Preamble

About NELE

Objective

Bengaluru is India's fifth-most populous city. Also known as the

Silicon Valley of India because of its position as the nation's leading

Information technology (IT) exporter. The city is amongst the top ten

preferred entrepreneurial locations in the world.

It is a common sight in Bangalore like any other metros to see

children with torn clothes, scattered hairs with the eyes full of hope

and lacking parental love and care. In order to provide these

promising children the basic needs and good future. Nele was

started in the year 2000 by HSP to rehabilitate these destitute

children.

NELE has been a ray of hope to many young lives from past 11

years. It rehabilitates destitute children such as rag-picker, beggars,

orphans and any other needy and neglected. It has touched many

hearts and changed many lives. The road travelled by Nele has seen

many success stories. It has made them self-reliant. The future plan

of Nele is to empower thousands of children who are on the streets

and who otherwise may end up anti-social elements.

Nele not only rehabilitates underprivileged children, but also

conducts different community oriented projects in the locality. Nele

has setup a vocational training centre empowering women and

youth neighbourhood.

So far, 9 centres have been established, 6 in Bengaluru and one

each at Mysore, Tumkur & Shimoga. Over

300 Boys and Girls have found caring

homes in these centres.

A vocational training centre has been started at Laggere,

Bengaluru, for school dropouts.

A unique program called 'Makkala Mantapa' provides a platform

to NELE children and children from both government and private

schools to compete in various sports and cultural events, an

attempt to bring destitute children to main stream and provide

opportunities for them to compete with other children in the

society. Every year over 5000 children will take part in the

celebrations.

Personality development camps have been organized for

underprivileged children and all the programs were conducted

by children from NELE, to make them cultivate Leadership

Qualities.

Raksha Bandhan, Swamy Vivekananda Jayanti, Srikrishna

Janmashtami, Independence Day and many other festivals are

celebrated in a way that bring harmony in the neighborhood.
