SUMMARY
A diamond core drill program was completed by Western Quebec Mines Inc. on behalf of the Joubi Joint Venture during the month of February 1988 on the Range Line Zone area of the Joubi property.
The program involved 1,739 meters of BQ sized core drilling in eight (8) holes. The primary objective was to evaluate the North Zone, an isolated high grade intersection north of the granodiorite/volcanic contact encountered in hole D-14 on section 2+25E.
A secondary objective was to further investigate and delineate the Range Line Zone east of and including section 1+20E.
Encouraging gold values were encountered in hole 77-137, located on section main mineralized zone assayed (0.12 oz/ton) over a 4.0 meter core appears to correlate with the main sections in holes D-08, D-07, 010-120
1+20E. The 4.13 gr/ton length and mineralized
and 010-121.
This mineralized section was encountered at a depth of 235 meters and thus has added approximately 10,000 tons of ore grade material to our previously calculated ore reserves.
The North Zone structure was intersected in hole 77-130, located underneath hole D-14 on section 2+25E and yielded a gold value of 3.2 gr/ton over a 1.0 meter core length. Strong nearby faulting is believed responsible for the lack of continuity of this structure to the east or west of section 2+25E, however anomaleous gold values were encountered north of the granodiorite contact in surrounding holes 77-132 and 77-131.
2
The deep mineralized structure encountered in hole 77-136 on section 1+35E is also very similar to that found in 77-130 and could possibly be related to it.
3
CONCLUSIONS
Results of the winter 1988 Joubi Joint Venture diamond core drill program have led to the following conclusions:
1. Economic gold values within the Range Line Zone gradually diminish at approximately section 1+65E indicating the eastern limits of the shoots within the Range Line Zone are around section 1+80E (as known at this time).
2. The Range Line Zone becomes severely foliated and contorted with abundant small quartz-partings, carbonate laminations and becomes less magnetic, to the east of the property.
3. The high grade gold value encountered in the Range Line Zone on section 1+20E at a depth of 235 meters is directly related to a green mineralized cherty quartz vein.
4. The mineralized quartz-tourmaline structure (North Zone) encountered north of the granodiorite/volcanic contact in holes D-14 and 77-130 appears to be faulted and could possibly correlate with the deep mineralized structure encountered in hole 77-136. This will be a primary target for underground drilling.
5. The full geological model is still a difficult one to assess from surface drilling.
4
6. High grade zones encountered within the granodiorite in hole D-10 on section 1+20E were not intersected in hole 77-137 and therefore must run sub-parallel to the core axis of hole D-10. This again will be a primary underground exploration target.
5
RECOMMENDATIONS
Results of the winter 1988 diamond core drilling program have led to the following recommendations:
1. Based on erratic anomaleous gold values encountered north of the granodiorite west of section 1+50E and to the deep ore grade inter-section of the Range Line Zone on section 1+20E, the underground exploration program is clearly justifiable.
2. A small portable drill should be set up on the 110 meter level, section 1+20E in order that a fan of drill holes be drilled to further investigate the high grade zones encountered within the granodiorite in hole D-10.
3 Based on the deep ore grade intersection on section 1+20E (235 m. vertical depth) it would appear that the Range Line Zone continues to be economic at depth. A diamond drill station should therefore be cut on the 210 m. level, ten to fifteen meters south of the shaft and a series of deep diamond drill holes be completed in order to intersect the Range Line Zone at depths of approximately six hundred (600) meters.
6
DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
The recently completed diamond core drill program on the Range Line Zone involved 1,739 meters of BQ sized core in eight (8) holes.
The program was designed to first, evaluate the northern zone, an isolated ore grade intersection north of the granodiorite/volcanic contact encountered in hole D-14 on section 2+25E, and second, to further investigate the Range Line Zone east of and including section 1+20E.
Holes 77-130 and 77-133 were drilled to test this isolated mineralized quartz-tourmaline zone intersected in hole D-14. Hole 77-130 intersected a 3.0 meter mineralized structure which yielded an assay of 3.2 gr/ton over a 1.0 meter core length. This zone was impressive looking and matched the description of the mineralized zone from hole D-14, only the correlation between the two holes showed a dip of approximately 45' to the south. Hole 77-133 was then drilled underneath both holes and showed a much steeper dip of geological contacts (70-80' to the south). The quartz-tourmaline structure was, however, not intersected. The Range Line Zone was intersected but yielded only weak gold values.
Holes 77-131, 77-132 and 77-134 were drilled to intersect the mineralized quartz-tourmaline structure encountered in hole 77-130 along strike both to the east and west. The mineralized structure was not intersected in any of the holes but anomaleous gold values were intersected north of the granodiorite contact in holes 77-131 and 77-132. The Range Line Zone was intersected in all three holes but again yielded only weak gold values.
7
Hole 77-135 was drilled on section 1+65E to test the Range Line Zone in the approximate area of the future 110 m. level drift. The zone was intersected on target (at a depth of 110 meters) and yielded an assay of 2.2 gr/ton over a core length of 3.0 meters. This intersection correlates very well with the ore grade intersections from holes UM-35 and UM-34.
In order to further investigate the location reliability of old "D" series diamond drill holes, hole 77-136 was drilled between two pre-existing "D" series holes; D-22 and D-23 on section 1+35E. Hole 77-136 was then found to correlate with D-22 but not with D-23 which must be plotted too far to the north. The Range Line Zone was intersected at a depth of approximately 160 meters and yielded gold values of 2.2 gr/ton over a core length of 2.0 meters. A mineralized quartz-tourmaline structure very similar to that from hole 77-130 (Northern Zone) on section 2+25E was also encountered at a depth of 260 meters and correlates very well with a high grade zone intersected in hole D-22. Extensive block faulting could possibly relate these two structures with the one intersected in hole 77-130 on section 2+25E.
Finally, hole 77-137 was drilled to check two high grade zones encountered within the granodiorite in hole D-10 on section 1+20E as well as to test the Range Line Zone at depth. Unfortunately, the two isolated high grade zones from hole D-10 were not intersected. The Range Line Zone, however, was intersected at a depth of 235 meters, was very impressive looking and yielded gold values of 4.13 gr/ton over a 4.0 meter core length which contained a 1.0 meter section assaying 12.31 gr/ton. This intersection was calculated to add approximately 10,000 tons of ore grade material to the previous ore reserves.
