The Footprints Prayer Trees by Joyce Kilmer One night I had a dream. I dreamed

that I was walking along the beach

with the LORD.

In the beach, there were two (2) sets

of footprints – one belong to me and

the other to the LORD.

Then, later, after a long walk, I

noticed only one set of footprints.

“And I ask the LORD. Why? Why?

Why did you leave me when I am sad

and helpless?”

And the LORD replied “My son, My

son, I have never left you. There was

only one (1) set of footprints in the

sand, because it was then that I

CARRIED YOU!

I think that I shall never see

A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest

Against the earth’s sweet flowing

breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,

And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear

A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;

Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,

But only God can make a tree.
