Will say(the) foolish onesfrom (the) people,`Whathas turned themfrom

their direction of prayerwhichthey were used (to)[on it].`Say,`For Allah

(is) the eastand the west.He guideswhomHe willstoa path

straight.`142And thusWe made youa community(of) the middle way

�so that you will bewitnessesoverthe mankind,and will bethe Messenger

on youa witness.And notWe madethe direction of prayerwhich

you were used (to)[on it]exceptthat We make evident(he) whofollows

the Messengerfrom (he) whoturns backonhis heels.And indeed,it was

� �certainly a great (test)exceptforthose whomAllah guided.And notwill Allah

� let go wasteyour faith.Indeed, Allah(is) to [the] mankindFull of Kindness,

� Most Merciful.143Indeed,We see(the) turning(of) your face towards

�the heaven.So We will surely turn you (to the) direction of prayeryou will be pleased with.

�� �So turnyour facetowards the direction(of) the Al-Masjid Al-Haraamand wherever

you are[so] turnyour faces(in) its direction.And indeed,those whowere given

� � � the Booksurely knowthat it(is) the truthfromtheir Lord.And not(is) Allah

Surah 2: The cow (v. 142-144) Part - 2

142. The foolish amongthe people will say,`What has turned themfrom the direction ofprayer which they usedto (face).` Say, `ToAllah belong the eastand the west. He guideswhom He wills to thestraight path.`

143. And thus We havemade you a communityof the middle way sothat you will bewitnesses over mankindand the Messenger willbe a witness over you.And We appointed thedirection of the prayerwhich you used to facein order to makeevident he who followsthe Messenger from hewho turns back on hisheels. And indeed, itwas a great test exceptfor those whom Allahguided. And Allahwould not let go wasteyour faith. Indeed,Allah is Full ofKindness towardsmankind, the MostMerciful.

144. Indeed, We see theturning of your face (OMuhammad SAWS!),towards the heaven.Surely We will turnyou to a direction ofprayer that pleases you.So turn your facetowards the direction ofAl-Masjid Al-Haraam(Kabah). And whereveryou (believers) are, turnyour faces towards itsdirection. And indeed,those who were giventhe Book, know wellthat it is the truth fromtheir Lord. And Allahis not

unawareof whatthey do.144And even ifyou come(to) those who

were giventhe Bookwith allthe signs,notthey would followyour direction of prayer,

� and not(will) you bea follower(of) their direction of prayer.And notsome of them

(are) followers(of the) direction of prayer(of each) other.And ifyou followed

� � their desiresafter[what]came to youofthe knowledge,indeed, you

(would) then(be) surely amongthe wrongdoers.145(To) those whom

We gave [them]the Book,they recognize itlikethey recognizetheir sons.

And indeed,a groupof themsurely they concealthe Truthwhile theyknow.

146The Truth(is) fromyour Lord,so (do) notbeamongthe doubters.

� �147And for everyone(is) a direction -heturns towards it,so race

� � �(to) [the] good.Whereveryou will beAllah will bring youtogether.Indeed, Allah

� (is) oneverythingAll-Powerful.148And fromwhereveryou start forth,

��[so] turnyour face(in) the directionof Al-Masjid Al-Haraam.And indeed, it

� (is) surely the truthfromyour Lord.And not(is) Allahunawareof whatyou do.

149And fromwhereveryou start forth[so] turnyour face[in] the direction

Surah 2: The cow (v. 145-150) Part - 2

unaware of what theydo.

145. And even if youbring to those who weregiven the Book all thesigns, they would notfollow your direction ofprayer, nor will youfollow their direction ofprayer. And nor wouldthey be followers ofeach other s directionof prayer. And if youfollow their desiresafter knowledge hascome to you, thensurely you will beamong the wrongdoers.

146. Those to whom Wegave the Book,recognize it like theyrecognize their sons.But indeed, a group ofthem knowinglyconceal the Truth.

147. The Truth is fromyour Lord, so do not beamong the doubters.

148. And for everyone isa direction towardswhich he turns, so raceto good. Wherever youwill be, Allah will bringyou together. Indeed,Allah has power overeverything.

149. And from whereveryou start forth (forprayers) turn your facein the direction of theAl-Masjid Al-Haraam(Kabah). And indeed, itis the truth from yourLord. And Allah is notunaware of what youdo.

(of) the Al-Masjid Al-Haraam.And whereveryou (all) are[so] turnyour faces

(in) its direction,so that notwill befor the peopleagainst youany argument

exceptthose whowrongedamong them;so (do) notfear them,but fear Me.

And that I completeMy favorupon you[and] so that you may(be) guided.150

AsWe sentamong youa Messengerfrom you(who) recitesto you

� �Our versesand purifies youand teaches youthe Bookand the wisdom

and teaches youwhatnotyou were knowing.151So remember Me,

� � ��I will remember youand be grateful(to) Meand (do) not be ungrateful to Me.152

�O youwhobelieve[d]!Seek helpthrough patienceand the prayer.Indeed,

� Allah(is) withthe patient ones.153And (do) not sayfor the ones whoare slain

inthe wayof Allah(They are) dead.`Nay,(they are) alive[and] but

� you (do) not perceive.154And surely We will test youwith somethingof

[the] fearand [the] hungerand lossof [the] wealthand [the] livesand [the] fruits,

but give good news(to) the patient ones.155Those who,whenstrikes them

� � �a misfortune,they say,Indeed, we belong to Allahand indeed wetowards Him

Surah 2: The cow (v. 151-156) Part - 2

of the Al-Masjid Al-Haraam (Kabah). Andwherever you are, turnyour faces towards it, sothat the people will nothave any argumentagainst you except thewrongdoers amongthem, so do not fearthem but fear Me. Sothat I may complete Myfavor upon you, perhapsyou may be guided.

151. Similarly We sent toyou a Messenger fromamong you, who recitesto you Our verses andpurifies you and teachesyou the Book and thewisdom, and teachesyou what you were notknowing.

152. So remember Me, Iwill remember you.And be grateful to Meand do not beungrateful to Me.

153. O you who believe!Seek help throughpatience and the prayer.Indeed, Allah is withthe patient ones.

154. And do not say forthose who are slain inthe way of Allah, Theyare dead. Nay, they arealive, but you do notperceive.

155. And surely We willtest you with somethingof fear, hunger, loss ofwealth, lives and fruits;but give good news tothe patient ones.

156. Who, whenmisfortune strikes them,they say, Indeed, webelong to Allah andindeed to Him we

will return.`156Thoseon them(are) blessingsfrom their Lordand Mercy.

And those[they](are) the guided ones.157Indeed,the Safaand the Marwah

� � �(are) from (the) symbolsof Allah.So whoeverperforms Hajj(of) the Houseor

performs Umrah,so noblameon himthathe walksbetween [both of] them.

� ��And whoevervoluntarily doesgood,then indeed, Allah(is) All-Appreciative,

All-Knowing.158Indeed,those whoconcealwhatWe revealedof

� � the clear Proofs,and the Guidance,after[what] We made clearto the people

� inthe Book -those,Allah curses themand curse themthe ones who curse.

�159Exceptthosewho repent[ed]and reform[ed]and openly declar[ed].

� � Then those,I will accept repentancefrom them,and I (am)the Acceptor of Repentance,

� the Most Merciful.160Indeed, those whodisbelieve[d]and die[d]while they

(were) disbelievers,those,on them(is) the curseof Allah,and the Angels,

� �and the mankind,all together.161(Will) abide foreverin it.Will not be lightened

for themthe punishmentand nottheywill be reprieved.162And your God

� � � (is) one God;(there is) no godexceptHim,the Most Gracious,the Most Merciful.

Surah 2: The cow (v. 157-163) Part - 2

157. Those are the oneson whom are blessingsfrom their Lord andMercy. And they are theguided ones.

158. Indeed, the Safa andthe Marwah aresymbols of Allah. Sowhoever performs Hajjor Umrah, there is noblame on him forwalking between them.And whoever doesgood voluntarily, thenindeed, Allah is All-Appreciative, All-Knowing

159. Indeed, those whoconceal the clear proofsWe revealed, and theGuidance, after Wemade it clear for thepeople in the Book -they are cursed byAllah and cursed bythose who curse.

160. Except those whorepent and reformthemselves and openlydeclare, then fromthose, I will acceptrepentance, and I amthe Acceptor ofRepentance, the MostMerciful.

161. Indeed, those whodisbelieve and die asdisbelievers, upon themis the curse of Allah,the Angels and themankind all together. �

162. (They will) abide in itforever. The punishmentwill not be lightened forthem, nor will they bereprieved.

163. And your God is oneGod; there is no godexcept Him, the MostGracious, the MostMerciful.

163Indeed,inthe creationof the heavensand the earth,and alternation

of the nightand the day,and the shipswhichsailinthe seawith whatbenefits

� � � � �[the] people,and whatAllah (has) sent downfrom the sky[of] water,giving life thereby

� (to) the earthafterits death,and dispersingtherein[of] everymoving creature,

� and directing(of) the windsand the clouds[the] controlledbetweenthe sky

and the earth,surely (are) Signsfor a peoplewho use their intellect.164

� And amongthe mankindwhotakesbesidesAllahequals.They love them

� � as (they should) love Allah.And those whobelieve[d](are) stronger(in) lovefor Allah.

And if(would) seethose whowronged,whenthey will seethe punishmentthat

� � � all the power belongs to Allahand [that] Allah(is) severe(in) [the] punishment.165

��Whenwill disownthose whowere followed[from] thosewho followed

and they will seethe punishment,[and] will be cut offfor themthe relations.166

�� And saidthose whofollowed,(Only) if [that]for usa return,then we will disown

� [from] themasthey disown[from] us.`ThusAllah will show themtheir deeds

(as) regretsfor them.And nottheywill come outfromthe Fire.167

Surah 2: The cow (v. 164-167) Part - 2

164. Indeed, in thecreation of the heavensand the earth and thealternation of the nightand the day, and theships which sail in thesea with that whichbenefits people, andwhat Allah has sentdown from the sky ofrain, giving life therebyto the earth after itsdeath, and dispersingtherein of all kinds ofmoving creatures, anddirecting the winds andthe clouds controlledbetween the sky and theearth, surely are signsfor people who use theirintellect.

165. And (yet) amongmankind are some whotake for worship othersbesides Allah as equalsto Him. They love themas they should loveAllah. But those whobelieve are stronger intheir love for Allah. Andif only those whowronged could see,when they will see thepunishment, that allpowers belong to Allahand Allah is severe inpunishment.

166. When those whowere followed disownthose who followedthem, and they will seethe punishment and alltheir ties will be cut off.

167. And those whofollowed will say, Ifonly we had (one morechance) to return (to theworld), we woulddisown them as theyhave disowned us.`Thus Allah will showthem their deeds asregrets for them. Theywill never come out ofthe Fire.

O mankind!Eatof what(is) in the earth -lawful(and) good.And (do) not

followthe footsteps ofthe Shaitaan.Indeed, he(is) to youan enemyclear.

� 168Onlyhe commands youto (do) the eviland the shamefuland thatyou say

aboutAllahwhatnotyou know.169And whenit is saidto them,Follow

� whatAllah has revealed,`they said,Naywe followwhatwe found[on it]

�our forefathers (following) .Even though[were]their forefathers(did) not understand

� anythingand they were not guided?170And the example(of) those who

�disbelieve[d](is) like the example(of) the one whoshoutsat what(does) not hear

�exceptcallsand cries -deafdumb,(and) blind,[so] they (do) not understand.

� � �171O you whobelieve[d]!Eatfrom the goodwhat

� �We have provided youand be gratefulto Allahifyouworship Him alone.

172OnlyHe has forbiddento youthe dead animals,and [the] blood,

� � and flesh,of [the] swine,and what (has been) dedicated[with it]to other thanAllah.

So whoever(is) forced by necessitywithout(being) disobedientand not

� transgressor,then nosinon him.Indeed, Allah(is) Most Forgiving,Most Merciful.

Surah 2: The cow (v. 168-173) Part - 2

168. O mankind! Eatfrom whatever is on theearth - lawful and goodand do not follow thefootsteps of theShaitaan. Indeed, he isto you a clear enemy.

169. He (Shaitaan) onlycommands you to eviland immorality and tosay about Allah whatyou do not know.

170. And when it is saidto them, Follow whatAllah has revealed,`they said, Nay, we willfollow what we foundour forefathersfollowing. Eventhough their forefathersunderstood nothing,nor were they guided?

171. And the example ofthose who disbelieve islike the one (shepherd)who shouts at thatwhich hears nothingbut calls and cries -deaf, dumb, and blind,they do not understand.

172. O you who believe!Eat from the goodthings which We haveprovided you and begrateful to Allah if youworship Him alone.

173. He has onlyforbidden to you deadanimals, blood, theflesh of swine, and thatwhich has beendedicated to other thanAllah. But whoever iscompelled (bynecessity), without(willful) disobediencenor transgressing (thelimits) then there is nosin on him. Indeed,Allah is Oft-Forgiving,and Most Merciful.

173Indeed, those whoconcealwhat Allah (has) revealedof the Book,

� �and they purchasethere witha gainlittle.Those,not they eatin their bellies

� � � �exceptthe Fire.And Allah will not speak to them(on the) Day(of) [the] Judgment

� and He will not purify them,and for them(is) a punishmentpainful.174Those

�(are) they whopurchase[d][the] astrayingfor [the] Guidance,and [the] punishment

for [the] forgiveness.So what (is)their enduranceonthe Fire!175That

(is) becauseAllahrevealedthe Bookwith [the] Truth.And indeed,those

who differedinthe Book(are) surely inschismfar.176(It is) not

[the] righteousnessthatyou turnyour facetowardsthe eastand the west,

� [and] butthe righteous[ness](is he) whobelievesin Allahand the Day[the] Last,

�and the Angels,and the Book,and the Prophets,and givesthe wealth

� � in spite of his love (for it)(to) the near relatives,and the orphans,and the needy,

� �and the wayfarer,and those who ask,and infreeing the necks (slaves)

and (who) establishthe prayer,and givethe zakah,and those who fulfilltheir covenant

� ��whenthey make it;and those who are patientin [the] sufferingand [the] hardship,

Surah 2: The cow (v. 174-177) Part - 2

174. Indeed, those whoconceal what Allah hasrevealed of the Book,and purchase a smallgain therewith, they eatnothing except Fire intheir bellies. And Allahwill not speak to themon the Day ofJudgment, nor will Hepurify them, and theywill have a painfulpunishment.

175. Those are the oneswho buy astraying inplace of Guidance andpunishment in place offorgiveness. So what istheir endurance on theFire!

176. That is becauseAllah has sent down theBook in Truth. Andindeed, those whodiffer over the Book arein extreme dissension.

177. It is notrighteousness that youturn your faces towardsthe east or the west butit is righteousness tobelieve in Allah, theLast Day, the Angels,the Book, and theProphets and givewealth in spite of lovefor it to the nearrelatives, the orphans,the needy, the wayfarer,and those who ask, andin freeing the slaves;and (who) establish theprayer and give thezakah and those whofulfill the covenantwhen they make it; andthose who are patient insuffering, hardship,
