From Our Pastor

I want to thank you all, my church family, for the incredible gift of surprising me and Pam for our tenth anniversary at Deer Park. When I stop to think over the past ten years it is quite overwhelming to consider everything that has God has done in my life personally and in the life of Deer Park. More than anything, I want to thank you all for loving my family. You have invested in my family through your prayers, support, encouragement and teaching and words cannot express what that means to me and Pam.

Over the past ten years, I have grown to have one main goal as a Christian and as your pastor, that is, for you and me to be on mission with God. Jesus commanded His followers to continue His mission of making disciples. What is a disciple? A disciple is a person who is following Jesus Christ, is being transformed by Jesus Christ, and is committed to fulfilling the mission of Jesus Christ. I hope that you notice that all three of the characteristics of a disciple are active, there is nothing passive about being a Christian. I am continuing to pray that you and I will be active participants in fulfilling Jesus’ mission of making disciples who in turn make disciples.

I want to encourage you to check the church calendar for the different ministry events surrounding the celebration of Christmas at Deer Park. The first ministry event will be led by our Celebration Choir this Sunday morning at 11:00 with their presentation of “One Noel.” Make sure that you invite your family and friends to be here with you this Sunday morning to worship the Lord through this beautiful musical celebration.

I want to thank you again for the wonderful gift you gave me this past Sunday for my ten-year anniversary of being your pastor. I cannot describe how overcome I was by your kind words and your support for me and my family. I hope that you know how much I love you and love being your pastor. Stephen

All “wrapped” Angel Tree gifts, along with the tags (check-mark what was purchased) need to be returned to the Mission’s Corner by this Sunday, December 15th. Thank you to all that participated.

Girls In Action

Year-End Business Meeting Wednesday, December 18th ~ 6:30PM ~ Chapel

*We will be voting on the 2020 budget and members to serve

on various teams in the new year of 2020.

Join us once again as we focus on giving to the International Mission Board through the annual Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

Lottie Moon was an American woman who shared the gospel in China as her mission field. While serving in China, Lottie would write letters

to the Foreign Mission Board asking for money and more missionaries to continue God’s work with the Chinese people. The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is a result of her work and requests. Each year, our church sets a goal of what we will commit to giving to International Missions through this offering. Please pray as to how your family can give to this mission for the Christmas season.

This Year’s Goal is $4,000 Given to Date: $1,665

Celebrating 10 Years

Thanks to everyone who helped to make Pastor Stephen Carr and his family feel loved during the celebration commemorating 10 years of service at Deer Park Baptist Church. To all who prepared food, kept the surprise secret, those who set up the fellowship hall, and those who prayed for the day.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and

lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among

those with whom he is pleased!” Luke 2:11-14

Merry Christmas from the Deer Park Baptist Church Staff
