De Wever:• 2300 clients (elderly)• 2520 employees (1500 fulltime), 850 volunteers.• Tilburg and surrounding area (200.000 inhabitants).• 11 nursing homes, 2 treatment centres, 1 hospice,

home care, mobile care team.

Biggest challenge: increasing number of elderly people.

27% of population (23.000 persons) 65+

 

Goals for De Wever: keeping high standards of quantity and quality in professional care.

• AWBZ = legislation on access and financing for high risk health care.For example: dementia/Alzheimer, disability after stroke, long term care.

• Increasing pressure on costs.

• New legislation (1/1/2007): WMO.– More emphasis on participation of civilians in

well-fare and well-being.– Safety net for those who are not able to

participate.

– Decision making and coordination by local government (municipality).

– Competition on price and service level by healthcare providers.

• More individualisation, less family care.

• Focus on efficiency (government introduces competition and wants to control costs).

• Well-informed clients; communication is very important; one service desk (telephone and internet).

• Dementia support- and training centre (dementia consultants).

• ‘memory shop’ in association with ‘Alzheimer Nederland’, City of Tilburg and the province Noord-Brabant.

• Home care (mobile care team). • Care Innovation Centre (learning on the job),

with Fontys College and ROC.
