• Tadao Ando’s style used for the Shanghai Poly Theater is something I was struck by as he does what I think would be interst-ing, which is to expose structure by creat-ing a void in the facade of the building
• Tadao ando is an architect that emphasized structure in his work through the use of concrete and other heavy materials or ma-terials made to look massive
• By exposing the structure of the theater, Ando achieves a vvery interesting form while keeping the overall footprint of the building within the original rectangular shape
• Donald Judd’s use of repetition and se-rialism is something I am very interest-ed in and would love to use within my structure. Initially I am thinking of the repetition of the rods within rods
• The series of rectangular voids creates a sculpture that not only makes the view-er wonder why the voids are there and if they served a purpose, but also simple use of materiality to achieve the goal of minimalism
• His philiosophy of mathematical detail and the precision of which he made his work with makes for interesting sculp-ture
• Constant utilized the skeletal structure almost like scaffolding in a lot of his work which reminded me of the idea of a tower and how small, slight parts can make-up a more massive whole
• Constant early in his career also did a lot of wire sculpture some of which resem-bled towers, he uses triangulation heavily throughout this work
• Constant’s preference for process over product can be seen in many of his works as they rarely start out with de-fined plans. This sometimes leads to sprawling works, this boundless method is an interesting notion
