"When I was 17, I decided to do my overseas study throughELS. I couldnt speak English well at the time.
The ELS class on campus had students from about 20countries, speaking about 15 different languages. The ELSteachers were very experienced in teaching these kinds ofstudents. By the end of the day, Id be looking forward togoing back the next day. After nine months, I received mycertificate from ELS.
I think I matured a lot through my experience at ELS anduniversity. At university, when I see my former ELS classmatesworking hard and trying to achieve something big and pursuetheir dreams, it makes me want to work hard too. I feelgrateful for these important friendships; they give me a lotof motivation.
Im majoring in biomedical engineering right now. Implanning to take a year off to do an internship to gainexperience working in a company and then apply for graduate
school. I want to learn more about the medical field andthen go and help people in my home country."

ELS WORKS.
"In 1976 I myself was a student at ELS in Oakland, California, andsince then, the English language has become an important partof my daily life, helping me a lot in my duties as a doctor.
That is why when my kids Carlos and Ana Grecia were theright age to leave Mexico in order to learn English, I did nothesitate to send them to ELS because I knew the quality
and the prestige of your school.
My wife and I are happy to have left in your hands theEnglish learning of our youngsters.
You did a very good job because they both speak andwrite the language very well, and it is helping them in theirprofessional careers. Please receive our appreciation!"

"Before I came to ELS, I had a problem, which was a lack of
self-confidence. All teachers and ELS staff have always assistedme to express myself and to improve my English since myfirst day. They are also smiling at all the students all the time. Thanks to their help and my effort, day by day I overcame
all my problems. In addition, every month ELS Berkeleyprepares a schedule of activities. I participated in most ofthem, and they were very fun and helpful to makeconversation with people. If I had a chance to choose alanguage school, I would choose ELS again."

"There are no words to express all my gratitude to all theteachers and staff at ELS.When I arrived to the USA, I couldbarely connect two sentences in English. Now, I am confidentabout my skills and Im able to express myself in ways thatIm truly proud of. All the teachers and staff were ALWAYSsupporting me in my learning process. Day by day, I receivedall that I needed to succeed. Now my doctoral studies areawaiting me at the University of California at Santa Cruz, and Icant wait to put into practice all that Ive learned."

"I definitely made a right decision when attending ELS school. At school, I learned not only English but also AmericanCulture. Both of them are very important to anyone who wantsto study in America. ELS teachers who are friendly to studentshave helped me a lot even though I graduated. Personally, Ilove the English Master program so much, although at first I feltworried about my English just a little bit learning in the Masterclass. Shortly after that, I enjoyed studying with the programbecause it pushed me both to speak and write a lot. Not onlythat, I completed a research paper with 10 pages, which helped
me get used to MBA classes in the university. I am now studyingin Louisiana Tech and do well in my classes."
Hoai, Vietnam
ELS Graduate
Current Louisiana Tech Student
"It was not hard for me to apply to community college, because ELS helped me prepare all the documents. It did nottake me long to get used to it because I knew what I shoulddo to succeed from my ELS experience. In ELS, I met thebest teacher I ever had.I was having a difficult time writingmy personal statements for my application to UC Berkeley, but I asked her for help and she advised me whenever I hadproblems. I think I would not have gotten into UC Berkeleywithout her help. Another advantage of the ELS 2+2community college system is that you save money if you goto community college and then transfer."
Gim, Korea
ELS Graduate and Former Community College Student
Current UC Berkeley Student
"I was interested in pharmacoepidemiology. So I created a planto meet the English requirement for admission by laying outhow I would attend ELS on campus and prepare for the GRE.
They said yes to admitting me conditionally. ELS helped me alot. ELS was not just for English, it was for everything. It was the best time of my life."
