Thuiswedstrijd voor Janssen-Fritsen

De kwalificatie voor de Olympische Spelen van 2012 gaat tijdens het WK in Rotterdam serieus van start. 24 Teams zullen zich pré-kwalificeren tijdens deze eerste selectiewedstrijd. Geturnd wordt er op toestellen van het Nederlandse bedrijf Janssen-Fritsen. Janssen-Fritsen is de officiële lever-ancier van alle turntoestellen die gebruikt worden tijdens het WK. Directeur Hans Bres tekende de overeenkomst met de organisatoren van het WK tijdens het NK. Niet alleen in de wedstrijdhal komen toestellen van Janssen-Fritsen te staan. Ook de zeven trainingshallen worden er mee ingericht. Het wordt de twaalfde keer dat Janssen-Fritsen de toestellen levert voor een WK. Nadat het bedrijf vijf olympische organisaties heeft bijgestaan met toestellen en ondersteuning, spelen de technici van Janssen-Fritsen deze keer een thuiswedstrijd. Tijdens de Spelen van Mexico, München, Barcelona, Athene en Beijing stonden de toestellen van Janssen-Fritsen te pronken op de podia in het turnstadion. Topkwaliteit toestellen voor topturners. Janssen-Fritsen levert die en brengt daarmee het WK in Rotterdam op olympisch niveau. Het bedrijf uit Helmond zorgt er ook voor dat er tijdens de trainingsdagen seminars worden gegeven door topcoaches. Er zal verder een showroom zijn waar de nieuwste ontwikkelingen op het gebied van turntoestellen te zien zullen zijn. Janssen-Fritsen is al meer dan vijftig jaar toonaangevend in de ontwikkeling en productie van gymnastiektoestellen. Top wedstrijdtoestellen voor de sterren van de Olympische Spelen, methodische trainingstoestellen voor de sterren van morgen en een groot assortiment aan kwalitatief hoog-waardige toestellen voor het bewegingsonderwijs.

WK Turnen 2010: Fantastic Gymnastics in Ahoy

Met minder dan een jaar te gaan, tellen alle turnfans ongeduldig af naar hét turnevenement van 2010: het WK Turnen 2010 in Ahoy Rotterdam. Van 17 tot en met 24 oktober 2010 strijden de allerbeste turnsters en turners ter wereld om de felbegeerde medailles in de eerste kwalificatieronde van deze olympische cyclus. In juni 2009 hebben we al kunnen proeven van de zinderende sfeer van een groots toernooi in Ahoy. Als test-event voor het WK had de KNGU haar NK’s samengebracht onder de titel ‘Fantastic Gymnastics Ahoy 2009’. Een onvergetelijk weekend werd het. Gymsporters en fans die samen één bijzonder turnfeestje met elkaar bouwden: al sportende, al kijkende, al genietende van alle bedrijvigheid en gezelligheid. Het toonde aan hoe prachtig de turnsport is om te zien, om te beleven, om te doen. Ga eens kijken bij de vereniging in je eigen woonplaats of bezoek het WK in Ahoy.

‘Fantastic Gymnastics’ is het WK-motto. Het verwijst naar de adembenemende turnoefeningen die te zien zullen zijn en naar de sfeer tijdens het grootste turnevenement dat ooit in Nederland heeft plaatsgevonden. De toeschouwers kunnen zelf ook ervaren hoe leuk het is om te turnen, te springen of te dansen. In de hallen van het uitgestrekte Ahoy-complex worden namelijk diverse zogenaamde side-events georganiseerd. Het WK Turnen 2010 gaat zonder meer een belevenis worden voor deelnemers en publiek. Duizenden mensen uit alle werelddelen komen naar Rotterdam. Allemaal willen ze het op de Olympische Spelen na grootste internationale titeltoernooi in de turnsport meebeleven. Het WK 2010 is nu al historisch te noemen. In 1987 was er ook een WK in ons land, maar in 2010 hebben de Oranjeteams een reële kans op preolympische kwalificatie. Daar moet je gewoon bij zijn. The qualification for the 2012 Olympics will seriously start at the World Championships in Rotterdam. 24 Teams will pre-qualify at this first selection competition. The exercises will be performed on apparatus from the Dutch company Janssen-Fritsen. Janssen-Fritsen will be the official supplier of all the equipment used during the Championships. During the Dutch National Championships Janssen-Fritsen signed the agreement with the organizers of the Worlds 2010. The competition arena and all the training halls will be filled with equipment from Janssen-Fritsen. It will be the 12th time Janssen-Fritsen supplies a FIG World Championship with their equipment. After having assisted the organizers of five Olympic Games with the apparatus and technical expertise the JF technicians will now have a home game. During the Games of Mexico, Munich, Barcelona, Athens and Beijing the equipment of Janssen- Fritsen was a feast to the eye on the platforms in the gymnastics stadium. Top equipment for top gymnasts. Janssen-Fritsen is the supplier and therefore brings the World Championships in Rotterdam to Olympic level. During the training days the company from the Dutch city of Helmond will organise seminars given by top coaches. Also Janssen-Fritsen presents a showroom with the latest developments in equipment. Janssen-Fritsen has over 50 years of experience in developing, producing gymnastics equipment.

World Championships 2010: Fantastic Gymnastics

With less than a year to go all gymnastics fans are counting down to the World Championships Artistic Gymnastics 2010 in Ahoy Rotterdam. From October 17th till October 24th 2010 the best gymnasts of the world will compete for the medals in the first qualification round in the new Olympic cycle. In June 2009 we already tasted the atmosphere of a great championship in Ahoy. The Dutch National Championships took place in this outstanding venue and served as a test-event for the World title. Gymnasts and gymnastic fans together built a gymnastics party. In Ahoy they demonstrated how nice it is to watch gymnastics, to experience it and to do it yourself. Go and watch gym-nastics at a club in your hometown or visit the World Championships in Ahoy.

‘Fantastic Gymnastics’ is the World title‘s motto. It refers to the breathtaking gymnastic performances which will be shown and to the atmosphere during the largest gymnastics event that ever took place in the Netherlands. The spectators themselves can also experience how nice it is to practise gymnastics, jump or dance because in different halls of the Ahoy venue several so-called side-events are organised. Op weg naar Ahoy

Het WK Turnen 2009 is geweest. Op steenworp afstand van ons land in de O2 Arena in Londen. Alle fans hebben genoten van deze individuele titelstrijd zonder landenteamwedstrijd. De nieuwe kampioenen zijn bekend, het eerste visitekaartje in de nieuwe olympische cyclus is afgegeven. Alle ogen richten zich nu op het komende WK, want dat belooft nog mooier te worden.

Het WK wordt in Ahoy Rotterdam gehouden en dat betekent dat alle Nederlandse turnfans dichtbij huis kunnen genieten van topturnen. Het mondiale toernooi is dan een ‘groot WK’. Dat wil zeggen een WK met ook een landenwedstrijd. Het is voor alle nationale ploegen het eerste kwalificatiemoment voor de Olympische Spelen van 2012. Elk land dat met een team op de Spelen wil staan, zal in Rotterdam een topteam moeten opstellen.Iedere deelnemer wacht in de Nederlandse havenstad een serieuze uitdaging. Alle nationale en internationale turn toppers bereiden zich nu al voor op de pittige strijd die in Ahoy moet worden geleverd. Reikhalzend kijken turnlief hebbers op deze aardbol uit naar dit grootse evenement. Topturnen op hoog niveau en zinderende spanning met de mogelijkheid dat van heel dichtbij mee te beleven.

‘Dromen van het WK’ Iedereen leeft toe naar het WK Turnen 2010 in Ahoy Rotterdam. Sporters, trainers, juryleden, bestuursleden en supporters. Ze dromen ervan om erbij te zijn en het turn moment van hun leven te beleven.Zoals de Portugese turner Manuel Campos, nummer zes op het EK 2007 in Amsterdam, de beste prestatie ooit voor zijn land: “Mijn doel is een foutloze meerkamp te turnen in Rotterdam. Zo hoop ik het maximaal aantal punten voor Portugal binnen te halen. We willen een plaats bij de beste 24 landen en zo in de race blijven voor de olympische tickets. Nederland en Portugal zijn altijd aan elkaar gewaagd, maar de strijd onderling kenmerkt zich door wederzijds respect.”

Moeder van wijlen Joey van Dijken:“Joey droomde van het WK in Ahoy, dat was zijn doel. Nu hij er niet meer is, moeten jullie het voor hem doen. Dat zou hij zeker tof vinden.”Joey van Dijken was a young Dutch gymnast who sadly passed away in 2007. His mother said: “Joey always dreamed about the World Champion-ships in Ahoy, they were his goal. Now he isn’t here anymore, you guys have to do it for him. He would have liked that!”

The Road to Ahoy

The World Championships 2009 are over now. All the fans enjoyed these individual championships in the O2 Arena in London. The new champions are known and the first cards are left in the new Olympic cycle. All eyes are now focused on the World Championships in 2010.

The World Championships will be held in Ahoy Rotterdam and that means good news for the gymnastics fans in Europe because it is easy for them to visit the event. Rotterdam is the first qualification moment for the national teams on their way to the Olympic Games in 2012. Every country that wants to compete in London 2012 has to build a perfect team for the World Championships in 2010. Each participant will have a serious challenge in Rotterdam. All national and inter-national gymnasts are preparing for the exciting competition in Ahoy. Every gymnastics fan looks forward to this big event in Rotterdam. Elite artistic gymnastics on a high level, an exciting competition and the possibility to watch it at close quarters.

Gymnasts, coaches, members of the jury, directors and supporters will be able to make their dreams come true. Portuguese gymnast Manuel Campos, number 6 at the European Championships 2007 in Amsterdam: “My goal is to achieve a flawless all-around competition to get the maximum score for Portugal. With a place between the best 24 countries we hope to have a chance for the Olympic tickets. Portugal and the Netherlands are well matched, nonetheless the competition between the countries is characterized by mutual respect.”

Rotterdam meet economische impact WK Turnen

Rotterdam is dé Sportstad van Nederland. Geen stad kent jaarlijks zoveel (top)sportevenementen als Rotterdam. Nationale, Europese- en wereld kampioen-schappen worden afgewisseld met jaarlijkse evenementen, zoals: de Rotterdam Marathon, het CHIO (hippische sport), het ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament, maar ook unieke evenementen als Bavaria City Racing en de Red Bull Air Race.

Rotterdam bereidt zich voor op een serie internationale topsportevenementen. Met drie achtereenvolgende WK’s, drie EK’s en de start van ’s werelds grootste wielerspektakel, de Tour de France zijn de woorden ‘sport’ en ‘Rotterdam’ de komende jaren synoniem aan elkaar. Rotterdam zet zich met deze evenementen stevig op de kaart, maar wat levert het nog meer op? Om dit te onderzoeken is er een landelijke werkgroep ‘Evaluatie sportevenementen’ opgericht. De Hogeschool Rotterdam gaat de economische impact van onder andere het WK Turnen in Rotterdam onderzoeken.

Hans Zouthoutmaar van Rotterdam Topsport is lid van die werkgroep: “Sport-evenementen als het WK Turnen zijn een belangrijk onderdeel van de Rotterdamse citymarketing. Ze zijn een prachtige gelegenheid om Rotterdam op de kaart te zetten. Met dit onderzoek willen we de (economische) effecten aantonen.” Met het onderzoek worden de bestedingen tijdens het evenement in kaart gebracht en is er aandacht voor het op betrouwbare wijze meten van het aantal bezoekers. Er wordt nauw samengewerkt met NOC*NSF, zodat de onderzoeksmethode straks bij alle grote sportevenementen gebruikt kan worden en de evenementen kunnen worden vergeleken. De onderzoeken spelen een belangrijke rol binnen het Olympisch Plan 2028.

The effect of the World Championships on Rotterdam

Rotterdam is the number one City of Sports in the Netherlands. No city offers as many (top-class) sporting events a year as Rotterdam. National, European and world championships alternate with annual events, such as the Rotterdam Marathon, the CHIO (equestrian event), the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament, but also unique events like Bavaria City Racing and the Red Bull Air Race.

Rotterdam is preparing itself for a series of international top-class sporting events. With three successive World championships, three European championships and the start of the world’s biggest cycling event, the Tour de France, the words ‘sports’ and ‘Rotterdam’ will be synonymous in the coming years. These events will put Rotterdam firmly on the map, but what else will they generate? In order to look into this, a national Sporting Events Evaluation Working Group has been set up. Rotterdam Hogeschool (University of Applied Sciences) is going to conduct some research into the economic impact of, for example, the World Championships Artistic Gymnastics in Rotterdam.

Hans Zouthoutmaar from Rotterdam Topsport is a member of this working group: “Sporting events like the World Championships Artistic Gymnastics are an important part of Rotterdam’s city marketing. They are a splendid opportunity to put Rotterdam on the map. Through this research, we want to demonstrate the (economic) impact.” Expenditure during the event will be noted, for example, and attention will be paid to counting the number of visitors in a reliable way. There will be close cooperation with NOC*NSF, so that the research method can be used during all major sporting events and the events can be compared. The studies play an important role in the Olympic Plan 2028.

Ahoy wordt nog mooier

Na bijna veertig jaar historie wordt het Sportpaleis van Ahoy nu verbouwd. De opdracht behelst het uitbreiden, aanpassen en renoveren van het Sportpaleis dat in eigendom is van de gemeente Rotterdam. Met deze investering geeft de gemeente een belangrijke impuls aan de economie.

De evenemententempel is rond 1970 gebouwd als overdekte wieler- en ijsbaan. De afgelopen jaren heeft het gebouw een veel breder gebruik gekend als één van de meest toonaangevende, multifunctionele indoor-arena’s van Europa. Concerten van grote (inter)nationale artiesten, sportwedstrijden, shows, bedrijfsevenementen en vele andere evene-menten passeerden er de revue. Zo vond het WK Turnen hier al eens eerder plaats, en wel in 1987. De modernisering maakt onderdeel uit van de gebiedsontwikkeling Hart van Zuid. Het Zuidpleingebied onder-gaat de komende jaren een geweldige metamorfose. Infrastructuur, detailhandel, vermaak en ontspanning, wonen, werken en onderwijs krijgen een enorme impuls. De renovatie van het Sport paleis is één van de eerste grote bouwprojecten binnen dit project.

Tot eind 2010 wordt het Sportpaleis grondig gemoderniseerd. Zo wordt de bezoekerscapaciteit vergroot en krijgt de beleving van de bezoeker bijzondere aandacht. Het gebouwvolume wordt zoveel mogelijk in tact gelaten. Alleen daar waar nodig is er een uitbreiding voorzien. De productietechnische eigenschappen van het gebouw worden opgewaardeerd om onder meer aan de eisen van internationale pop artiesten te blijven voldoen. Gebouweigenaar Ontwikkelingsbedrijf Rotterdam grijpt de noodzakelijke renovatie aan om het Sportpaleis zo te verbouwen dat de accommodatie bij de beste van Europa zal blijven behoren. Ahoy becomes more beautiful

After almost 40 years of history, the Arena of Ahoy is now being modernized. Improvement of visitor comfort and acoustics, capacity expansion to 13,500 and a complete new roof: these are some of the key plans for the modernization of the Arena of Ahoy Rotterdam.

Ahoy Rotterdam consists of two divisions; the Ahoy Venue and Ahoy Congress & Event Management which produces around 30 event titles. The Ahoy accommodation, which is owned by the municipality of Rotterdam, consists of the Arena, six big event halls (total space 30,000 m2) and a Congress & Meeting Centre. No major renovation has taken place within the indoor arena since it opened in 1971. Ahoy has a prominent (inter)national position as a venue for events, thanks to its varied programming, great atmosphere and good location, Ahoy welcomes the initiative of the municipality of Rotterdam to renovate and modernise the venue after 40 years. It is a good start for maintaining Ahoy’s (inter)national position in the coming decades.

The WCh Artistic Gymnastics took place in Ahoy before, in 1987. During the coming tournament in October, the Arena will be almost completely modernised. The planned modernization involves an expansion of the capacity from 10,500 to 13.500, an improvement in quality and comfort and a new roof, that meets contemporary requirements in terms of height and load-bearing capacity. The atmosphere and typical design features will be preserved. Historical awareness is an important part of the moderni zation process. In January 2011 Ahoy is expected to have a fantastic new Arena.
