The Davis Cup tournament wasconceptualized in 1899, whenthe four members of the tennisteam from Harvard Universitywished to challenge the Brishtennis team in an internaonal

tennis compeon. In fact,one of the four team membersfrom Harvard, Dwight F. Daviswas responsible for planningthe format of this internaonaltennis tournament.

At that me, the AmericanTennis Federaon agreed tomake this compeon ocial.Later on, the tournament wasknown as the InternaonalLawn Tennis Challenge butit soon became known as TheDavis Cup named aer DwightF. Davis, who inially proposed

the idea.The rst match in this compeon saw theUnited States of America facing the Brishteam in the year 1900. This match took placeat the Longwood Cricket Club in Boston,Massachuses, USA. At that juncture,the Americans, also represented by Davissurprised the Brish team by winning the rstthree matches.

From that historical moment onwards,Australia dominated the compeon from1950 ll 1967 to become the champions 15mes in 18 years. In fact, ever since the launchof the Davis Cup, countries famous for playingtennis have won this compeon. The USA

won 32 mes and Australia won a total of28 mes, including the four mes it won as

Australasia. Britain won 9 mes, including thefour mes it won as the Brish Isles. Francewon 9 mes and Sweden was the championfor 7 years.

This year in 2012, this tennis compeonacclaimed as 2012 Davis Cup by BNP Paribaswill celebrate its 101 anniversary.

Indonesia is placed in Group II of the Asia /Oceania zone along with 7 other countries,Hong Kong, Pakistan, Philippines, Lebanon, SriLanka, Thailand and Pacic Oceania. Indonesiahas since then won the preliminary round ofthe group II Asia/Oceania zone in Hong Kongby beang Hong Kong 3:2 on 10-12 February

2012. Currently, Indonesia has gained accessto the second round to be played from 6

April 2012 at the SenayanIndoor Tennis Stadium.The Indonesian team willface the White Elephantstennis team from Thailandwho beat Sri Lanka 3:2 in

the rst round.

The Indonesian teamincludes four dependabletennis players; ChristopherRungkat, David AgungSantoso, Aditya HariSasongko and WisnuAdi Nugroho with BonitWiryaman as coach. Atthis point, the Thai teamconsists of four top playersDanai Udomchoke, SanchaiRawatana, SonchatRawatana and KiphongWachiramanowong with

Paradorn Srichaphan ascoach.

On the occasion of the launching of RoundII of the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone 2012,the chief organizers for the Associaon forIndonesian Tennis,[PB PELTI] have invitedJubilee School to parcipate and supportthe success of this event to ensure theadvancement of tennis in Indonesia.

In fact, since 2005, Jubilee School has beenacvely involved in sponsoring the tenniscompeon known as Jubilee 14-U AsianTennis Championship. In addion, Jubilee alsoprovides scholarships and study opportuniesto potenal junior tennis players of Indonesia.
