    General information6

    Enter code

    – If a keypad appears after switching on with the command to enter thecode, the unit can be unlocked by entering the correct four-digit code

    number. The number of the possible attempts is shown in the bottomscreen line.

    – Press a digit from to on the digit block displayed on the screen.The digit is accepted in the entry line.

    – After a four-digit order has been entered, the group of digits will turngrey (inactive) and no further digits can be accepted in the entry line.

    – Press on the screen in order to delete the digits in the entry linefrom right to left and thereby correct your input, if necessary.

    – If the correct code number is displayed in the entry line, press .

    Code number

    The code number can only be called up “online” via the Škoda system, as this guar-antees even more effective anti-theft protection. Please contact your authorized

    Škoda Service Partner, if necessary.

    Incorrect code number

    If an incorrect code is confirmed after entry of the code, the procedure can berepeated twice. The number of possible attempts is shown in the bottom screenline.

    If the code number is entered incorrectly for the third time, the unit will be blocked

    Operation when driving

    The demands of today's road traffic require full concentration from all road users atall times.

    WARNING

    • Always concentrate fully on your driving. Inattention by the driver canlead to accidents and injuries.

    • Do not allow yourself to be distracted by trying to use the unit, concen-trate instead on the traffic situation.

    • Use the unit only if road, weather and traffic conditions permit and youwill not be distracted.

    • The various volume settings must be selected in such a way that audiblesignals from the outside, such as e.g. a Martins horn from police cars and firebrigade, can be heard at all times.

    NoteDepending on the country, some functions of the radio navigation system can nolonger be selected on the screen at certain speeds. This is not a malfunction, butcorresponds to the legal requirements of this particular country.

    “Pop-up window”

    If you press the function key on the screen, a so-called “pop-up window” willopen where all possible set-up options are displayed.

    Briefly press the desired set-up option. The pop-up window will disappear and thenewly selected set-up option is displayed in the function key.

    “Check box”

    Some functions can only be switched on or off.

    There is a so-called “check box” in front of a function which can only be switchedon or off. A tick in the check box indicates that the function is switched on, anempty check box, indicates that it is switched off.

    Briefly press the corresponding function key for switching on or off.

    Tone settings

    By pressing the button and pressing on the function key in theRADIO  mode, you can select the following parameters using the menu control button :

    •  - , ,and - Volume when switching

    on, volume of incoming traffic announcements, volume of navigation announce-ments and speed dependent volume adjustment;

    •  - Treble setting;•  - Midtone setting;

    •  - Bass setting;

    •  - Setting of the volume ratio between the left and right side;

    •  - Setting of the volume ratio between the front and the rear;

    – Press on the button , doing so always chooses thefrequency for the heard radio station which offers the best receptionat the present time.

    – When pressing on the button , the unit attempts to hold a radiostation emitting regionally long enough until the reception quality isso bad, that there is a risk of a program loss.

    – Briefly press the set button to terminate the manual frequency selec-tion and to display once again the function keys.

    Scan function

    – In order to start the automatic play in the current frequency range,press the function key and then the function key . All radiostations with strong reception are automatically played for approxi-mately five seconds according to the sequence in the station list.

    – Press on the function key to end the automatic play of thecurrently heard radio station.

    Displaying TMC traffic reports

    TMC traffic reports are used during route guidance, depending on theset-up for the automatic optimization of the route, to report possibletraffic problems.

    – Press the range selector key to display the current trafficreports in a list.

    – Press on the display of a traffic report to show it in a detailed display.– You can browse through all the traffic information received in the

    detailed display, in sequence by using the function keys.

    Traffic problems are illustrated in the detailed display and in the map by a corre-sponding symbol. The direction, in which the traffic problem is found in the map, isdisplayed in colour. A traffic problem which is located on the route (in direction of

    travel) is marked in red, a traffic problem in the opposite direction is marked in grey.

    Note• The unit has a continuous background of TMC traffic reports providing a TMCstation at the current location can be received. The station you are listening to doesnot have to be a TMC station.

    General information for CD operation

    Audio-CDs (CD-A) and MP3-CDs can be played in the internal drive.

    CD not legible

    If you insert a CD which cannot be read by the unit, a pop-up window is displayedwith a note. Press on the function key , the CD is driven to the initial position.

    If the CD is not taken out within 10 seconds, it is drawn in again for safety reasons.

    WARNING

    • The CD player is a 1st class laser product. There is a definite risk of injuryfrom invisible laser beams if it is opened.

    • The CD player contains no parts that have to be serviced or repaired.Please contact your specialist garage if a mechanical defect occurs or the CDplayer has to be repaired.

    Caution• Inserting a second CD while a CD is being ejected can destroy the CD drive inthe unit. Please note that the CD ejection lasts a few seconds after pressing theEject button  . During this time the lock in front of the CD case is open. It isessential that you wait until the CD has been fully ejected before you try to insert anew CD.

    Memory card empty or data not readable

    If a memory card is inserted, on which no audio data has been stored, it will not beswitched over into the memory card mode after the loading procedure.

    Requirements of the memory card

    • Memory cards measuring 32 mm x 24 mm x 2.1 mm or 1.4 mm can be insertedinto the memory card case.

    • SD (Secure Digital Memory Cards) and MMC (Multimedia Cards) memory cardswith a capacity up to 4 GB.

    • SDHC (Secure Digital High-Capacity Memory Cards) memory cards with acapacity up to 32 GB.

    • Due to the differing demands on quality of the card manufacturer, it is possiblethat some of the data on the memory cards cannot be played or their play isrestricted.

    – You can determine which types of destinations should be provided ornot by using the function keys ,and . These types of destinations will, however,be used for the route calculation if there is no other logical route to thedestination (e.g an island is to be used without using a ferry).

    Determining the parameters for the route calculation

    • Fast: It calculates the fastest route to your destination, even if a detour is neces-sary.

    • Short: Longer driving time in favour of a shorter route is acceptable. Pleasenote that the setting “Short route” during route guidance can sometimes lead tounexpected results.

    • Economical: The aim of the calculation is a balance between minimal drivingtime and driving distance.
