand Modus/Modus in this document.

    This document does not replace the drivers handbook.

    Please read the complete drivers handbook for more detailed information on the equipment mentioned in the reference guide for your Grand Modus/Modus.

    Screen washer fluid leel

    Add some fluid in the reservoir if necessary.

    Coolant leel

    The level indicated on the reservoir 2 should be be-tween MIN and MAX.

    If it is necessary to top up this level, it is essentialto do so when the engine is cold.

    Engine oil leel

    You can check the oil level on the instrument panel.When the engine is started and for approximately30 seconds, press either button 3 or 4. The oil level

    is displayed on the instrument panel.

    Refer to Section 4 of your drivers handbook for theprecautions to take when topping up the oil.

    Deactiating the front passenger air ag

    If you wish to fit a child seat in the front passenger seat, it is essential to deactivate the airbag:

    with the vehicle stopped, rotate switch to OFF.

    Reposition the switch immediately to ON as soonas you are no longer using the child seat.

    Folding the rear ench seat

    FixedrearbeNchseat Lift the front of the seat base then tilt it; press button on each side of the seatback and tilt it.

    tripticrearbeNchseat Bring the bench seat as far forward as possible using handle 3; switch to the 3-seat bench seat configuration by keeping handle 4 raised and pulling the seat base towards

    you, then fold central section 2; pull the levers located between the headrests and tilt the seatbacks; take hold of the central lever located on the back of the bench seat and tilt the assembly towards the front

    of the vehicle.

    sLidiNGrearbeNchseat Lower the rear headrests and move the bench seat as far forward as possible;

    pull lever 5 and lower large seatback a or pull lever 6 and lower small seatback b; lift the levers located at the front and on each side of the bench seat and lift the seat base.

    ISOFIX systemEach rear side seat is fitted with the ISOFIX childseat mounting system 7.

    Depending on the type of child seat used, installa-

    tion requires specific precautions.Refer to chapter 1 Child safety in your DriversHandbook for special notes.

    Consult your RENAULT Dealer to f ind out about theequipment available for your vehicle.

    Parking distance control

    For equipped vehicles, the parking distance controlmeasures the distance between the rear of the ve-hicle and any obstacles nearby.

    When approaching an obstacle during manoeuvres,the beeps become faster and then sound continu-ously when 25 cm from the obstacle.

    The system may be temporarily or permanentlydeactivated using the switch located on the dash-board (refer to your Drivers Handbook).

    Locking/unlocking the

    ehicle

    Two flashes of the direction indicator lights con-firm vehicle locking;

    One flash of the direction indicator lights con-

    To release the insert from its housing, pressbutton , it will come out automatically.

    To return the insert, push it into its housing.

    Never leave a key in the vehicle;

    depending on the vehicle, pressing thisbutton twice in succession prevents the vehiclefrom being opened, even from the inside.

    Starting the engine

    With the key in the ignition switch , turn it fullyon. Once the engine has started, release it.

    No: in diesel versions, there may be a delayof several seconds between turning the key andengine start to allow for engine preheating.

    Before starting, position the lever to N or p.

    Stopping the engineWith the vehicle stopped, turn the key towardsyou.

    Accessing functionsTurn the key through two positions in order to

    access certain functions (radio, navigation, wipersetc.).

    Depending on the case, these functions willswitch off at the latest when the vehicle islocked.

    3 Instrument panel Warning lights: this warning light requires you to stop

    immediately, for your own safety, as soon astraffic conditions allow. Stop your engine anddo not restart it. Contact an approved Dealer.

    this means you should drive verycarefully to an approved Dealer as soon as pos-sible. You risk damaging your vehicle If youkeep driving after this warning light has comeon.

    Distance before service:

    When the message service due in ... alongwith the remaining distance appears on the in-strument panel, this notifies you when the nextservice is due.

    If the service has not been carried out in time,the message service vehicle requires that thevehicle be serviced as soon as possible.

    Aiding fuel economy:For vehicles fitted with a manual gearbox, thisfunction indicates the best time to change gearto optimise fuel consumption.

    FM radio SOURCETo select a radio station in an alphabetical list: press E to select LIST mode and press one of the buttons a or b or turn wheel G to scroll through the list of radiostations (press and hold button e to update the list of radio stations).To store a radio station to one of the buttons numbered 1 to 6:

    select the radio station; press on one of the buttons from 1 to 6, until a beep sounds; to recall a stored radio station, press the corresponding button.

    CD SOURCEInsert a CD in the player, or for vehicles fitted with a 6 CD changer, press button d before inserting the CD. The system will start reading the CD automatically.

    Headrest

    Raise the headrest to the required height.

    Raise the headrest slightly, push the tab thenlower the headrest until it is at the requiredheight.

    Seat elt

    Tilt the button 2 to select the desired height of theshoulder strap.

    Door mirrors

    maNUaLadjUstmeNtTurn the lever 3 to adjust the door mirror.

    eLectricaLadjUstmeNtSelect the door mirror to be adjusted using thebutton situated in position 4 then, with the ignitionon, move the button until the mirror reaches thecorrect position.

    Adusting the seats

    tOmOVetheseatFOrwardsOrbackwardsLift the handle , slide the seat into the desiredposition and release the handle. Check that it iscorrectly locked.

    tOraiseOrLOwertheseatOn equipped vehicles, move handle 2 as manytimes as is required:

    to raise the seat, move it upwards; to lower the seat, move it downwards.

    Heated seats

    To switch it on: press switch 4, the integrated indi-cator light comes on.

    To switch it off: press switch 4 again, the inte-grated indicator light goes off.

    The system, which has a thermostat, decideswhether or not the heating is needed.

    LightingTurn the ring to:

    u: switch on the side lights;m: switch on the dipped headlights;o: ring in positionm, pull theswitch 3.To activate the lighting automatic operation, de-pending on the vehicle, with the ignition on, pressbutton 4 for four seconds.

    WipingPosition switch 5 to obtain:

    a: Stop;b: Intermittent wiping or automatic wiping, de-

    pending on vehicle;c: Continuous slow wipe;d: Continuous fast wipe;Windscreen washer: pull handle 3.

    No: To adjust the wiping speed and the sensitiv-ity of automatic wiping, rotate ring 4.

    Turn ring 2 then release it to:

    g: switch on the front fog lights;f: switch on the rear fog light.

    To switch them off, repeat the operation.

    Manual air conditioning

    If you want to: distribute the air: turn control ; choose the temperature: turn ring 2; adjust the ventilation speed: turn control 3; recycle the air: turn control 4; switch on the air conditioning: press switch 5.

    Automatic climate

    control

    To benefit from the automatic heating and air con-ditioning system, choose the desired temperatureusing buttons 6 and 8 then press button 7 for theautomatic mode to control the system.

    No: pressing one of the other buttons will exitautomatic mode according to your requirements.

    Button 9 enables the air conditioning to be acti-vated (AC indicator light on the display on). Pressbutton 7 to return to automatic mode (integratedindicator on).

    Cruise control/speed

    limiter

    If fitted to the vehicle, activate the cruise control orspeed limiter by moving switch :

    : cruise control;: speed limiter.No: you may always interrupt the operation ofthe cruise control by depressing either the brakeor clutch pedal.

    You can always exceed the limiter speed by de-pressing the accelerator pedal fully.

    Cruise control/speed

    Fuel tank

    Pull in recess a of the cover to open it.

    When driving, when the low fuel level warning lightcomes on, fill up with fuel as soon as possible:when the warning light comes on, you have ap-proximately 30 miles (50 km) left, driving at mod-erate speed.

    The fuel tank capacity is ol49l.
