Mike is playing on his computer.
Mike plays on his computer.
Wat is het verschil?
De present continuous (is playing) gebruik je als iets tijdelijk is, of
als iets NU aan de gang is. In zinnen met de present continuous
staan vaak woorden als now, right now, at the moment, etc.
Je gebruikt de present simple (plays) als iets een gewoonte is,
regelmatig gebeurd of een feit is. In zinnen met de present simple
staan vaak woorden als usually, often, always, never, sometimes,
etc.

Mike is playing on his computer.
Mike plays on his computer.
Wat is het verschil?
In de eerste zin speelt Mike NU op zijn computer, het is nu aan de
gang.
In de tweede zin speelt Mike regelmatig op zijn computer, het is een
gewoonte van Mike.
Je zou beide zinnen kunnen uitbreiden:
Mike is playing on his computer right now/at the moment.
Mike always/never plays on his computer. (ook met never is het nog
een gewoonte)

in brackets.
1. He ____ (have) lunch at the moment. Please call back later.
2. We ____ (be + always) late in school on Mondays.
3. My sisters ____ (hate) to do her homework, I ____ (like) it.
4. Look! They ____ (play) football, perhaps we can join them.
5. I ____ (have) a dog and two cats. I ____ (feed) them now.
6. They ____ (like + not) to clean their rooms. Their mothers always
____ (tell) them they have to.
7. Could you speak more softly, please? I ____ (read) a book.
