People differ and so does their physique: there are basketball giants, featherweights and heavyweights … Ideally,what everybody wants is an office chair to provide an equallevel of support and optimal seated comfort.

The concept of Neos therefore consistently follows theprinciple of “sitting without a driving licence”, which hasbeen a guiding principle at Wilkhahn for over 25 years:• with the simplest and most intuitive operation of all

adjustment functions, such as seat height, backrestheight, armrest position and adjustment to accommo-date the user’s weight

• with synchronous adjustment of the generous, resilientback shell ensuring conformity with individual bodytypes

• and with automatic promotion of frequent changes inposture to keep muscles, metabolism and circulationin good shape.

Two paddles and a conveniently located crank handlemake it child’s play for the user to adjust Neos whileremaining seated. All functions are integrated in a calm,pleasant and self-explanatory form for optimal seatedcomfort and design appeal. This goes to show that ergo-nomics is invariably a question of aesthetics too …

Although the backrest, the seatmechanism and the armrests areindividually adjustable, they forma harmonious whole. The coherentoverall impression is underlined bydetailed design and black through-dyed materials.

The seat and back upholstery,which is air-permeable and easilyexchangeable, creates clear formsand precise contours. The extremelycompact, specially positionedsynchro-adjustment mechanism isa star performer in weight divisionsfrom 40 – 120 kg.

Many occupational conditions areconnected with a decline in dailyexercise; particularly as an increas-ing amount of work is carried outin a sedentary position, often withstatic posture. The ergonomicconcept behind Neos thereforefocuses on health-promoting“dynamic sitting”.

Infinitely variable swivel chair, allowingintuitive operation, with synchro-adjustmentmechanism for maximum ergonomic benefit.When the user leans back, the backresttension increases according to the need foradditional support and the seat platformlowers at the front synchronously with thesequence of movement. Conference chairsand visitor’s chairs are based on the sameconstruction principle, but have a non-adjustable seat height and seat depth.

FrameFive-star base in glass fibre-reinforcedpolyamide, through-dyed in black-grey,optionally in die-cast aluminium, polished orbright chromium-plated. Twin wheel swivelcastors in glass fibre-reinforced polyamide,through-dyed in black-grey, with load-dependent braking (conforming to DIN EN12529). With additional grey soft lining inpolyurethane for hard floors (please specifywhen ordering). Visitor’s chairs feature glidesin black-grey polyamide (for soft floors) orin polyurethane (for hard floors).

Automatic synchro-adjustmentPressure spring mechanism with swing platesand sliding seat bearer provide a back-to-seatangle range from 90° – 117°. When the userleans back, the seat platform shifts from a 2°forward tilt in the forward seat position andthe backrest tilt lowers in the maximum backposition by up to 14°. A special pressurespring with a linear characteristic provides anadjustment range to cater for 40 – 120 kgusers. An integrated, conveniently locatedcrank handle allows infinitely variable adjust-ment. With exact adjustment to individualload characteristics, the body is supportedin complete balance in every sitting posture.The backrest tilt may also be locked in fourdifferent positions by flipping the paddle onthe left underside of the seat platform.

This is fitted with a safety device to preventaccidental release of the locking mechanism(unlocking only possible in combination withpressure applied to the backrest). The synchro-mechanism case is in die-castaluminium with a polypropylene coverthrough-dyed in black-grey; the swing platesare in steel, the seat bearer is in fibre rein-forced polyamide, through-dyed in black-grey.

SeatResilient, contoured seat shell, easilyexchangeable, in black-grey through-dyedpolypropylene with pelvic support and seat incovered, air-permeable one-piece mouldedpolyurethane foam. The seat has a waterfallfront to relieve pressure on thighs. To adjustseat depth (optional feature), lift the seatplatform at the front and pull it out to selectrequired depth in eleven positions rangingfrom 375 to 425 mm. This automaticallylowers the pelvic support to maintain theproper support angle in relation to thebackrest. This synchronous movementautomatically increases the seat depth bya maximum of 55 mm. The infinitely variableseat height is adjusted by squeezing thepaddle on the right underside of the seatplatform). The gas lift (conforming toDIN 4550) provides additional suppressionproperties.

BackrestDouble-shell polyamide backrest withintegral swing arms in polyamide with tactileouter shell in black-grey through-dyed,polypropylene, with optimum concavity inthe lumbar region. The material cross-sectionis tapered towards the top to allow supportin the pelvic and lumbar region whileincreasing resilience in the upper section.This permits important torsional movementsin the shoulder region. The inner shell

comprises covered, air-permeable one-piecemoulded polyurethane foam and may beadjusted 60 mm in height in seven positionsto ensure optimal support in the lumbarregion to conform to the widest variety ofdimensionally differing body proportions. Theuser can adjust the backrest while remainingseated by simply raising the cushion up-wards. When the uppermost adjustmentposition is exceeded, the backrest may bereturned back to the lowest position.

ArmrestsIntuitively adjustable 3D armrests in black-grey through-dyed, glass fibre-reinforcedpolyamide with resilient yet tactile armrestpad in polyurethane. Height adjustable by upto 100 mm in eleven positions controlled byan activator button located on the inside ofthe armrest. By applying gentle pressure, thearmrest pads are adjustable in depth by upto 50 mm in six positions and can be pivoted30° inwards or outwards in two positionsto adjust to individual body proportions.

StandardsThe Neos swivel chair has been developedto conform to Office Chair Standard DIN EN1335, the American standard ANSI / BIFMAX 5.1 and other international standards. Itmeets the requirements of category A ofthe Office Chair Standard DIN EN 1335.All materials and components are safe touse and coded in accordance with DIN ENISO 11469 (code according to DIN ENISO 1043-1), and, in the case of repair orreplacement, allow recycling of individualparts that is appropriate for the materialinvolved.
