A Message from the

Pastor…

Our family spent this past weekend skiing in Breckenridge, CO. When we arrived, we should have taken a little time to orient ourselves to our new surroundings and stroll around. So, the first day was a little rocky as we didn’t know where we were headed. We had booked our reservation to stay in a “ski in and out” condo, so we couldn’t understand why we were having to walk so far to get to the ski lifts, carrying our skis and poles! And then repeat the same trek back to go home. On the next to last day, we figured it out! Right outside our back door, we could ski right over to the lifts and then ski back home when were done. It could have been so much simpler those first few days, had we noticed the back door! And so it goes with so many things, when we don’t pay attention. We make it harder on ourselves. My prayer for this year is that we (or rather me) pay attention and listen to one another as we seek to discern our way together. This past fall we agreed to focus on our children and brought on resources to help us with growing their faith. We also began to focus on our member care with our first retreat on “Nurturing Body, Mind and Soul” and followed up with yoga and balance classes. Other ideas have been mentioned for group dinners, fellowships and day trips, so bring your ideas and let’s talk about them! Rather than casting about looking around, lots of good ideas and opportunities are right here! So a brainstorm/listening session is coming soon. Hope you will plan to be a part. Listening alongside, gail

Sunday School & Faith Discovery News

During Advent, a very special time in the church calendar, the youngest members of our church family have learned about

the magic of the season. We began with the story of Elizabeth and Zachariah,

another biblical couple expecting a special child. Then we traced the journey of Mary and Joseph from Nazareth all the

way to Bethlehem where, inside a warm stable, Jesus was born.

Soon a bright star shone over the place where Jesus lay.

Many enjoyed the children’s “Super Christmas” performance on December 13, which brought humor to the

true message of Christmas.

No matter who we are Jesus was sent to save us! The gifts we received from God the night Jesus was born in

Bethlehem are the true gifts of Christmas; Hope, Love, Joy and Peace.

We will continue to give these gifts throughout the New Year!

January will kick off our New Year Learning Initiative: Our Place of Worship.

The children will be introduced to Church symbols, traditions and customs!

Keep our Sunday School and Faith Discovery programs

in prayer as we all grow in our love for our Lord.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

December 20, 2015 we celebrated the commissioning of two new Stephen Ministers, Bonnie McCreight and Fred Dean.

After completing 50 hours of training they are now ready to be matched with a care receiver. If you feel the need of a

listening ear during difficult times and situations we now have six Stephen Ministers ready to walk with you.

Speak to Pat or Gail about your need and you will be matched up with a Stephen Minister who will walk with you

through your difficulty. And please keep Bonnie, Fred, Mary Jo, Tom H., Debbie, and Tom O. in prayer as they carry out this
