Electrical Engineering Department
Related to Med. Tech. Network projects, some of our faculty members have
been working in the areas of Biomedical and Biological engineering.
The general goal of their efforts is:
- to provide a person, group or organization with an interest in a project with real
world engineering experiences that entail working with a theoretical idea through
its practical application.
Possible areas of contribution to the GAST Network
- Some skills and knowledge of faculty members in biomedical engineering and
image processing areas.
- The design process of the device/equipment and the decision making process.

The Collaboration with Siriraj Hospital Research interests of the faculty members of the Department of Biochemistry at Siriraj
Hospital mainly focus on medical biochemistry and biotechnology.
Examples of them include;
- Molecular diagnostics of cancer
- Molecular genetics and pathology of human mitochondrial diseases
- Oxidative stress and roles of antioxidants in various diseases, e.g., thalassemia, diabetes
mellitus, and coronary heart disease
- Stem cell research
- Metabolism of iron and other trace elements, and
- Medical biotechnology (e.g. siRNA, antisense oligomers, aptamers).
In a collaboration with the clinicians in the hospital, it is to assist in collecting clinical
specimens required for the study and the sophisticated research equipments/facilities
necessary for the project e.g. flow cytometer, confocal microscope, real‐time PCR machine,
cell culture rooms, etc.
