Beste vrijwilliger, Het zomerseizoen 2011 is weer begonnen!

BELGIE Domaine provincial de Chevetogne, Chevetogne CBB04 08/07/2011 –22/07/2011 TEEN-ENVI 12 Volunteers Age limit: 15-17 Project Le Domaine provincial de Chevetogne is a big centre for environmental education and social tourism. Pupils from primary and secondary schools come there to participate in activities that focus on discovering the nature and rural way of life. During the summer, many kids and families make a one-day excursion to the Domain or stay there for holidays. The philosophy of the place could be summed up in one sentence: "when one learns to respect the biodiversity in the nature, one also learns to respect the human diversity". Workers from Le Domaine de Chevetogne hope to share their passion for the environment with international volunteers. Work Volunteers will assist in the construction of a shelter to observe the local birds: they will clean the surroundings, put together wooden parts in a special mortise and ten on way without a single nail and also build feeder for birds. Good news for all wood-lovers – the wood processing will be made by volunteers as well. ATTENTION: work might be sometimes long and difficult. Volunteers will spend the whole day outdoors.

Accommodation In a cottage with two dormitories, beds, kitchen and bathroom with hot shower. Food Breakfast will be provided in the cottage and lunch as an outside picnic. Volunteers can decide whether they prefer to prepare their evening meals in the cottage or to eat in the restaurant of the Domain. Volunteers must notify beforehand about specific diet – vegetarian or Muslim if any. Location Le Domaine de Chevetogne is located in deep countryside. By choosing this work camp, the volunteer decides to live in the nature. All around, there are fields, woods and small villages. Wild animals (deer, foxes or wild pigs) are very close. As the domain is also a tourist centre, there are plenty of opportunities for entertainment: outdoor swimming pool, football fields, minigolf, and tennis or basketball playgrounds… During the weekend, it will be possible to organise cultural visits and to travel to the biggest Belgian cities. The town of Ciney is 10 kilometres away from the Domain of Chevetogne. From there, it is very easy to reach bigger urban centres such as Namur (25 km), Brussels (80 km) or Liège (90 km). http://www.domainedechevetogne.be/ - check for nice pictures and general information.

Dachau CPD06 30.07. - 12.08.11 STUDY, RENO Volunteers 12 / 90 Age limit: 16-26 years This is not a normal work camp, it is instead an international youth movement with the theme: “National Socialism and Racism” The project The International Youth Meeting is a place for young people from all over the world to discuss issues concerning the past, the present and the future. Young people will look at the history of the concentration camp at Dachau, National Socialism and present forms of exclusion, racism and discrimination. The principles of exchanging ideas, experiencing different cultures, as well as Holocaust education are the core ideas of the International Youth Meeting. It is primarily organized by a team of volunteers. Many survivors of the National Socialist regime will talk about their personal experiences of persecution, whether in the concentration or labour camps or working in the resistance. Background In March 1933 one of the first Nazi concentration camps was established in the town of Dachau, near Munich. The Dachau concentration camp became a model for other concentration camps and also a place to train the Nazi SS. Over 200.000 people from different countries were imprisoned in Dachau between 1933 and 1945. Prisoners died from terror and the consequences of inhuman practices, disease, exhaustion and hunger. The Program To remember – to encounter – to understand will be our guiding slogan this two weeks. We will learn about the history of the concentration camp Dachau and other aspects of the German Fascism. Always we will ask: What did we learn about this? Where are racism and discrimination today? The program consists of different workshops, discussions with eye-witnesses and Holocaust survivors, guided tours through the Memorial Site, tours in Dachau and Munich, day trips. There is also time for personal conversation, sports, parties and the chance to experience the Modern Germany.

Accommodation Accommodation is at the Dachau Youth Guest House in rooms for four people. The participation fee includes: full board and lodging, together with the cost incurred by the program.
