☞ 우레탄 결합(Urethane Bond)과 폴리우레탄

1개 이상의 이소시아네이트기(NCO Radical)를 갖고 있는 이소시아

네이트류와 1개 이상의 수산기(OH Radical)를 갖는 알콜류를 다관

능기(Polyfunctional)라고 하며, 이러한 관능기가 적정 조건하에서

고온의 열을 발산시키면서 [-NHCO-]n의 구조를 가진 화합 물질을

생성시키는 결합을 우레탄 결합(Urethane Bond)이라고 하며, 그

중 1000개 이상의 고분자 결합체를 폴리우레탄(Polyurethane)이

라고 한다.

폴리우레아란 무엇이가 ?

서서 론론

☞ Polyurea Spray Coating은 1980년대 초 미국 Texaco社에서

개발한 최첨단 Coating재료이며, 반응구조상 Pure Polyurea,

Hybrid Polyurea, Urethane Rim 등으로 구분된다.

→ Pure Polyurea는 이소시아네이트 프리폴리머(Isocyanate

prepolymer)와 아민(Amine)의 연쇄 반응으로 생성되며,

반응속도가 매우 빨라 촉매가 필요없다.

→ Hybrid Polyurea는 아민과 폴리올(Polyol)을 혼합하여

이소시아네이트 프리폴리머와 반응시켜 생성되며, 촉매를

사용하여 반응속도를 조절할 수 있다.

→ Urethane Rim Spray는 반응 속도를 응용한 것으로, 반응

구조 및 도장방법등 제반 요인을 응용한 도료를 RIM (Reaction IM (Reaction

Injection Molding) Spray CoatingInjection Molding) Spray Coating이라이라 부른다.

Thinning is not normally required or desired; however, at extreme environmental conditions, small amounts (10% orless by volume) of a recommended thinner can be added depending on local VOC and air quality regulations.

Any solvent addition should be made after the two components are thoroughly mixed. The pot life of the mixed material is 4 hours at 25℃. Higher temperatures will reduce working life of the coating; lower temperatures will increase it.

Surface Preparation

Polybrid™ 640

Abrasive blasting is usually the most effective and economical method. When this is impossible or impractical, coating can be applied over mechanically cleaned surfaces.

The surface preparation recommended for Polybrid™640 is to include removal of water, salt, dirt, oil, loose rust and all rust scale.

The minimum standard for non-immersion service is Steel Structures Painting Council Standard SSPC-SP2 or Swedish Standard DSt2; for immersion service, the minimum standard is SSPC-SP3 or Swedish Standard DSt3.

Steel All direct to metal coatings provide the maximum performance over near white blasted surfaces. There are, however, situations and cost limitations, where grit blasting to near white metal is not possible. SKS coatings were designed to provide excellent protection over less than ideal surface preparation.

Aluminum Remove oil, grease or soap film with neutral detergent or emulsion cleaner, treat with Starprep™ 1 or equivalent or blastlightly with fine abrasive.

Galvanizing Remove oil or soap film with detergent or emulsion cleaner, then use zinc treatment such as Starprep™ 1 or equivalent or blast lightly with fine abrasive.

Concrete Acid etching (ASTM D4260) or abrasive blast (ASTM D4259) new concrete cured a minimum of 14 days.

Airless spray Standard equipment such as Graco Bulldog 30:1 or larger, with a 0.021- to 0.025-inch fluid tip, 3/8” ID hose with 50 ft. maximum length.

Conventional spray Industrial equipment, such as DeVilbiss MBC or JGA or Binks 18 or 62 spray gun. A moisture and oil trap in the main air supply line, a pressure material pot with mechanical agitator and separate regulators for air and fluid pressure are recommended.

Power mixer Jiffy Mixer powered by an air or explosion-proof electric motor.

Brush or roller Additional coats may be required to attain proper thickness.

1. Flush all equipment with T-912 Thinner before use.

2. Stir base using an explosion-proof power mixer to dispersepigments.

3. Add converter to base. Mix thoroughly until uniformly blended to a workable consistency.

Induction time@21℃ : 15 (minutes)

4. Do not mix more material than can be used within the expected pot life, 4 hours at 25℃.

5. For optimum application, material should be from 10° to 32℃.

8. Apply a wet coat in even, parallel passes with 50 percent overlap to avoid holidays, bare areas and pinholes. If required, cross spray at right angles.

9. When applying directly over inorganic zincs or zinc-rich primers, a mist coat/full coat technique may be required to minimize bubbling. This will depend on the age of the IZP, surface roughness and conditions during curing.

10. Ventilate confined areas with clean air between coats andwhile curing the final coat. Prevent moisture condensationon the surface between coats.

11. Repair damaged areas by brush or spray.

12. Clean equipment with T-912 Thinner immediately after use.

1. Flush equipment with T-912 Thinner before use.

2. Moisture sensitive. Keep both containers tightly closed until ready to use. Repeated moisture exposure shortens pot life. Applicator should be suited and spray equipment ready before resin is added to cure.

Steel Mill scale and rust must be removed. Abrasive blast hot rolled steel to SSPC-SP6 and rusted and pitted steel to SSPC-SP10. Clean cold-rolled steel to SSPC-SP1 using vapor degreasing or solvent emulsion to remove all oil, grease and contamination. Solvent wipe is not satisfactory. Contact SKS for compatible phosphate surface treatments.

Aluminum Remove oil, grease or soap film with neutral detergent or emulsion cleaner; treat with Alodine®1200 or Starprep™ 1 or

blast lightly with fine abrasive.

Galvanizing Remove oil or soap film with neutral detergent or emulsion cleaner; treat with Starprep™1 or blast lightly with fine abrasive.

Steel Decontaminate surfaces as needed. Abrasive clean per SSPC SP-10 (Near White Metal Blast Cleaning), to a 3% to 5 mil (87.5 to 125 IJ) surface profile. Sweep-blast all areas that develop flash rust before coating. Steel must be dry and dust-free before coating. Application to wet steel is not recommended.

Concrete Allow 28 day cure for new concrete. Clean or decontaminatesurfaces as needed. Abrasive blast clean to remove loose concrete and existing coatings (if any), resulting in a surfaceprofile similar to coarse sandpaper. Water-blasting alone is not acceptable. Acid etching is not recommended. Repair active leaks as directed by Engineer and eliminate standing water. Embed fiberglass screen reinforcement within coating to bridge open cavities or, if necessary, resurface with a high-strength, rapid-curing, zero shrinkage cementitious. grout and re-blast before coating. Concrete must be dry per ASTM D 426("plastic sheet' test method) and dust-free before coating.

1. MATERIAL:The topcoat shall be an ASTM Type V, chemical cure, 100% solids,elastomeric, aromatic polyurethane with no sand fillers or extenders added. It shall be a two component system in a 1 parts base (Side A) to 1 part catalyst (Side B) ratio by volume. It shall be capable of being spray applied at the specified thickness in a single application. It shall be a monolithic, flexible membrane that is corrosion, abrasion, and impact resistant; with a Shore “D“ hardness of 61 to 65 at 770 F (250 C); a tensile strength of 2,878 psi and elongation of 52% per ASTM 0-412; shall be resistant to abrasion as measured by a weight loss of no more than 42 mgs. per ASTM 0-1044; and shall have a water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of no more than 0.016 grams per 100 square inches (645 cm2) per 24 hours {75 mils [1875 microns] DFT @ 73° F (22.7° C), 100% RH, per ASTM F-1249-90).

2. COLOR:The base component (Side A) shall be white or buff. The catalyst component (Side B) shall be dark brown. The color of the mixed topcoat shall be a uniform light tan or beige with no evidence of streaking or uneven coloring.

3. PRELIMINARY MIXING:The base component (Side A) shall be thoroughly mixed with an air driven agitator 30 minutes immediately prior to its use. Agitation of catalyst (Side B) is not required unless a color tint is added, in which case tint shall be added directly to the drum while agitating and used immediately.

4. SPRAY EQUIPMENT:Both components shall be simultaneously proportioned to their proper volume ratio, mixed in-line and spray applied with specially designed, plural component airless spray equipment at a minimum fluid pressure of 2,500 psi.

5. RIGGING AND SCAFFOLDINGRigging and/or scaffolding, if required, shall be set up to permit ease of operation of the spray equipment and application of the coating materials. The rigging and/or scaffolding shall provide safe and clear access to all surfaces to be coated.

6. APPLICATION:The topcoat shall be spray applied onto properly prepared surfaces at the specified film thickness in a single application which may consist of several increments, accomplished by one or more passes of the spray gun, all applied within the recommended recoat times, to a specific area. Each coat shall be applied in a manner that will produce an even film resembling the topography of the underlying substrate. High profile areas such as rough weld beads, bolts, rivet heads, etc. shall be coated by four-way passes of the spray gun to ensure that all surfaces receive the specified coating film thickness.Areas with through-the-wall perforations to be sealed with the coating shall receive a base coat of 20 to 30 mils (500 to 750 microns). While the base coat material is still in a semi-fluid and trowelable condition, a fiberglass or nylon screen reinforcement shall be embedded into it and be made to adhere evenly by pressing it with a roller or trowel, ensuring that the base coat is of a consistency that will support the screen. If folds or wrinkles are present in the installed screen, they shall be cut with a razor so they lay completely flat against the surface. Immediately after the screen is installed, the remaining topcoat material shall be applied directly over it to bridge all perforations and produce the specified coating film thickness.

7. RECOATING:Fresh topcoat materials may be sprayed over previously applied topcoat materials as long as the undercoat is no older than 4 hours at 21℃.

Warmer temperatures will accelerate cure of the topcoat and shorten the recoat window and, conversely, colder temperatures will retard the cure of the topcoat and extend the recoat window. If recoat time is exceeded, the undercoat shall be decontaminated (if necessary), abrasive blasted or mechanically abraded by hand to remove all gloss and produce a roughened surface, then power vacuumed prior to application of additional coating materials.

8. TRANSITIONS:For overlapping transitions between sections of the coating applied on different days, at least an 18 inch-wide strip (46 cm) along the leading edge of the previously applied sections of the coating shall be abrasive blasted or mechanically abraded by hand to remove all gloss and produce a roughened surface, then power vacuumed prior to application of fresh topcoat material. Feather fresh topcoat material at least 6 inches into the abraded areas, avoiding application onto glossy or untreated areas of the existing coating.

9. TEMPERATURE PARAMETERS:During application, coating materials shall be maintained between 27℃ and 32℃. Ambient temperatures shall be between 5℃ and 49℃, and substrate temperatures shall be at least 5℃ and a minimum of 30℃ above the dew point in the immediate work area. The maximum relative humidity shall be 95%.

10. SERVICE:The coating or lining system may be placed in service after it has been satisfactorily inspected per project requirements. Minimum cure time prior to exposure to chemical splash or immersion is 1 hour at 29℃, 2 hours at 22℃, or 4 hours at 15.5℃. An overnight cure is desirable for light traffic service. For high abrasion or impact applications, allow 7 days at 21℃ or 4 days at 49℃.

11. APPLICATOR QUALIFICATIONS:The topcoat materials shall be mixed and sprayed by factory trained and/or fully qualified technicians only.
