In Dance of the Magnetic Ballerina wordt een persoonlijke ontboezeming over een hardnekkige obsessie met beweging gedeeld, door opeenvolgende intense bewegingen te versmelten met een collage van geluid en een uniek, interactief licht ontwerp. Bij tijden irritant en bij tijden kwetsbaar. Britse danseres en choreografe van Tsjechische afkomst Andrea Miltnerová komt nauwelijks van haar plek af, en toch weet ze een verheffende ervaring te creërendoor de perfectie van haar bewegingen. De obsessieve discipline en symmetrie resulteren in een beeldschone en opwin-dende zelfdestructie door beweging.

In Dance of the Magnetic Ballerina intense movement sequences fuse with a collage of sound and a unique, interactive lighting design to relate a personal testimony of a obstinate obsession with movement, at times irritating and at times vulnerable. British dancer and cho-reographer of Czech origin Andrea Miltnerová hardly moves from the spot and yet she evokes an uplifting experience from the perfection of her movements. The obsessive discipline and symmetry result in a ravishingly beautiful and thrilling self destruction through movement.

Ergens; dichtbij is een gedanste roadmoviewaarin vier ervaren, charismatische dansers en twee jonge, getalenteerde acrobaten zich op het snijvlak van dans, circus en theater begeven. Met krachtig bewegingsmateriaal en risicovol partnerwerk nemen ze ons mee naar oorden die dichtbij en herkenbaar lijken, maar zich mogelijk ook op de grens van de realiteit bevinden. Een poëtische en gelaagde voorstelling van Pia Meuthen, huischoreografe van Panama Pictures, geïnspireerd op de korte verhalen van schrijfster Maartje Wortel en het werk van illustrator en kunstenaar Shaun Tan.

Ergens; dichtbij is a danced version of a road-movie in which four experienced, charismatic dancers and two young, talented acrobats move around the point where dance, circus and theatre meet. With powerful movements and risky partner work they take us to places that seem close and familiar, but at the same time may also be on the border of reality. A poetic and layered presentation of Pia Meuthen, resident choreo-grapher of Panama Pictures, inspired by the short stories of writer Maartje Wortel and the work of artist and illustrator Shaun Tan.

Choreograaf Arno Schuitemaker haalde zijn inspiratie uit de wetenschap over spiegelneu-ronen en creëerde een inventief en levendig duet - deel van de The Fifteenth Project - waarin hij zijn onderzoek naar de relatie tus-sen de performers en het publiek voortzet. De twee mannelijke dansers zijn geconcen-treerd, speels, bewegen met precisie en zijn vol fysieke intensiteit. Ze verschuiven vrijwel moeiteloos van het gewone naar het buitengewone, zoekend naar contact en grenzen verkennend stellen ze de impliciete vraag: Hoe verhoud ik me tot een ander?

With inspiration drawn from the science of mirror neurons, choreographer Arno Schuitemaker created an inventive and vivid duet - part of the The Fifteenth Project - in which he continues his research on the relationship between the performers and the audience. The two male dancers embrace playfulness and precision and are full of concentration and physical intensity. They shift almost effortless from the ordinary to the extraordinary, seeking and exploring contact and boundaries, proposing an unspoken question: How do I relate to what I see?

Virtualiteit als een speeltuin voor zelfpre-sentatie: Fabien Prioville is gefascineerd door de invloed van nieuwe technologie op de manier waarop we met elkaar com-municeren. Voor zijn nieuwe stuk liet hij zich inspireren door de video-chatroom chat-roulette.com. In samenwerking met danser Pascal Merighi (Tanztheater Wuppertal) nodigt Fabien mensen op facebook uit om bij te dragen aan de performance via skype. Ze werden gevraagd om hun muziek, hun beweging, hun mening of een kijkje in hun keuken te delen en door hun deelname mede vorm te geven aan de eerste digitaal uitge-breide live performance.

Virtuality as a playground for self presentation: Fabien Prioville is fascinated by the influence of new technology on the way we are communicat-ing. For his new piece he was inspired by the video chatroom chatroulette.com. In collaboration with dancer Pascal Merighi (Tanztheater Wuppertal) Fabien invites people on facebook to come and join the performance via skype. They were asked to share their music, their movement, their opinion or their kitchen-view and co-create the piece by taking part in the first digitally extended live performance.

MATHEMATICS OF ENCLOSURE

Mathematics of Enclosure is een perfor-mance van Italiaanse danser Federica Dauri en is geïnspireerd door het werk ‘de kooi’ van de Nederlandse beeldhouwer Egon Schrama. De performance gaat over het thema van de vrijheid en verkent de confrontatie tussen de fragiliteit van het vlees en de kracht van ijzer. Het lichaam in zijn primordiale eerlijkheid verhoudt zicht tot koude materie als een dier met de omringende ruimte, met de kooi, met zijn toestand. De performance is een schreeuw tegen de verplichte vrijheid en overgave aan uniformiteit, tegen eerbied, tegen denken en doen in overeenstemming met het systeem en zijn behoeften.

Mathematics of Enclosure is a performance by Italian dancer Federica Dauri and is inspired by Dutch sculptor Egon Schrama’s work ‘the cage’. The performance deals with the theme of free-dom and explores the confrontation between the fragility of flesh and the power of iron. The body in his primordial honesty relates to cold matter like an animal with the surrounding space, with the cage, with his condition. The performance is a scream against the manda-tory freedom and surrender to uniformity, to obeisance, to thinking and behaving in conformity with the system and its needs.

Usonia (zelfstandig naamwoord): Een naambestaande uit één woord voor de Verenigde Staten, die niet de dubbelzinnigheid bezit van ‘America’.Het uitgangspunt voor dit stuk is de film Fargo (1996) van de Coen Brothers. De film portretteert op een brutale wijze en met zwarte humor de Verenigde Staten van Amerika. Hoewel de film zich afspeelt in Minnesota en North Dakota, kunnen we stellen dat het niet de bedoeling is om slechts een portret van deze twee specifieke locaties te maken, maar dat het in een breder perspectief Amerika weergeeft. We zijn nog nooit naar Amerika geweest, maar Amerika is in ons, elke dag. Werkend met een overdreven en sculpturaal lichaam, zijn we Amerika aan het ‘channelen’. De Portugese choreograaf Clara Amaral is aan het afstuderen aan de SNDO, School voor Nieuwe Dans Ontwikkeling in Amsterdam.

Usonia (noun): A one-word name for the UnitedStates of America, which does not have the ambiguity of ‘America’.The starting point for this piece is the movie Fargo (1996) by the Coen Brothers. The movie portraits in a brutal and darkly funny way the United States of America. Even though the movie takes place in Minnesota and North Dakota, we can say that it doesn’t aim to portrait these two specific locations but, in a broader perspective, it portraits America. We’ve never been to America, but America is in us, everyday. Working with an exaggerated and sculptural body, we are ‘channelling’ America. Presently Portuguese choreographer Clara Amaral is graduating from SNDO, School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam.

Het is gericht op de relatie tussen deperformers, die beïnvloed worden door de materialiteit, en de lichamelijke ervaring van het publiek. Belfiore creëert sterke beelden die blijven hangen. Met zijn keuze van muziek en bewegingen weet hij de emo-ties te sturen, op zoek naar de extremen: vreemdheid, ongemak, irritatie en intimiteit.

The performance investigates materiality, artificiality and sensorial experiences. It is focused on the relation between the performers being affected by the material-ity and the bodily experience of the audience. Belfiore creates strong images that linger. With his choice of music and movements he knows how to steer the emotions, looking for the extremes: strangeness, discomfort, irritation, and intimacy.

Gil Arazzi heeft zich als artistiek leider van de Pop’arazzi Crew, bekend van onder andere Holland’s Got Talent, ontwikkeld tot een specialist in de urban dansvormen: Poppin’, Newstyle Poppin’ Choreos (combi-natie tussen Poppin’ en Hiphop), Dubstep, New Style Hiphop Choreo, Freestyle en Experimental. Al meer dan 10 jaar danst hij op het hoogste niveau en heeft deelgenomen aan televisieprogramma’s als The Ultimate Dance Battle en So You Think You CanDance. Dat Gil een uitzonderlijke danser is bewees hij door dé internationale stand up dansbattle Juste Debout 2013 te winnen, binnen de stijl Experimental.

As the artistic director of the Pop’arazzi Crew (well-known from among other Holland’s GotTalent) Gil Arazzi has developed into a special-ist in urban dance: Poppin ‘, Newstyle Poppin’ Choreos (combination between Poppin’ and Hiphop), Dubstep, New Style Hiphop Choreo, Freestyle and Experimental. For over 10 years he is dancing at the highest level and has parti-cipated on television shows like The UltimateDance Battle and So You Think You Can Dance. Gil proved to be an exceptional dancer by winning the international stand up dance battle Juste Debout 2013 in the Experimental style.

Zenith is een poëtische expressie en choreografie, een fysieke oefening, die de geluids- en visuele ruimte verkent als een streep tussen geluid en beweging, tussen het visuele en wat er waargenomen wordt. Zenith beschouwt tijd via het bestaande ritme in alles wat we doen, het ritme dat het verstrijken van de tijd markeert en dat altijd aanwezig is in wat ons omringt. We beseffen niet hoe de tijd verstrijkt, totdat we de reeds gemaakte wijzigingen zien. Guy Nader | Maria Campos is een onafhanke-lijke ensemble gevestigd in Barcelona. De Libanese en Spaanse werken al sinds 2007 samen. Zenith extract heeft de B-Motion prijs gekregen, bestaande uit een artistieke residentie in Bassano del Grappa, Italië en bij de Carlos III Universiteit in Madrid voor een nieuwe creatie in 2013 in Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid 2012.

Zenith is a poetic expression and choreography, a physical exercise, which explores sound and visual space as a score between sound and move-ment, between the visual and what’s perceived. Zenith contemplates time through the existing rhythm in everything we do, rhythm that marks the passage of time and that is always present in what surrounds us. And we do not realize how time passes, until we see the changes already made. Guy Nader | Maria Campos is an independent ensemble based in Barcelona. The Lebanese and Spanish have been collaborating together since 2007. Zenith extract has received the B-Motion prize awarded with an artistic resi-dency in Bassano del Grappa, Italy and in Carlos III University in Madrid for a new creation during 2013 in Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid 2012.

BEYOND THE BODY

Productontwerper Imme van der Haak drukt foto’s van het menselijk lichaam af op doorschijnende zijde, en creëerde daarmee de mogelijkheid om de menselijke vorm te veranderen. In de performance manipuleert het bewegende lichaam de stof, zodat het lichaam en de zijde één worden. Daarbij wordt onze perceptie vervormd of wordt er een compleet nieuwe fysieke vorm ont-huld, die de beweging vervolgens tot leven brengt. Verschillende lichamen, leeftijden, generaties en identiteiten kunnen fysiek over elkaar gelegd worden, wat resulteert in een onduidelijke afbeelding die intrigeert, verbaast of soms zelfs verstoort.

Product designer Imme van der Haak printed photos of the human body onto translucent silk, which created the possibility to alter the human form. In the performance the moving body manipulates the fabric so the body and the silk become one, distorting our perception or reveal-ing a completely new physical form. The move-ment then brings this to life. Different body’s, ages, generations and identities can be physically layered, resulting in an unclear image that in-trigues, astonishes or sometimes even disturbs.

Een hypnotiserende golf van stem en geluid van Lenka Dusilová en een explosieve, krachtige dans van Marketa Vacovská komen samen in een enkel moment in de boksring. Dit nieuwe multi-genre project door het Tsjechische ensemble Spitfire Company behandelt de thema’s vechten, uitputting, de symptomen van de ziekte van Parkinson, en instorting. Gewijd aan Muhammad Ali en alle vechters om ons heen.

A hypnotic wave of voice and sound by Lenka Dusilová and explosive power dance by Markéta Vacovská converge in a single moment in the boxing ring. This new multi-genre project by the Czech ensemble Spitfire Company deals with the themes of fighting, exhaustion, the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease, and collapse. Dedicated to Muhammad Ali and all the fighters around us.

In het kader van Cinedans onTour stelt Cinedans voor diverse festivals een speciaal dansfilm-programma samen, waardoor gedurende het hele jaar een selectie van dansfilms op tournee gaat door Nederland en ver daarbuiten.  

In cooperation with Cinedans and ILTWT Young, ILTWT presents short dance films and video installations. Under Cinedans on Tour, Cinedans travels all over the world to screen selections from its film programme.

Voor het eerste nodigde ILTWT jongeren uit om onderdeel uit te maken van het team als programmaker en beeldreporter. Samen hebben ze, onder artistieke leiding van Suzy Blok, een aantal span-nende installaties gecureerd en festival beeldreportages gemaakt.

For the first time ILTWT invited young people to join our team as programme makers and photo reporters. Together they have curated, under the artistic direction of Suzy Blok, a few exhilarating installa-tions and made festival image reports.

Op zaterdag 6 juli presenteert Paradiso een avontuurlijke clubnacht die als natuurlijk aansluit op het eigenzinnige programma van ILTWT: ILTWT After Midnight. De bezoeker heeft meteen door dat het hier niet gaat om een regulier dansfeest. De (soms interactieve) installaties, de aankleding, de pop-ups (plotselinge ‘oprispingen’ van dans op onverwachte plekken in het hele gebouw), speciale performances en muzikale omlijsting van deephouse, vormen een aanstekelijke combinatie.

Meer informatie & line-up: www.iliketowatchtoo.nl On Saturday July 6th Paradiso presents an adventurous club night that naturally follows after the quirky program of  ILTWT: ILTWT After Midnight. The visitor senses immediately that this will not be a regular dance night. The (sometimes interactive) installations, the decoration, the pop-ups (sudden ‘acts’ of dance in unexpected places throughout the building), special performances and deep house tunes, are a catchy combination.

I LIKE TO WATCH TOO is een productie van Paradiso in samenwerking met Julidans (2-13 juli 2013). Julidans presenteert gedurfde, toonaan-gevende en vernieuwende dansvoorstellingen van dansmakers over de hele wereld.
