Chief Complaint & HPI

A 53 year old female patient from Guimaraspresents with a chief complaint of “Mpa.postisoko kay nabudlayan ko mag usang sangpagkaon”.

The patient admits to never having brushed herteeth during her early years and is fond of eatingsweets and hard foods. This lack of oral hygieneand form of diet caused her extensive caries andperiodontitis.



Patient’s Work -Up

Medical history – no significant findings

Dental history – multiple extractions dueto caries & periodontal disease;

• Symmetrical face• Competent lips• Convex profile• Normal temporomandibular joint



Intra-Oral Examination

• No lesions on the soft tissues

• Generalized redness andswelling of the gingiva

• Heavy Calcular Deposits

• Root Exposure

• Parabolic maxillary arch

• U-shaped mandibular arch

• Normal palatal vault

Presence of caries• No restorations

• Mesially tilted tooth # 38

• Root fragments

• Mobile tooth

• Presence of Periodontal Pockets
