Sleep Therapy Mask with Advanced Flexible Mask TubingFor patients who change positions throughout the night, it’s often diffi cult to maintain a proper mask seal. That’s why we developed new OptiLife™ mask tubing that is highly fl exible at the critical point where the tubing meets the mask. The result is an optimal seal in any position – and a natural fi t to your patients’ sleep styles. Our new CradleCushion™ is an ideal choice for those who want a minimal-contact mask and prefer an alternative to the pillows cushion on OptiLife™.

The goLITE® light therapy device is designed to provide a natural solution for circadian-related sleep problems, mood and energy levels. Incorporating exclusive BLUEWAVE® technology, the goLITE® offers patients a fast response in just minutes a day, without the unwanted side effects of drugs or artifi cial stimulants.

Pure Water. Clean Air. Better World.Mercury Removal from Natural Gas

Why is Mercury a Problem?

The presence of elemental mercury in wellhead natural gas has been

well documented. Mercury-induced corrosion of LNG aluminum alloy

cryogenic exchangers has led to many instances of equipment fail-

ure, and mercury present in a hydrogen, syngas or hydrocarbon gas

stream shortens the useful lives of many precious metal catalysts.

From both worker safety and environmental perspectives, mercury

removal may be necessary. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health

Administration (OSHA) has set exposure regulations for inorganic

mercury compounds, which are also regulated as an air toxin under

the Clean Air Act Amendments. In many cases, it is important to

remove mercury from the source to minimize process emissions.

The Activated Carbon Solution

Calgon Carbon Corporation has been defining system requirements

and supplying HGR activated carbon products for mercury removal

to natural gas plants for more than 40 years using an extensive

performance database produced from both lab and field studies.

Our products and technologies are proven to be effective, and

continue to be the benchmark of performance for natural gas

applications under most treatment conditions.

We are rethinking

the way concrete is manufactured.

ElemixT additive, our innovative product

that delivers sustainable benefits, is helping

people build smarter in bold, tangible ways.

We are committed to the triple-bottom-line

approach to sustainability—economic,

social, and environmental. Our belief is that

a sustainable business is a profitable and

socially responsible one.

Reuse of material is important, and concrete

made with Elemix additive may be recycled

for reuse in many applications.

ENVIRONMENTAL Elemix additive is a patented, manufactured product that supplements naturally occurring aggregates, decreasing the impact of construction on the environment. Through the lightweight properties of Elemix additive, source reduction can be achieved while still maintaining the strength and durability requirements for concrete and allowing builders to consume less material overall. Products made with Elemix additive typically use fewer trucks to transport materials, reducing oil consumption and greenhouse gas emissions throughout the supply chain.

SOCIAL The lightweight properties of Elemix additive provide a safer working environment. Loads are lightened significantly, lessening the effect of manually transported concrete on employees. The design flexibility achieved with Elemix additive enables architects and engineers to create spaces with better usable square footage. This flexibility increases the opportunity for a structure to be repurposed, resulting in a longer lifespan.

ECONOMIC Elemix additive improves the thermal characteristics of concrete. As the R-value increases, energy demand can decrease, resulting in lower heating and cooling costs for buildings. And the global, consistent availability of Elemix additive helps to streamline product offerings for businesses operating in multiple geographies, delivering a standard solution, regardless of location.

FullLifeThe FullLife minimal-contact, full-face

mask is designed for patients who

need a full-face mask but prefer

something more compact and with a

clear line of sight. It is smaller and lighter, durable, and exceptionally quiet.

Leaks are reduced with a dual-textured, grooved cushion that accommodates

patient movement, and the cushion’s SST flap enhances comfort.

NEW ComfortGelSome say that with ComfortGel we

wrote the book on what a nasal mask

should be. With more than 15 years of

experience with Gel technology, we could have

been content. Instead we set out to write the

next chapter — now with tougher faceplate

sockets, higher-strength materials, and a new, robust socket wall design.

FitLifeThe FitLife total-face mask solves issues

that can greatly impact the ability to

establish effective therapy and comfort,

such as nasal bridge breakdown, facial

irregularities, facial hair, dentures, and claustrophobia. It quickly establishes

a robust seal around the less pressure-sensitive perimeter of the face,

while maintaining an unrestricted view.

Alice PDxThe Alice PDx portable diagnostic recording

device is intended for obstructive sleep apnea

Think Green. The sustainable benefits of specifyingARCEL® advanced foam resin for your products.

This Recycling

Spotlight is one in a series

demonstrating how ARCEL

resin enables molders and

manufacturers to address

their sustainability concerns.

ARCEL resin is a sustainable

foam packaging solution

that reduces package size

and environmental footprint

while providing superb

packaging properties.

RADVA Corporation thinks greenRADVA Corporation currently recycles ARCEL advanced foam resin and other materials

recognized by SPI as resin identification code #6 to produce new, sustainable foamproducts, such as protective packaging, molded shapes, displays, trays and

containers. RADVA products can be made with up to 35% recycled ARCELresin, minimizing the consumption of natural resources and reducing the

contribution to landfills.

There are two ways to minimize landfill use: source reductionand recycling. RADVA is keenly aware of the responsibility of

protecting our environment. RADVA products are manufacturedfrom ARCEL resin, EPS and other engineered cellular foams that

are 100 percent recyclable. These products also contribute to sourcereduction because their light weight reduces package volume. Moreover,

these products reduce solid waste by serving as top-notch protection duringshipping and handling—preventing damage to thousands of products that would

otherwise wind up in landfills. In addition, the production of foam resins requires lessenergy than what’s needed to produce comparable cushioning products.

RADVA prides itself on producing the quickest, most cost-effective tools and molds forits customers. By recycling ARCEL resin, RADVA products provide sustainable solutionsas they minimize landfill use through source reduction and recycling.

About ARCEL advanced foam resinARCEL advanced foam resin is a high-performance foam packaging solutionthat provides superb cushioning for damage-sensitive goods, such asflat-panel televisions, furniture and appliances, while maintaining theprotective properties of traditional foam packaging. ARCEL resin canreduce the packaging of your product by up to 40%, resulting in theincrease of units per truck or pallet. The “domino effect” continuesin the reduction of energy consumption, as wellas in fuel and gas emissions. The RADVA recycling processUpon receiving post-consumer waste at the recycling center in Radford, Virginia, RADVACorporation sorts the clean, approved foam into specific categories. Once it is groundand granulated, meter and mixing units determine the percentage of recycled material thatwill be used to produce new products. It is then molded into new products and finishedgoods, such as packaging foam, insulated containers, wine bottle shippers, and customshapes and forms. RADVA products can be made with up to 35% recycled ARCEL resin. This recycling process enables ARCEL resin to extend its life beyond its original form, helping you to achieve your sustainability goals.

How can you recycle ARCEL resin?RADVA Corporation serves as a recycling drop-off facility for ARCEL resin and othermaterials recognized by SPI as resin identification code #6. Please call 1.800.35.RADVAto arrange for your materials to be recycled. To learn more about RADVA Corporation, visit www.radva.com.

In addition, some members of the Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers in NorthAmerica are capable of recycling ARCEL resin. Visit www.epspackaging.org or call1.410.451.8340 for information on recycling locations that accept ARCEL packaging, recycling equipment and other recycling matters.

Improving Safety and Reliability of Pressurised Water Reactor Auxiliary Feedwater Pump Systems

TWL Combined Turbine/Pump Upgrade Package

Continued, reliable operation of auxiliary feedwater (AFW)

pumps is vital to nuclear plant safety during a station blackout

(SBO). The Turbine Water Lubricated (TWL) Pump is a

combined centrifugal pump and turbine designed specifically

for nuclear safety applications. It requires no external power

or additional support systems to provide continued, remote

operation during prolonged periods of power outage.

Steam-driven, it provides reliable pumping of water from the

emergency feedwater storage tank to the steam generators

for core heat removal in the event that the main feedwater

system is unavailable.

Benefits of upgrading to a TWL Pump

• Extended SBO AFW operation—no electrical power

required, so is not dependent on station batteries or

manual operation

• Easier maintenance than a traditional pump and

turbine arrangement with fewer components and

compact design, enabling easier accessibility

• Proven, reliable operation

• Reduced fire risk due to no oil requirement

• Discharge head, flow rates, and required steam

conditions meet or exceed existing pressurised

water reactor (PWR) installation requirements

The TWL is manufactured as a combined pump and turbine

on a single shaft in a monoblock casing. It is approximately

half the size of traditional pump/turbine arrangements and

provides a compact, light pumping solution that is easy to

retrofit and more easily accessible for simplified maintenance.

It has fewer parts than systems that use separate turbines,

pumps, and couplings, and has a design that should

offer improved reliability, better performance, and easier

maintenance. With no need for any electrical power, it

is designed to extend SBO coping duration beyond

the capabilities of existing turbine-driven

pump sets in nuclear power plants.

Designed for reliable operation—no matter what happens• Completely self-contained solution—no lubricating oil, cooling water, electrical, pneumatic, or other external services required• Can run and start-up under completely flooded conditions• Designed to withstand seismic events• No drive couplings and no alignment issues• Eliminates failure modes such as those identified in NUREG reports: - Water lubricated bearings ensure reliable operation without the need for oil systems - Self-contained governor and controls require no external services• No potential leak paths as the shaft does not penetrate the casing and there are no mechanical seals between pumped fluid and the atmosphere• Rapid hot or cold start-up• No overshoot beyond running speed• Accommodates water slugs both at start-up and during normal operation with no detrimental impact to equipment• Compact design

How does the TWL operate? The TWL is designed for simple, reliable operation without the need for any electrical power. On demand, the mechanical governor arrangement quickly accelerates the TWL to operational speed without the need for any additional supporting services such as oil systems, pneumatics, etc.

The TWL employs a venturi in the pump discharge branch to measure pressure that is proportional to the pump flow. This pressure acts across the piston of the governor, providing a mechanical action that throttles the steam flow to the turbine. At start-up, the throttle is fully open, allowing rapid acceleration.

As the speed increases, the duty flow and pressure are met and the governor moves to control the steam. The mechanism is fully mechanical and requires no external signals or controls.

Proven, accredited, testedSPX ClydeUnion Pumps manufactures Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 pumps for nuclear power plants and has ASME, 10CFR50 Appendix B Program, RCC-M, RCC-MX, HAF604, and ‘N’ stamp accreditation. It has proven capability with pumps installed in more than 65% of operational nuclear power plants and more than 50 years of experience in supplying nuclear pumping solutions. The TWL Pump/Turbine set has full nuclear quality assurance and has been installed in nuclear power plants throughout Europe, China, South Korea, and Taiwan, with more than 30 years of successful operating history as a safety related pump.

Submergence tested for complete peace of mindThe TWL has a single casing design with no shaft protrusions, enabling it to start and operate while fully submerged. Extensive testing at SPX’s Glasgow facility has shown that it will maintain safety performance and continue to operate with no adverse effects or detrimental changes to performance for a minimum of eight hours. During this time, the pump can be started and stopped, again with no detriment to its performance.
