統合幕僚学校は、上級部隊指揮官又は上級幕僚としての職務の遂行に必要な自衛隊の統合運用に関する知識及び技能を修得させるための教育訓練を行うとともに、自衛隊の統合運用に関する基本的な調査研究を行います。

統合幕僚学校は、昭和 32 年統合幕僚会議において統合教育の必要性が提議され、検討の末、昭和 36 年８月1 日、統合幕僚会議（現統合幕僚監部）の附置機関として市ヶ谷に新設されました。その後の沿革の詳細は次に示すとおりです。
In 1957, the Joint Staff Council pointed out the need for Joint Education. After a series of discussions, the JSC was established on 1 August 1961, as a component of the Joint Council (predecessor of the Joint Staff). The following is the detailed history.

統合幕僚学校教育課の研究室では「自衛隊の統合運用に関する基本的な調査研究」を実施しています。ここでの調査研究成果は、統合幕僚監部において統合運用に関する将来の諸施策の検討に活用されます。 また、統合運用に関する教育訓練の準拠を示すため、統合幕僚長が制定する統合教範に関し、研究室は起草機関として「草案の作成」を実施しています。
統合高級課程においては、グループ研究、現地研修、講義を柱に教育を実施しています。
The Research Office conducts “fundamental research and study for the joint operations concept of SDF”. Our research outcomes are to be applied to future measures on joint operations by Joint Staff.
The Joint Staff College is also responsible for providing education and training standards, and the Research Office prepares some drafts for that.
Joint Advanced Course is the main training course , which consists of three education pillars; group study, field trips, and lectures.

【センターの沿革】
【教育・研究】
国際平和協力センターは、平成 19 年に国際平和協力活動が自衛隊の本来任務と位置付けられたことを受け、教育訓練体制の充実を図るため、平成 22 年３月、統合幕僚学校の下に設立されました。
国際平和協力センターは、国際平和協力活動等の派遣部隊指揮官、幕僚等の要員として必要な知識・技能を修得させるため、２課程１講習を行っています。平成 26 年以降、関係府省庁職員及び外国軍人の受け入れを開始しています。
これまで我が国及び諸外国が実施してきた国際平和協力活動等に関する分析や、国内外関係機関との情報交換等を通じて、国際平和協力活動等に関する各種研究を行っています。この一環として、年１回、国内外の有識者を講師として招聘し、「国際平和と安全シンポジウム」を開催しています。
The Japan Peacekeeping Training and Research Center (JPC) was established under the Joint Staff College (JSC) in March 2010, given a new mission: to support international peace cooperation activities in 2007. Its mission is to provide education and training to personnel who will be involved in international peacekeeping activities.
The JPC offers three training courses to educate the SDF personnel who will be deployed as contingent commanders or as staff officers in international peace cooperation activities. Since 2014, courses have included personnel from related government ministries and foreign militaries, as well as the SDF personnel.
By exchanging information with related foreign and domestic organizations, the JPC has researched and analyzed various international peace cooperation activities. The “International Peace and Security Symposium” is a part of this effort. It is held annually, and the JPC invites experts from all over the world.

統合幕僚学校では、学校創設以来、教育機関としての特徴を活かし、各国軍高官及び学校関係者などの訪問や研修を受け入れるなど、あらゆる機会を利用し国際交流を実施しています。
各課程入校式、卒業式では、部内外からご来賓をお招きして式典を挙行しています。
Since its foundation, the JSC has committed itself to international exchanges such as receiving delegations from various countries. The JSC also coordinates lectures by visiting foreign commanders. Those efforts have paid off to broaden the students’ horizons and to strengthen friendly relations between the JSDF and other countries.
The enrollment and graduation ceremonies are held with the pleasure of their companies within and outside the SDF.

【各国センター等との交流】
【国連平和維持活動教官養成訓練の国連との共催】
国際平和協力センターでは、平成 27 年 10 月に、民軍連携に関する国連平和維持活動教官養成訓練を国連と共催しました。訓練には日本を含めアジア太平洋地域及び中東から 14 カ国 27 名が参加し、国連平和維持活動に関する教官として必要な知識及び技能を修得しました。
国際平和協力センターでは、平成 22 年８月以降、アフリカ各国や国連からの要請により、研究員を講師等として派遣しているほか、各種国際会議や訓練等に参加し、各国センター等との交流を図っています。また、アジア地域における国際平和協力活動等の教育・研究における中核を担う組織として、今後、能力構築支援にも力を注いで参ります。
The JPC hosted the United Nations (UN) Training of Trainers (TOT) , focused on UN Civil-military Coordination, with the support of the UN, in October, 2015. There were 27 participants from 14 different countries in the Asia-Pacific and Middle-East regions. The TOT provided them with the knowledge and skill necessary to be PKO instructors.
Since August 2010, the JPC research officers have been invited to lecture at PKO centers to severalAfrican countries, and have participated in international meetings and training events with related countries, including UN programs by the request of UN. The JPC will do its utmost to both contribute to and support educational services for international peace cooperation activities, including capacity building, as a leading educational center in the Asia-Pacific region.
