at school - that learning and having fun are mutually exclusive. Some be lieve, in a sense, that you have to suff er, otherwise you will not get the results

that you would like to achieve. They are reminded of what learning grammar and

vocabulary was like in the past. Even those experiences reinforce that learning

without fear of making mistakes, literally like having a discussion in a “caff é linguistico”.

And this is where the name of the Sprachcaff e institute, which is a play on words, comes

in. ’Sprach’ implies language and communication and ’caff é’ refers to

Professor Jürgen Beneke, PhD, teaches Applied Linguistics at the Uni versity of Hildesheim

(Germany). His research interests are languages for professional purposes, foreign language
