Waarom

Een ziekenhuisinfectie is een veelal vermijdbare en soms ernstige complicatie van een ziekenhuisopname of in het ziekenhuis uitgevoerde ingreep. Wanneer ziekteverwekkende bacterin worden overgedragen op mensen met een kwetsbare gezondheid, kan dat vergaande en zelfs levensbedreigende gevolgen hebben. Naast ongemak en leed kan dit ook leiden tot een langere opnameduur en een toename in kosten.

Uit onderzoek1 van het RIVM blijkt dat gemiddeld 5-10% van de patinten die in Nederland in een ziekenhuis worden opgenomen een ziekenhuisinfectie krijgt, ongeveer 100.000 patinten per jaar. In Nederland alleen brengen ziekenhuisinfecties een geschatte kostenpost van 400 miljoen per jaar met zich mee.2

Logisch dat vooral zorginstellingen de hoogst mogelijke hygine inachtnemen om besmettingen te voorkomen.

Handhygine vormt een deel van de oplossing maar...

Handhygine wordt beschouwd als de belangrijkste maatregel om het risico van overdracht van micro-organismen op patinten te verminderen. Een betere naleving van de richtlijn voor handhygine kan het aantal ziekenhuisinfecties met tien tot vijftig procent terugdringen.3

Helaas is handhygine besef laag in Nederlandse zorginstellingen. In minder dan 20% van de contactmomenten met patienten word voldaan aan de richtlijnen voor handhygine.4

Ook de handhygine van de gemiddelde Nederlander (en dus bezoeker in een zorginstelling) laat te wensen over, zo wast circa 40% zijn handen niet na toiletgebruik. 5

HC3, een extra preventiemiddel

Deurbeslag (deurkrukken, grepen, duwplaten, enz..) in zorginstellingen wordt intensief gebruikt en vormt dus een belangrijk overdrachtspunt voor bacterin.

Gelukkig is er een oplossing. Producten behandeld met HC3 kunnen een effectief onderdeel vormen van een algemeen infectiepreventie-programma. HC3 is bewezen effectief tegen onder andere de gevreesde MRSA, en E. Coli bacterin.

In plaats van chemische middelen (biociden) of zilver-ionen, bevat HC3 een innovatief fotokatalytisch element. Dit element heeft de eigenschap dat onder UV licht (daglicht of TL verlichting) het als katalysator optreed en gebruik maakt van een natuurkundige fenomeen om simpele organisme (bacterin, virussen, organisch vuil) af te breken. Het eindresultaat is slechts de reststoffen water en kooldioxide. HC3 gaat veel verder in haar effectiviteit dan zilver-ionen (zie HC3 versus zilver-ionen)

In de ontwikkeling van de coating is vanzelfsprekend gezocht naar maximaal anti-bacterile effectiviteit. Hierbij hebben de laatste ontwikkelingen in de nanotechnologie ons geholpen.

En, heel belangrijk: de HC3 coating is zeer hard en duurzaam. HC3 wordt dan ook aanbevolen voor omgevingen waar bacterin een gezondheidsrisico kunnen inhouden zoals ziekenhuizen, rust- en verzorgingstehuizen, dagverzorgingscentra, serviceflats, dienstencentra, keukens, enz.

HC3 ANTI-BACTERILE COATING:EXTRA PREVENTIEMIDDEL TEGEN ZIEKENHUISBACTERIN

HC3 versus zilver-ionen

HC3 maakt gebruik van de allerlaatste nanotechnologie om zo de meest effectieve anti-bacterile werking te realiseren. HC3 gaat verder dan oudere technologin zoals coatings op basis van zilver-ionen of biocides zoals triclosan. Een cruciaal verschil is dat HC3 niet alleen bacterin dood, maar ook hun restanten volledig oxideert (met slechts H2O en CO2 als restant).

Geen opbouw van restanten betekent (a) geen ophoping van toxische restanten; (b) geen voedingsbron voor een volgende golf van

bacterin;(c) geen afnemende effectiviteit van de coating door

in de weg liggende restanten.

Het is dan ook niet verrassend dat steeds meer zorginstellingen geen producten op basis van zilver-ionen of triclosan wensen te hebben maar kiezen voor HC3.

Een niet-onbelangrijke bijkomstigheid is dat HC3 ook zelf-reinigend is (superhydrophilicity). Het is dus niet nodig de producten met HC3 met allerlei chemische middelen te reinigen.

Diverse gerenommeerde Europese en Japanse onderzoekscentra hebben de anti-bacterile werking en duurzaamheid van HC3 onderzocht. Op verzoek zijn testrapporten beschikbaar.

LE REVETEMENT ANTIBACTERIEN HC3 :UN MOYEN DE PREVENTION SUPPLEMENTAIRE CONTRE LES BACTERIES NOSOCOMIALES

Pourquoi?

Une infection nosocomiale est une complication souvent vitable, parfois grave, rsultant dune hospitalisation ou dune intervention lhpital. La transmission de bactries pathognes des personnes dont ltat de sant est fragile peut avoir des consquences graves, voire mortelles. Cela peut entraner non seulement des inconvnients et des souffrances, mais aussi une augmentation de la dure dhospitalisation et des frais.

Lenqute1 mene par le RIVM montre que 5 10% des patients hospitaliss aux Pays-Bas contractent une infection nosocomiale, ce qui reprsente environ 100000 patients par an. Les frais rsultant des infections nosocomiales contractes aux Pays-Bas sont estims 400 millions deuros par an.2

Cela explique pourquoi les tablissements de soins respectent autant que possible les rgles dhygine afin dviter les infections.

Lhyginedesmainsfaitpartiedelasolution, mais...

Lhygine des mains est considre comme la mesure principale permettant de rduire le risque de transmission de micro-organismes aux patients. Un meilleur respect des directives en matire dhygine des mains permet de rduire le nombre dinfections nosocomiales de dix cinquante pour cent.3

Malheureusement, le personnel soignant des tablissements nerlandais est encore peu conscient de limportance dune bonne hygine des mains. Les rgles en matire dhygine des mains ne sont respectes que dans moins de 20% des cas lors des contacts avec les patients.4

Lhygine des mains du Hollandais moyen (et donc du visiteur dun tablissement de soins) laisse, elle aussi, dsirer. Environ 40% dentre eux ne se lavent pas les mains aprs avoir utilis les toilettes. 5

Dans les tablissements de soins, les ferrures de porte (bquilles, poignes, plaques de pousse etc.) sont utilises de faon intensive. Elles transmettent donc facilement les bactries.

Heureusement, il y a une solution. Les produits traits l'aide de HC3 peuvent faire partie d'un programme gnral de prvention d'infections. Le produit HC3 a prouv son efficacit en matire de lutte contre des bactries redoutables, comme les MRSA et les E. Coli.

Le HC3 contient un lment photocatalytique innovateur au lieu de produits chimiques (biocides) ou d'ions d'argent. Une des caractristiques de cet lment est qu'il fait office de catalyseur sous une lumire UV (lumire du jour ou clairage au non) et qu'il fait usage d'un phnomne physique pour dcomposer des organismes simples (bactries, virus, dchets organiques). Au final, l'eau et le dioxyde de carbone sont les seuls rsidus. Le HC3 est beaucoup plus efficace que les ions d'argent (voir HC3 versus ions d'argent)

Lors du dveloppement du revtement, nous avons videmment cherch obtenir une efficacit antibactrienne maximale. Les dernires dcouvertes dans le domaine de la nanotechnologie nous ont aids dans cette tche.

Autre point trs important: le revtement HC3 est particulirement dur et rsistant. C'est pourquoi le HC3 est recommand dans des environnements o les bactries prsentent un risque pour la sant, comme les hpitaux, les maisons de repos et de retraite, les policliniques, les rsidences-services, les centres d'aide sociale, les cuisines etc.

HC3 versus ions d'argent

Le HC3 fait usage de la dernire nanotechnologie dans le but d'obtenir l'effet antibactrien le plus efficace. Le HC3 va plus loin que les anciennes technologies, comme les revtements base d'ions d'argent ou de biocides, dont le triclosan. La principale diffrence est que le HC3 tue non seulement les bactries, mais oxyde galement les restes (l'eau et le dioxyde de carbone tant les seuls rsidus).

Pas de synthse de rsidus signifie: (a) pas d'accumulation de rsidus toxiques; (b) pas de bouillon de culture annonant une

prochaine vague de bactries;(c) pas de baisse d'efficacit du revtement cause de

rsidus gnants.

Ilnefautdoncpass'tonnerquedeplusenplusd'tablissements de soins ne souhaitent plus utiliser des produits base d'ions d'argent ou de triclosan, mais optent pour le HC3.

De plus, le HC3 est un produit autonettoyant (superhydrophile). Il est donc inutile de nettoyer des produits contenant du HC3 avec toutes sortes de produits chimiques.
