Gothicare considered to be good fonts
Cen-tury Gothic is
a geometric sans-serif typeface
designed for Monotype Imaging in 1991. It has a simple elegant look. It is
extremely legible and therefore would be good to use in large pieces of text.
Century Gothic is similar to ITC Avant Garde in its pure geometry, and does
not possess the subtle variation in stroke width found in either Futura or Twenti-
eth Century. It has a clean, neat appearance that makes the reader
immediately understand the message. This is what makes
a good font.

Eras is designed through the collabora-tion of two French designers, Albert Boton and Albert Hollenstein. This is a sans serif font. It is a simple, elegant, clean font. This font has charm, distinc-tion, and a lively quality that’s rarely
seen in sans serif typefaces. Eras main-tains optically even stroke weights like other sans serifs, but it overcomes the sans serif tendency to blandness through the dynamic tension created by the design’s 2-degree slant – almost, but not quite,
italic. The design appears spontaneous, like a written script, creating interest and originality to the text making it less formal. It is an eye-catching typeface that will create a look as well as deliver a readable message.

This font caught my attention because of its clean, neat professional appearance. Even though it is a simple sans serif font it
has an original look. It is very legible making it easy to read, this is what makes
it a good font. It is symmetrical and evenly displayed making it pleasing to
look at.

The letters have different sizes making it look unprofessional. It has a sketchy appearance
giving the impression of something written in a hurry. The unsymmetrical appear-
ance makes it look amateur-ish. This font does not present
a harmonious appearance. Each letter has a fancy look
and therefore each one attracts attention. The reader
can get confused when looking at the sentence as a
whole since many of the letters are too fancy and
when they are put together they look puzzling.

This is s simple font however the appearance is so simplified that certain letters are illegible. This is what makes it a bad font. Taking the ‘c’ as an example it doesn’t have the appear-ance of an ordinary ‘c’. Certain parts of the letters are eliminated and changed just like the letter ‘a’ and ‘n’. Even though it is a symmetrical font it is unclear to read making it look unprofessional.

bad font
This font is confusing and illegible. The letters are strange; they seem to be made up of different parts of circles. For this reason the real shapes of the letters are hidden. This makes them very difficult to decipher. Some of the letters such as the ‘K’,’L’,’M’ and ‘W’ are unrecognizable. It is hard to tell if it is a pattern or written words.

Joven Grech
and Cyprian Cas-
sar, the names behind Tenishia,
are definately Malta’s best electronic dance
producers. Winners of ‘Best Newcomer Award 2005’ and
‘Best Live Performance 2005’ , Tenishia took
Malta’s clubbing scene by storm, they played
in all the island’s major clubs and
events, includ-ing MTV Sum-
merdance and
rocked
thou-
sands of clubbers with
their cutting edge DJ sets and live shows!
Joven Grech entered the local music scene
back in 1997 when he joined a
small com-munity
radio at the age of
15. He started practising his mixing techniques when a friend of
his started teaching him at a club, where soon he was spinning the wheels. Seeing a great potential-ity, the owner of the club moved him to a bigger club
that he owned (Reeds) and at that time was very frequented by clubbers. By the young age of
17 years he became the main resident Dj of the club, spinning for hundreds
every week, where he per-formed along side various
big names including, Mike Push, Solar
Stone, Rank-1, Johan
Gielen, Gayle San, Dj Misjah and Pete Bruelle . After six years, he moved his resi-dency to a club in Malta called, Tattingers for 1 year and started to play in
various big events. 2004 was Joven`s greatest turning point when he joined his friend Cyprian Cassar for music production under the project Tensihia.
Cyprian begun playing the piano at the age of 10. He was highly educated in the art of music and he is able to play several musical instruments. But when he begun to frequent clubs something made him leave the classical piano, and that was the sound from his big-gest inspirator, DJ Sasha. He says that Sasha made him change his love for piano symphony to progressive elec-tronic dance. His love for
pro-gressive
sounds grew bigger and bigger as he started to
experiment with sounds on his com-puter and it was then when he decided to
build his first studio. His biggest influences are Sasha, James Holden and Ozgur Can. He now shares his great
musical talent with Joven and together they produce great music.
They put their home country, Malta on the Dance Map! Their DJ Schedule in Malta is extremely busy. They
have enough local fans to put up their very own event, ‘Tenishia Live’. But the admiration for these
talented producers stretches far beyond Malta, as their productions are being played by to-
day’s DJ elite and travel the world through numerous speakers and head-phones. They have been re-quested from Mexico, Europe, Asian Coun
tries and Australia.
Tenishia have a bright future ahead with their ever grow-ing Traveling schedule which is getting their names head-lined with big events along side the world’s big-gest names.

Tenishia’s story started in summer 2004 when Joven Grech and Cyprian Cassar joined forces for music production. They entered the Maltese club scene officially on the 12th of March 2005, as Tenishia, with a Live PA which reached maximum limit of bookings around the Maltese islands within few weeks for the best local events including MTV Malta. TV, radio stations, inter-net, magazines and newspapers featured their interviews and information which quickly gained a more popular name for Malta’s new artists. Loved by the crowd, the duo won the “2005 Best Newcomer Award” just eight months after their debut and another award some months later as – Malta’s Best Live Performance 2005’. Playing from one club to another round the Maltese islands, Tenishia played along side various big names, one of which was Kirsty Hawkshaw who showed big interest in the duo. The result of this was a big hit! Kirsty Hawkshaw meets Tenishia – ‘Outsiders’, released on Armin van Buuren’s very own label, Armada Records, which at the time had already released one of their tunes called ‘Five’ . The feedback for the tune was impressive and fans increased from all over the world. Tenishia was now getting global attention. Tenishia surely has a lot to give, as the duo is now dealing with the top names in the field. More big tunes are constantly being produced name-ly, ‘Burning from the Inside’, ‘You’re So Cool’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’.
Armin Van Buuren: find out about the man who
was voted number one DJ in the world three times in a row. Discover how his love for music started and also
what made him the popular producer he is today. Take a look at the man behind
the talent who has inspired many other
DJ’s and produc-ers. like him-
self.
Tenishia: This issue also
features the well known Maltese
duo Tenishia. Find out about the talent behind
the hit singles ‘Burning from the Inside’, ‘You’re so
cool’, and ‘I will always Love you.’ Take a look at how
they started as individual DJS and ended up as the
best electronic dance producer in Malta.
Features of this month’s Issue
Armin Only
Armin Only is a Dutch all-night dance event featuring solo
performance by Armin van Buuren. The event consists of various genres of elec-
tronic dance music (but most predomi-nantly Trance Music), light, laser and firework shows and supporting acts of singers/vocalists.
On 12th November 2005 the first Armin Only per-formance took place. On 11 November 2006, Van Buuren performed for the second time. Armin Only took place in Ahoy Rotterdam, with an impressive 9 hour solo set.He performed live to over 11,000 fans, thet night.
19 April 2008 saw the 3rd edition of Armin Only, this time in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, Netherlands. The event was at-tended by 16,000 fans and (partly) broadcast live on Dutch National TV. Armin van Buuren’s promotion of his new album ‘Imagine’ has been a prominent concept with his 2008 Armin Only Tour and as such applying the 5 concepts of Imagination (Vision, Scent, Touch, Sound, Emotion) to his sets.
During the second half of 2008, Van Buuren took this show abroad, with visits to Australia, Romania, Poland, Belgium, and a special New Years Eve 2008 show at Together As One in Los Angeles, USA. This was the last Armin Only event. The next Armin Only event is in the works for 2010.
A state of trance.
Armin Van Buuren has his own radio show. In this weekly
two-hour show, entitled A State of Trance, he plays the latest popular trance music tracks.
This programme has over 30 million weekly listeners in more than 40 countries, which makes it the most
listened to radio show in the world. His show and the artists he features are popularized by publishing the artists
and track titles on his website. In 2004, The 250th (8 hour) an-niversary episode was celebrated in Club Asta in The Hague,
Netherlands, featuring Van Buuren, Jonas Steur, M.I.K.E., John Askew, Rank 1 and Menno de Jong.
On 17 May 2007, Van Buuren began broadcasting the first of a two part series of what would become his 300th episode of A State of
Trance. The 350th episode and the 7th year of the hit radio show ‘A State of Trance’ was celebrated in May 2008 with an eight hour live
broadcast from Antwerp in Belgium to over 40 radio stations internation-ally. Fans were invited to a free party with a line up that had been voted
for by the show’s listeners. The show completed its 400th episode in April 2009 and he commemorated it with a 72 hour set culminating in a set of
his own new music. After so many shows Armin says that he still enjoys recording A State Of Trance every bit as much as he ever has, although doing the show while on the road is a challenge.
