Q1. How have I used and challenged forms and conventions?

We have challenged the convention of targeting adults. Our newscast targets teenagers. This is unusual for radio.

We developed the use of music. In our newscast, music is used as it would be in a radio or film narrative. Nerve racking music is there to create an atmosphere in the crime story.

Q1 . Continued

Our introductory music is very entertaining and fun which is to help the audience get involved and be ready to hear the radio newscast! Usually music in newscasts is heavy and serious.

The story about x-factor has live music which will get the audience into listening to the news

VOX POP members of E-NETWORK went around to the public and asked what they thought of twilight breaking dawn part 2

The story which was about the year 9 students accident included an interview with the student on her thought about the accident

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yUzK-ltGIJM/TUiedN3i61I/AAAAAAAAABM/M5QUuw3Dmyk/s1600/social%2Bmedia.jpgOther forms

We also used other conventional forms such as:

Interview

Outside broadcast

Our structure is also very conventional as we started with a news jingle followed by headlines and then the most important story first.

We also included conventional features such as sports and entertainment news.

Q2 How does my media product represent particular social groups?

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TywRMvhhz3o/UVSijhsPVcI/AAAAAAAAAFw/HuUr215DSFQ/s400/Slogan.pngIn one of our stories, sportsmen are portrayed as a very generous man because David Beckham is playing football for free. All his salary will go to charity. Footballers are usually known as being big headed, uptight and rich but Beckham subverted the stereotype as he is shown as kind and giving.

http://thegaffer.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/David-Beckham-with-brushed-back-hair.jpgQ3 - What kind of media institution might distribute my product? Why?

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TywRMvhhz3o/UVSijhsPVcI/AAAAAAAAAFw/HuUr215DSFQ/s400/Slogan.png Capital FM

Capital FM is one of the worlds largest Radio

Its known for being a large UK number 1 hit station for music

This radio station is a popular, known music radio station which updates all exiting news about celebrities as well as music!

The station is aimed at mostly teenagers who are into the celebrity world!

Stories are about 4-5 minutes long

Fun,bubbly,audience appealing, lively

http://www.mykindofphone.com/wp-content/uploads/capital-fm.jpg

My David Beckham story

- normally footballers are rich, big headed, arrogant

But Beckham subverted the footballer stereotype because he played football for free, and gave his salary to charity

- The girl that had a car accident

- young people have a stereotype of being immature and nave

And the girl conforms to the stereotype as she had a car accident in front of the school

Taking stories to the next level

Brings the latest and greatest stories

Relates to our radio as we have interesting news which is very catchy

However we have more serious issues in our stories whereas capital FM are more into gossip and celebrity's.

The more catchy and serious the story is, makes it to the next level

It is similar to our newscast because of the similarity in hosts.

FUN, BUBBLY, SOCIALABLE, FRIENDLY, LIVELY

To make newscasts unique and different to others, unique personality is required.

Unique stories are required

Q4 Who would be the audience for your media product and why?

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TywRMvhhz3o/UVSijhsPVcI/AAAAAAAAAFw/HuUr215DSFQ/s400/Slogan.pngMy audience is young people, ages between 14-21

Why would it attract young people and not old people?Because of the types of news and story

Q5 how does your media product attract/address your audience?

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TywRMvhhz3o/UVSijhsPVcI/AAAAAAAAAFw/HuUr215DSFQ/s400/Slogan.pngWe have interesting stories which will make the audience interested. The stories are chosen according to their news values in relation to audience.

For example the story about the film Twilight has the value of celebrity but it also links with the Uses and Gratifications theory because young people can identify with characters and they enjoy the escapism it provides.

Other news values identified in our stories are proximity, negativity and human interest.

Sound codes attract

We use speech from real people. We have an interview with the girl who actually had the car accident.

Our music is lively and popular among young people they will be attracted to the difference in our sound/music

We added sound effects to support the sports and other stories.

The language is direct and not too formal

Casual, fun, friendly

Engaging with the audience

Our producer Helena has an amazing voice who engages with the audience very well and keeps the newscast entertaining as we go on, so the newscast is always fun and not boring.

Q6 What have you learnt in the progression from the preliminary task to the main task?

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TywRMvhhz3o/UVSijhsPVcI/AAAAAAAAAFw/HuUr215DSFQ/s400/Slogan.pngDigital radios mean interference free listening to liveRADIOstations. There's no hiss, crackle, or pop, no fading, no overlap.

Digital Radio can double the number of radio stations you can get on FM.

Some digital radios let you pause and rewind when listening to live radio.

All digital radios come with an LCD display. This can display information about the song you just heard, songs coming up or news headlines.

Some of the latest models enable you to record radio to a memory card.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TywRMvhhz3o/UVSijhsPVcI/AAAAAAAAAFw/HuUr215DSFQ/s400/Slogan.pngI learnt that technology is one of the most important parts of media

Convergence has arrived!
