2016 Term 3 Week 2
Principal’s Message Welcome back to Term 3
I would like to welcome everyone back to school for
Term 3. We have welcomed a few new families to
our school this Term and a few families have moved
back to the area. I hope that the new students settle
quickly into the school’s routines and activities.
Next week is Education Week and we have a full
program of events planned to highlight and celebrate
our students, staff and school. This is an excellent
opportunity for family members to get involved with
our school and be involved in your child’s education.
We hope you will take the time to look at our program of events and come and join the fun.
Increasing Enrolments
Our student numbers continue to grow and we now
have the numbers for 23 classes. This has created a
new teaching position and we have employed Miss
Sam Bourke to fill this position. We also had another
demountable classroom installed at the school and
this is situated next to 2L. When our numbers
increase to this level we reviewed our classes, and in
some circumstances need to change class structures.
At this stage, we have no immediate plans to form a
new class in the short term. Thanks to our hard-
working teachers who as always put the needs of
their students first, to ensure continuity of learning.
Kindergarten 2015
Please make sure you get your enrolment papers in
as soon as possible so we can start organising our
class groups and have everything organised to make
sure your child’s first days at TBPS are happy and
successful. Also if you know of anyone who intends
to enrol their child in kindergarten at TBPS next year
who is not currently involved with the school
encourage them to contact us as soon as possible.
Our Transition program is starting very soon and we
hope to get as many families as possible to our
parent information evening, Teddy Bears Picnic and
our orientation days.

Flexischools Online Canteen
Starting in Term 3, we will be implementing the
option of online Canteen orders through
FlexiSchools. This will give our families the option of
ordering lunch and recess from computers,
smartphones and tablets without worrying about
lunch orders being left in school bags, finding change
or lost money. The P&C have worked with the NSW
Department of Health to have our Canteen menu
coded using the green, amber and red health food
traffic lights and these will be integrated into the
online ordering process. More information is
available from www.flexischools.com.au and further
details will be sent home before the end of the Term
about this exciting new option.
Canteen
GREAT NEWS! The online canteen ordering system
is up and running. Our first week has been very
successful with many families choosing this easy lunch
order option. We have received numerous positive
comments on the implementation of this easy to use
service. Follow the link below to register and check
out how easy ordering school lunches can be!
https://www.flexischools.com.au
Remember, all lunch order labels that are placed in
the raffle box at the canteen will go in the running
to win a canteen voucher. The raffle will be drawn
each Friday. The raffle is running for 4 weeks. The
final raffle will be draw on 19 August, 2016.
Sports News
Tanilba Bay P.S Athletics Carnival will be held on
Monday week 4 the 8th of August at 2pm. Students
will receive a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place ribbon if they have
been placed in the top 3 fastest times in their age
group as we did not have time for finals this year due
to terrible weather. Zone athletics will be held at
Raymond Terrace on the 9th of August for field
events and the 12th of August for track events.
Students who have qualified for zone will receive a
note this week. I would like to congratulate Tanilba
Bay students on outstanding behaviour whilst
representing their school at sport.
Yours in Sport,
Mr Gattenhof
Stage 1
Stage 1 have had a busy start to the term with our
wonderful NAIDOC celebrations and Public Speaking

What fantastic speeches! A big congratulations to
Jaiden-Lee Fraser from 2A and Billy Knoke from 1M

the Zone Public Speaking Finals. We are all looking

Stage 2
Welcome back to Term 3.
We started off the Term with our Author/Illustrator
workshop with Cameron Stelzer which was great
fun.
Last week we celebrated NAIDOC where we shared
stories with other classes, played games and
completed artworks.
In Science we are learning about products and
packaging and in Geography we are examining
features and characteristics of places and
environments.
At this time of the year we would ask that you check
that your child has all their class equipment such as
lead pencils, coloured pencils, sharpener, glue and
ruler for daily learning activities.
We are looking forward to a wonderful Term.
Important Notice for parents/carers of
Catholic children:
If you have a child in Years 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, and that
child has been baptised, that child is eligible to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (in the past
this Sacrament was called Confession) towards the
end of this year, in preparation for receiving the
Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy
Communion next year.
On Wednesday 19th October at 7pm in St Brigid’s
School Hall (cnr William & Irrawang Streets
Raymond Terrace) there will be an information and
enrolment night for PARENTS/CARERS who would
like their eligible children to receive the Sacrament of
Reconciliation.
NB: It is essential that at least one parent or carer
attends this meeting to enrol their child/children.
Please contact St Brigid’s parish office on 49871888
(email: [email protected] ) if needing
further information.
The Parish Office is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays,
Thursdays and Fridays from 9am – 3pm.

Canteen Online Ordering
Our school has now introduced a great new online
ordering system for our Canteen, called
FlexiSchools. This system allows parents, students
and staff to place orders from home, work or school
at any time. The payment is also done online, so less
paper bags and cash are sent via your student to
school. As well as being convenient for parents, the
online orders are much faster and easier for Robyn
our Canteen Manager and our canteen volunteers to
process - so it makes everyone’s life a little easier.
FlexiSchools is well established and tested, operating
in hundreds of schools across Australia.
Getting online is easy and only takes a few minutes
to register. Simply go to www.flexischools.com.au
and click “Register Now”. You will be sent an
email with further instructions on how to complete
the registration. If you have any questions, FlexiSchools provide a great help desk on 1300 361
769, or you can contact them via their website.
There are a variety of payment options supported,
including Visa, Mastercard (credit and debit) Paypal
and Bank Transfer. The system operates via a pre-
paid account, so you no longer have to worry about
the manual process of sending payments into school,
and you can easily budget your students spending and
expenses throughout the year.
You can register now and the ordering system
will be available TUESDAY 19TH JULY, so we
look forward to seeing your next order online!
