Achtergrond: Ontstaan MBT-schoenen

• Ontwikkeld door de Zwitserse ingenieur Karl Müller in de

late jaren ’90.

• Nabootsen afrikaanse Masaï volk die blootsvoets stappen.

• Verdikte zool en afgerond in de anterior-posterior en

laterale richting.

Literatuurstudie

• Er worden veel wellnesseffecten toegeschreven aan de

MBT schoenen, doch is hiervoor ook enige klinische

evidentie aanwezig in de literatuur?

• Verschillende studies – resultaten tonen geen duidelijk

voordeel of positief effect aan.

• Vaak korte interventie

Resultaten

• Geen eenzijdige evidentie omtrent de indicatie voor het dragen van

MBT-schoenen.

o Mogelijks preventieve rol voor ulceraties

o Mogelijks positief effect op locomotorische symptomatologie.

o verhoogde spieractiviteit in kleinere spiergroepen in het onderbeen,

doch zonder duidelijke impact op het evenwicht of de fysieke

conditie.

• Conclusies: tegenstrijdig onduidelijk.

Verder onderzoek op indicatiestelling en de rol van MBT-

schoeisel in de preventie van evenwichtstoornissen,

artrose en perifere neuropathie ontbreekt tot op heden.

3.Studieprotocol:Het effect van MBT schoenen op het

evenwicht bij een oudere populatie.

3.1 Doel van de studie

Doel:

Invloed op statische en dynamische evenwicht

Effect op lokomotorische functie bij activiteit

= dragen van MBT-schoenen bij actieve 60 plussers

werkelijke therapeutische meerwaarde voor het evenwicht?

Hypothese het dragen van MBT-schoenen kan de seniele achteruitgang

van het evenwicht tegengaan of dmv sensorimotorische training

compenseren bij 60 plussers.

Inclusiecriteria

• 60 – 75 jaar.

• Min 5u beweging per dag (ADL).

• Min 10 m ver kunnen wandelen.

• Geen verblijf in RVT/WZC.

Exclusiecriteria

• Vertigo.

• Repititief vallen in VG.

• Syncopes in VG.

• Neurologisch deficit.

• Pijn OL in VG.

• Orthopedische problemen (prothese, amputatie, complexe fracturen)

Conclusie

Verwachte outcome:

• Verbetering statisch en dynamisch evenwicht maar ook

verbetering in uitvoering complexe (ADL) bewegingen.

• Extrapolatie naar verlagen valrisico?

• Firma’s claimen vaak vele gezondheidseffecten doch zonder

wetenschappelijke ondergrond hiervoor.
