PROFILEPERFIL

Soy estudiante de Diseño Industrial de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Me enfoco en el desarrollo de concepto, considerando que son las ideas, más que los objetos, las que alteran los modos de vivir. Mis proyectos resultan de la materialización de metáforas, sueños o ideas, con un alto contenido personal. Me apasiona el diseño emocional y de experiancias.

Me considero un diseñador pero también un artista. Soy melómano. Practico la música, más que como gusto, como una necesidad mental y espiritual. Así tambien, campos como la arquitectura, el cine, el sonido, el teatro, la pintura y el dibujo me interesan e influencian mis diseños.

En el futuro no me veo sólo como un diseñador industrial, sino como un proyectista, interdisciplinar y experimental. Mi visión es desempeñarme de forma independiente, desarrollando mis propios proyectos, buscando gente que comparta mis ideas y manteniendo mis horizontes siempre en expansión.

I am an Industrial Design student at the National University of Colombia. I focus strongly on concept design, considering that are the ideas, and not the objects, which can influence people’s lifestyles. My projects come out from the materialization of metaphors, dreams and ideas, with a high personal content. Emotional design and experience design fascinate me.

I consider myself a designer, but also an artist. I am a music lover. I practice and play my own music, rather than as a hobby, as a mind and spirit essential. In the same way, fields as architecture, cinema, sound design, theater, painting and drawing interest me and influence my designs.

In the future I don’t see myself as an industrial designer, but as a project developer, interdisciplinary and experimental. My vision is to work independently, carrying out my own projects, looking for people who share my ideas, and keeping on expanding my horizons.

Dedos es una silla eco amigable, hecha en cartón, es 100% biodegradable y está diseñada para el hogar.

Resistente y durable, esta pieza de mobiliario puede complementar con estilo el interior de la casa de todo buen consumidor comprometido con el planeta.

Dedos cuenta con un espaldar articulado en 5 piezas, haciendo honor a su nombre, el cual permite cambiar de silla a puff. Esta

Dedos is an eco-friendly chair, made of cardboard, it’s 100% biodegradable and it’s is designed for home use.

Resistant and durable, this piece of forniture can complement with style the interiors of any good consumer committed with environment.

Dedos has its back divided in 5 pieces, which is the reason for the name (dedos is the spanish for fingers), and which allows it to switch between a chair and a puff. ThisEstructura/ structure

versatility even helps to save space makes it easier for its transport.

For its construction are required 4 square meters of cardboard, and only 10% of it is waste. Pieces are cut and assembled in the factory, so the chair is totally armend when delivered.

For improving the beauty of the product, the chair can be covered on the sides with natural wood veneer, and the color and type is selected by the customer.

The product can resis more than 100 kilos and has an estimated useful life of 2 years. At the end of this time. Dedos can be disarmed, following the instructions, and then it can be totally recycled in order to produce new cardboard or paper.

El producto puede resistir más de 100 kilos de carga y tiene una vida útil estimada de 2 años.

Al final de la vida útil, Dedos puede ser desarmada siguiendo ciertas instrucciones y totalmente reciclada para la elaboración de cartón o papel.

versatilidad permite además ahorrar espacio y facilita su transporte.

Para su construcción se emplean 4 metros cuadrados de cartón, con un desperdicio del 10%. Se cortan y se unen las piezas en la fábrica, de modo que la silla se entrega de una vez ensamblada. Para resaltar la belleza del producto, dedos se puede tapizar con chapilla natural, del tipo y color escogido por el cliente.

Algunos de los productos Puma/ Some of the Puma products.

Wildcat has 3 Sbarro engines, one on each wheel. The entry is on the sides, and it has 2 trunks of 30.000 cubic centimeters, one on each side. The large front glass gives the driver excellent visibility and, due to the design, it has a back camera that makes the work of the rear view mirror of a normal vehicle. It has a single rechargable lithium battery for the three engines.

Wildcat posee 3 motores Sbarro, uno en cada rueda. El ingreso se hace por los costados, posee un porta equipaje a cada costado de 30.000 cc. Su amplio vidrio panorámico le da una excelente visibilidad al conductor y debido a la topografía del vehiculo, posee una cámara que simula el espejo retrovisor de un vehiculo normal. Posee una batería de litio recargable que alimenta los tres motores.

La Galloise, un juego de té transformado en aves. Aves inmóviles pero indudablemente vivas. Cada una evoca una intención ilegible, una voluntad, cuenta una historia.La Galloise no es más que un irónico juego, donde no es uno quien bebe de las tazas, sino éstas las que se alimentan de quien las toma, y justo entonces emprenden vuelo.

El juego está compuesto en su totalidad por/ The set is comosed by the following parts:

5 Pocillos o crías/ Cups or breedings.1 Jarra o padre/ Pitcher or the father.1 Taza para esencias o Madre/ Cup for essences or the Mother.

La Galloise, a tea set transformed into birds. Birds which cannot move, but are undoubtly alive. Each one of them brings to mind an illegible intention, a will, it tells an story. La Galloise is nothing but an ironic game, where you’re not the one who is drinking from the cups, are the cups instead which get fed from who is taking them, and right there they start to fly.

Inspired on the works of the spanish artist Pablo Picasso, greatest exponent of cubism, this tea set shows a design effort on creating a living metaphor, communicated through its own geometry. Invisible planes and lines cross all the group and build up messages from each different angle.

3 pocillos, o pajaritos/3 cups, or little birds

Su poesía guarda un secreto bien guardado, sin embargo no está oculto para aquellos que quieran averiguarlo.

Inspirado en la obra del artista español Pablo Picasso, máximo exponente del cubismo, este juego de té muestra un esfuerzo de diseño para crear una metáfora viviente, comunicada a través de su propia geometría. Planos y líneas invisibles atraviezan todo el conjunto y construyen mensajes desde diferentes ángulos.

Al analizar el artista referente para este proyecto, el español Pablo Ruiz Picasso, 3 conceptos importantes salen a la luz:

Pinta una viva realidad tridimensional respetando la bidimensionalidad del plano.

Plantea una preeminencia de la forma sobre el color.

La instantaneidad ficticia de los cuadros. Es más importante la intencion que se tiene al pintar que el mismo cuadro.

Analizing the reference artist for this project, the spanish painter Pablo Ruiz Picasso, 3 important concepts jump out:

He paints an alive three-dimensional reality, respecting the plane’s two-dimesionality

He sts the control of shape over the color

The false immediacy of his works. The intention while painting is more important than the painting itself.

Las piezas fueron diseñadas a partir de la experimentación, el lápiz apenas fue utilizado para explorar con bocetos.

All the pieces were designed from pure experimentation with the clay, the pencil was barely used for sketch explorations.

La Galloise se produce mediante un proceso convencional de colado y quema de piezas en barbotina, con sus respectivos moldes y matrices. El acabado interior es esmaltado al horno. El exterior es esmaltado bajo cubierta (underglaze) y una capa final de esmalte transparente.

La Galloise is produced by the normal process of ceramic casting, doing the respective molds and models. The inner finish is glaze coating, while the outside is an underglaze coating hand painted plus a normal coat of transparent glaze.

Zaratustra’s chair: A machine to forget the positivist simplicity of the lifestyle proposed by the contemporary archetypes through self affirmation of ourselves.The matter has entered into a state of indecision, where it is undeterminable. It is not a solid object oppressed by geotropic orthogonality, nor a gaseousobject of atmospheric architecture.

Estratósfera’s design was done in order to have 2 functions, the one of the chaise-longue where the user can sit down and watch the outside, and the one of a personal sculptural object to be contemplated.This piece of furniture is based on big concepts from existentialism, such as Baudelaire’s “Flaneur”, Nietzche’s The Gay Science, and Mies Van der Roche’s patio houses.

El deseño de Estratósfera se ha realizado de tal forma que pudiera cumplir dos funciones, la de chaise- longue en el cual sentarse y contemplar el exterior, y la de objeto escultórico personal para ser contemplado.El mueble se ha basado en grandes conceptuales del existencialismo como el “flaneur” de Baudelaire, La Gaya Ciencia de Nietzche y la casa de tres patios de Mies Van der Roche.

Estratósfera is made of cedar wood, cut and assembled with natural glue and the base is in stainless steel. All the chair is put together with screws and finally covered the wood parts with red Formica.

A piece of furniture to contemplate and to be contemplated. For he who lives his life as an artwork.

Mobiliario institucional para espacios exteriores en centros comerciales, como plazoletas o terrazas.El módulo está conformadopor una banqueta dispuesta en torno a una superficie de apoyo o mesa de comidas. En su base tiene tres balas de luz blanca para pisos, con lo cual se termina de construir un espacio, más que una pieza.

Institutional furniture for outdoor spaces in malls, as small squares or terraces.The module is composed of a bench disposed all around a surface that works as arm support or food table. On its base has three round lights for floors, which makes of the product a whole space, rather than a single piece.

The Can-Eater is the new little friend of environment that will help you to make easier the the work of getting rid of those alluminium cans where come all your favourite beverages.Its powerful jaws can reduce a can 16 cm high to only 2 cm, saving you space in the trash bin and teaching you how to efficiently get rid of your refuses.

Andrés Carne de Res in Chía, Colombia.

It is composed of a compression box and an activation pedal. It is anchored to the wall with screws. It can be dismantled and cleaned with ease. Pieces are all replaceable and those normalized ones can be found at any hardware store.

When installed in a bar, it can help the clients to learn about the responsability they have with their refuses. The can-eater is above all a pedagogical tool.

Eficiencia de espacio/ Space efficiency

Se compone de la caja de compresión y el pedal de acción. Va anclado a la pared, es totalmente desarmable y lavable. Las piezas son todas reemplazables y las normalizadas se pueden conseguir en cualquier ferretería.

Instalado en un bar puede ayudar a que los clientes aprendan sobre la responabilidad que tienen sobre la basura que producen. El comelatas es sobre todo una herramienta pedagógica.

The product is totally made of Cold Rolled Steel, so it gains the necessary resistance, and it is finally coated with electrostatic paint.

It has been designed for spaces such as restaurants, where it can be used by many people. That’s why we have thought about offering our product to Andrés Carne de Res, a famous typical colombian restaurant that works in Chia (a town outside Bogotá) and in Bogotá.

El rpoducto está hecho totalmente en acero CR para brindarle la resistencia necesaria, y va finalmente recubierto con pintura electrostática.

Siendo contemplado para el ambiente de un restaurante, donde lo puedan usar muchas personas. Por eso hemos pensado en desarrollar el producto para Andrés Carne de Res, un famoso restaurante típico colombiano que funciona en Chía y en Bogotá.

Madua es una scooter diseñada para el sistema de movilidad al interior de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bicirrun. Su función es permitir a los estudiantes, profesores y al cuerpo administrativo de la universidad transportarse al interior del gran campus en Bogotá de manera rápida y sin consumir energía.

Funciona como un sistema producto servicio (SPS) en el cual 500 scooters estarán a disposición de los universitarios a modo de préstamo para que se movilicen desde las entradas hasta los edificios.

Madua is a scooter designed for the transport system inside the National Univerisy of Colombia, called Bicirrun. Its function is to provide to the studensts, professors and administratives of the university an efficient mean of transport inside the big campus in Bogotá and without energy consumption.

It works as a Product System Service (PSS), in which 500 scooters will be avaible for use of the university community as a lending for transporting themselves from the entrances to the buildings.

Estética pensada a favor del medio ambiente/ Aesthetics in favor of environment.

An important feature of Madua is its central board, made totally of laminated guadua, a familiar of the bamboo that grows abundantly in Colombia. Guadua is known as the woods’s steel, due to its resistance capabilities, but its greatest benefict is the low environmental impact, its long life cycle and biodegradability.

Una característica importante de Madua es la tabla de apoyo, hecha en guadua laminada, una madera similar al bambú que crece en grandes cantidades en Colombia. Es conocida como el acero de las maderas, debuido a su alta resistencia, pero su mayor beneficio es el bajo impacto ambiental que tiene, su ciclo de vida y su biodegradabilidad.

Design of P.O.P. material for the release of a new product (also had to be designed) of a brand, in this case, the new deodorant from AXE, the AXE Vintage.

To develope all the image of the new axe, we are proposing going for the vintage style, with Art Nouveau patterns made with a lot of color. It is complemented with the Pin-Up girls style, just like in the paintings of Alberto Vargas or Gil Elvgren.

Para el desarrollo de la imagen del nuevo AXE, se propone un estilo retro (Vintage), con mosaicos estilo Art Nouveau y abundancia de colores, en complemento con el estilo de las chicas Pin-Up, como aparecen en las pinturas de Gil Elvgren o Alberto Vargas.

The concept includes the design of the product to release itself, at least on its canning, the design of the P.O.P. exhibition modules inside the malls and the design of all the printed advertisement posters.

Grimper is a board game designed for children inbetween the 6 and the 12 years. It has the form of a pyramid and 4 colored patterns: red, blue, yellow and red. It is for 4 players, each one chooses a color and start from the first level. The winner is he who climbs the pyramid first, always following the steps of the same colour.

LUV is a lamp made of two sheets of parchment paper, cut and put together in odrer to create a volume with the shape of a building.

The light quality and the shadows projected through the cuts in the paper and to the walls create a special atmosphere inside the room it is in.

Grimper es un juego de mesa diseñado para niños entre los 6 y los 12 años. Tiene forma de pirámide y cuatro patrones de colores: verde, azul, amarillo y rojo. Se juega entre 4 personas, cada uno escoge un color y todos parten del primer nivel.El ganador es el que logre llegar primero a la cima, siguiendo siempre los escalones de su mismo color.

LUV es una lámpara hecha a partir de dos hojas de papel pergamino, cortadas y unidas formando un volumen con una forma similar a un edificio.

La calidad de la luz y la sombra que se proyecta a través de los cortes del papel y sobre las paredes generan un ambiente especial dentro de la habitación.

Cartoncity is a high-resistance cardboard chair. It can support more than 100 kilos. Its sober design hides a very strong structure made of the same cardboard sheets assembled one to each other. It’s manually assembled and it doesn’t have any kind of glue.

This is a package designed for the colombian company Vélez, which works on the production of leather goods. This package specifically has been thought for the belts, which once rolled, can beput in and transported with ease.

Cartoncity es una silla de cartón bastante resistente. Soporta más de 100 kilogramos. Su diseño sobrio esconde una fuerte estructura de láminas de cartón entrecruzadas. Se ensambla toda manualmente, no tiene ningún tipo de pegamento.

Éste es un empaque diseñado para la empresa colombiana Vélez, que se dedica a producir artículos de cuero. Este empaque en específico está pensado para sus cinturones, que una vez enrollados se pueden introducir y transportar con facilidad

Sky Recoverer is a short video developed from the analysis of the surrealist movement and its approach to the lifestyle of modern man. In the video you can see a character trying to bring back to his life the sky, so forgotten by humans.

We have created an abstract machine, the machine of the eternal recurrence, where everything that happens in this universe will happen again and again, in cycles of time that we cannot even imagine.

Sky Recoverer es un video desarrollado a partir del análisis del movimiento surrealista y su posición acerca del modo de vivir del hombre moderno. En él se ve un personaje reflejado en una esfeta, que trata de traer el cielo que los humanos han olvidado de vuelta a su vida.

Hemos creado una máquina abstracta, la máquina del eterno retorno, donde todo lo que sucede en este universo será repetido una y otra vez, en ciclos de tiempo que nisiquiera podemos imaginar.

Una máquina para separar dimensiones, para unir el inicio y el fin en un solo instante.
