About Our School

LMM is situated in the heart of the community in which the school director, Judit Kun, was born and raised. Her family are locals in every sense and are very much part of the lifeblood of the school Its namesake are the names of her own children!)  We are privileged to consider ourselves among the innovative pioneering schools in Hungary and this motivates us to be adventurous, innovative and creative in our mission to build the very best learning environment we possibly can with the resources and  support we have at our disposal.

Being a small school, we pride ourselves on our clear, open and proactive approach to communication. We offer many ways for our families to keep in touch and get involved with what we do in school.  As a parent you should never feel out of touch or unsure of what your child is up to, and if you ever have a problem or concern, we’ll always be happy to address it directly. Our Buda campus currently has two Primary classrooms, One Elementary classroom, 2 indoor gymnasiums, outdoor skiing area with lifts, in addition to approximately 25,000 sqm of outdoor wooded, play, exploration and playground area.

To explore is one of Montessori’s be human “tendencies”.

Our school is nestled in the heart of Hungary, surrounded by the richness of Hungarian culture and history, supported by the warmth, strength and friendliness of the Hungarian people.

“Vision, Imagination,

Delight, Respect!”

At LMM we admire the passionate curiosity of the early learner. The non-conformist approach of Montessori education helps us to appreciate and value diverse learning and to help nurture each child’s unique potential. Children start out in life with an insatiable appetite for discovery and we believe the primary aim of any school should be to support and nurture the ongoing free development of enquiring minds. Learning to learn, - resolving a stream of questions, obstacles, problems and challenges and sometimes getting it wrong - is at the heart

of the learning process and Montessori learning environments are like catalysts that enable and encourage it. The LMM school motto, ‘Vision, Imagination, Delight, Respect ’ reminds us, in an increasingly busy, noisy and turbulent popular culture, to focus on the natural, timeless fundamentals of early learning and becoming a productive and positive member of the community of humanity. These characteristics refer to the essential qualities that a learning environment needs if the leading edge of the learning process is to be kept active, sharp, and free to move. It reminds us that in the midst of powerful, absorbent minds we should as the role models and educators of tomorrow’s adults, to teach with care, and thoroughness, and be taught in equal measure.

What is  Montessori?

Every child possesses an inner force that drives him to grow and learn and that can be observed in his spontaneous activities. We respect his natural inquisitiveness, which makes learning an imperative, as much a basic need to the child as food, shelter, and love. We appreciate his relentless exploration through his senses and movements, which make his environment his natural school. It is our purpose to observe the child's natural interest and activities and provide an environment in which he can develop and learn. Dr. Maria Montessori believed that self-motivation is the only valid impulse for learning. Within the carefully structured order of the Montessori classroom, the child is free to choose his own projects throughout the day. Following his own inner direction, he discovers his own pattern of learning and finds satisfaction in work.

The Montessori movement is not a narrow method of teaching, but a broad philosophy of life that rests in faith in each child as a potential new beginning for humanity and the creator of the adult he will become.

Our Mission 'To assist children on their path of development,

encouraging, leading, and setting the example, to

help them become the best they can possibly be

through their own unique paths.'

What is  Montessori?

It is the child who takes the active role in the Montessori classroom, not the guide (teacher). The child plays the active role in his self-development rather than being trained by an adult. The children are encouraged to work out their own social problems and reach their own moral conclusions. Responsibility toward the group and the other children individually is emphasized. Adult authority acts as a background for free development. When the child is encouraged to develop understanding, compassion, and respect, he is able to cultivate his own self-discipline.

The Montessori movement is not a narrow method of teaching, but a broad philosophy of life that rests in faith in each child as a potential new beginning for humanity and the creator of the adult he will become.

Major Points of the Montessori Method

It is based on observations of the true nature of the child.

Its application is universal. The same results can be

achieved in any country and with any racial, cultural,

or economic group.

It reveals the small child as a lover of work, both of the

intellect and of the mastery of the body (especially the

hand). This work is spontaneously chosen and carried out

with profound joy.

Through his work, the child shows spontaneous discipline.

This discipline originates within him and is not imposed

from without. This discipline is real, in contrast to the

artificial discipline of reward and punishment common to

other methods.

It provides suitable activities based on the vital urges of

the child at each stage of development. Each stage is

mastered before the next is attained.

It offers the child the greatest possible choice of physical

and mental activity. In doing so, the child reaches the same

or higher scholastic levels compared with traditional

systems.

What is  Montessori?

The Montessori movement is not a narrow method of teaching, but a broad philosophy of life that rests in faith in each child as a potential new beginning for humanity and the creator of the adult he will become.

Each child works at his own pace. The quick are not held

back and the slow are not pressured. The child has much

opportunity to work in groups and to help other children

with work he has already mastered.

It enables the teacher to guide each child individually in

each subject area, according to his own unique needs.

It allows the child to grow in biological independence by

respecting his needs and removing undue adult influence.

It allows the child a large measure of liberty grounded in

respect for the rights of others. This liberty is not

permissive license but forms the basis of genuine

discipline.

It does away with competition as a prime motivation for

learning. The child competes with himself. It presents

endless opportunities for collaborative work and

reciprocal assistance--joyfully given and received.

The child works from his own free choice. This choice is

based on knowledge and is thus an authentic choice.

The Montessori method develops the child's whole

personality, not merely his intellectual faculties but also

his powers of deliberation, initiative, and independent

choice, with the associated emotional complements. By

living as a free member of an authentic social

community, the child learns the fundamental social

qualities that underlie good citizenship

Education as  an aid to life

should begin before conception, and should extend throughout a person’s entire lifetime. She saw the various stages of life as a series of rebirths or transformations as dramatic as those of a caterpillar becoming a chrysalis and them a butterfly or a tadpole becoming a frog. Dr. Montessori taught that education begins at conception and is carried out through interactions with the environment, physical, emotional, and psychological. She saw education as an active and spontaneous process driven from within by the individual human being who begins the process of self- development from the moment of conception. Each human being has a style, a rate, and a potential of development that, while unique and driven from within, follows an overall predictable pattern.

Each person acts from within to self-develop and self-educate but is only able to do so according to what the environment and the human guides provide. Exploratory engagement and interaction with the physical and human environment take place from conception and must be directed by the will of the newly developing individual human being. In other words, development is not something that happens to the infant and child. Development is not something that is done to the infant and child. Development and its extension, education, is something that the individual infant and child engage in actively from birth.

Over her lifetime of research on human development, Dr. Montessori became ever more convinced that education should be an aid to life

To fascilitate this creative activity she prepared the environment (classroom), providing the children with sets of didactic materials. Classrooms are equipped with a multitude of hands-on learning materials; these materials range from very simple to challenging, allowing the child to progress at a pace naturally suited to their developmental level. The variety of materials is like a treasure chest waiting to be discovered by each child because the child’s activities are very important to him, Montessorians call the activities “work” or “jobs.”

The basic idea that inspired Maria Montessori’s work was that a child is a body that grows, and a soul, which develops. In keeping with her principles, Dr. Montessori began by creating an environment in which children could have physical freedom. In her school, children would work solely for the job of creative activity.

There are 5 key

areas in a

Montessori

 Classroom

Because language is an intrical involvement to the process of thinking the child will need to be spoken to and listened to often. Vocabulary is enriched in a number of ways. Precise names are used for all of the objects. Vocabulary classification and matching excercises develop visual perception. Reading stories and role-playing encourages the child’s imagination. Children progress at their own pace as they learn to write their name, learn phonetic letter sounds and recognize the name of each 26 letters of the alphabet. The child is encouraged to communicate with others and express ideas and thoughts freely.

This area introduces the child to a variety of subjects. Botany, zoology, geography and care of the world. History, art and music are also included. The child will gradually learn to perceive him or herself as a part of something greater. Through the use of his hands, the child learns movement and coordination. Through the use of his body and senses, he learns to understand the world around him. Maria Montessori taught and believed that the key to successful education lies in “Freedom Within Structure.”

Sensorial excercises are directed toward the child for him to discover the world through the use of the five senses. Using specialized Montessori materials the child will learn to discriminate between shapes, sizes and textures of various objects. Montessori Sensorial work helps build a foundation for language works and fosters imagination.

Begining with concrete concepts such as association of tangible quantities of each number symbol and materials developed by Maria Montessori; spindle boxes, bead stair and other 1-10 counting activities, the child progresses at his own pace into more abstract thought. Concepts are built upon gradually as the child gains and reinforces his basic understanding of the quantities involved.

Practical Life

Mathematics

The child learns skills involving coordination and control of eye-hand movements. The child learns independence and gains confidence in doing things for him or herself. Pouring, scooping, cutting, sweeping, learning to dress oneself, care of the environment and obtaining grace and courtesy.

Judit was born and raised in Budapest. She started Lotti and Maxim back in 2013 when she had discovered Montessori for her own children. Since Montessori schools were not available in Hungary, she, like many moms around the world, thought about starting her own. She began with a daycare, named after both of her children, Lotti and Maxim in the Pest side of downtown Budapest. The school began to expand and grow. Soon the school had 2 Primary classrooms and one Toddler room. In 2016, the school was registered as a Kindergarten. Judit expanded from the original school in Pest, to a new, much larger campus in Buda in 2016, in order to serve more families. Judit’s dream and life goal are to be Hungary’s premier, authentic Montessori education provider, to the residents of Budapest, and the world.

We employ the very best Montessori- trained teachers we can find to lead the classroom teams. All of our lead teachers are AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) trained.

Our TeachersWe have built a small international team of

friendly, dedicated staff - all experienced

teachers, - who share a deep empathy and sense of

duty towards nurturing early learners.
