Heather Rankin sang back‐up vocals on Carly Simon's album The Bedroom Tapes and has been featured on the recordings

such artists as The Chieftains, Johnny Reid and Will Ackerman.

Now focusing on a career as a solo artist, Heather has released new album A Fine Line, an evocative 11 song collection

produced by David Tyson (Co‐writer/producer of Alannah Myles, Black Velvet and Amanda Marshall, Dark Horse). The new

album includes a cover of Tears For Fears' 1985 hit, “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”, featuring hip hop artist Quake

Matthews. A Fine Line is an exploration of the balance between grief and joy, love and loss, and life and death. While the

sound is distinctively Heather's own, songs like “We Walk As One” conjure up imagery from the past she shared with her

The concept of LOCK UP was conceived in the city of Birmingham, UK in 1998 by Nicholas Barker (ex‐CRADLE OF FILTH, ex‐DIMMU BORGIR) a

Shane Embury (NAPALM DEATH). After they had met at the studio Shane demoed a bunch of ideas on an old 4‐track recorder for the next fewmonths, then the three piece at short notice entered Backstage Studios with a very young Andy Sneap and blasted out thirteen tracks in three

days. For the vocalist Nick suggested Peter Tägtgren of HYPOCRISY as they were good friends and they had always talked about doing a project

In its own way, this album is the most consistent ever to bereleased as “cosmic music”. ("Flash"/Germany, 1974) On“Cyborg” I used orchestral tapes, as I had previously done on“Irrlicht” [1972]. One reason was that I thought you couldperfectly combine electronic elements with an orchestral sound.It was also because I had almost no gear at the time, just theorgan, the twitter synth [VCS 3] and the Revox machine. But thistime I had really good tapes by the orchestra, and because ofthat everything sounded a little bit better than it did on “Irrlicht”.Once again, I talked to the music students at Colloquium Musicaand asked whether they had any more recordings for me. Theygave me a few tapes that they had made in the studio at BerlinUniversity that they used to review what they had played duringtheir rehearsals. For me, it wasn’t important if their performancewas perfect – I just wanted to have the sound. I then cut the tapeand scattered it in little portions on all four sides of the LP likeadding spice.

“Audentity” is intellectual music, more than just a soundtrack a concept – it is the monument of forward-thinking music. ("MSzene"/Germany, April 1983) In regards to this record, I hav

say one thing, “Audentity" is not, despite what many people ta concept album about Georg Trakl (expressionistic Austpoet, 1887-1914). Only “Sebastian im Traum", which is naafter a long poem by him, refers to Trakl. Trakl is howedefinitely one of my favourite authors. He has written incredbeautiful, albeit very gloomy, poetry but that goes well withmusic and my favourite key, minor. Never give in to laughhahaha... Literature – not only Trakl’s material – has alwbeen a very important source of inspiration for me. Sometimovies can inspire me too, but more so books because which is between the lines stimulates my imagination.

Apart from Rainer Bloss [keyboards] and Wolfgang Tie[cello], Michael Shrieve, the Santanadrummer also played“Audentity". I made the acquaintance of Michael in 1976 du

the Go project, which was supposed to become a supergrowith Stomu Yamash'ta, Steve Winwood and Al Di Meola. Micwas a part of that too. The two of us hit it off right from the sand the same goes for Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, who also aboard the Go gig in London [May 29, 1976]. But becawe had to practise endlessly with Go it almost drove me nDuring breaks, Michael, Phil and I jammed, or we went casino and played roulette.

Andrew Bird has always been highly respected and has held a captive audience with his story telling prowess, but it’s with his new album,

’Are You Serious', that he has made a breakthrough record. Coming April 1st via Loma Vista Recordings/ Universal Music Canada and

A Mineral Love marks Bibio's fourth LP release for Warp and with it we see the producer venturing out into some uncharted territory.
