PORTAL HOTEL | Business accommodation Wrocław, Poland.

The task was to design amid-sized hotel with aminimum ofa four star standard in the center of the old town. As the site of the projectwas a small plot in the center of the city, it hadto be decided on the selection of additional functions that will be included in such a complex theme like a hotel design.

Therefore, it was given the business profile designing pos-sible to rent office spaces and a small spa and wellnes center.

Page 9: portfolio | maja ewa nowak

Idea | Function

The form of the hotel is very simplenot to compete with the university ar-chitecture and was designed as a re-sult of extraction of a shape of the plot.

The entrance zone was created bu sub-stracting the portal view axis and an in-terior patio. To make the form more in-teresting and visible from the riversidethe restaurant storey was protruded.

LA ALHAMBRA | InterpretationCenter Granada, Spain.

“Everything here appears calculated to inspire kind and happy feelings, for everything is delicate and beautiful. The very light falls tenderly from above, through the lan-tern of a dome tinted and wrought as if by fairy hands.”

Idea|Organization

The idea of the Center of Interpratation was in-spired by the structure of Alhambra walls and defense towers. The units of the designedproject are connected with the same rules.

Page 18: portfolio | maja ewa nowak

Relationship with the Alhambra | Entrance

All the units of the center were arranged in the entrancezone of tha Alhambra to take advantage of the possibil-ity to introduce the visitor in the story of the fortaleza roja. The are a lot of different paths to follow due to di-verse needs of customers, but the main direction is indi-cated by water - the most subtle element of the Alhabra.

Hexagonalpavilion|Structure

The Youth Art Center pavilion was created od the hexago-nal plan. The grid is repited in the structure and elevation.

The structure ismadeof prefabricatedpanelsofOSBandcel-luloseinsulation.andcoveredbyhexagonalcladdingOSBplates.

By adding new panels bigger or smaller pavilions can be con-structed. It allows to create diverse spaces of The YouthArt Center. Every pavilion is connected to the groundand to the elevated road by tie rods. Result of this com-bination the pavilion remains stable above ground level.

ARTWORKS|

If architecture had nothing to do with art, it would be astonishingly easy to build houses, but the architect’s task - his most difficult task - is always that of selecting.
