2020 LENTEN SCHEDULE
THE ANNUNCIATION OF THE LORD
According to the first chapter of Luke’s gospel, the angel
Gabriel came to tell Mary about God’s plan of salvation.
The angel announced that Mary was chosen to be the mother
of Jesus, the Son of God. Mary freely answered, :Here I am,
the servant of the Lord.” Despite her puzzlement over the
angel’s mysterious words, she trusted in God’s goodness.
At Easter we take joy in the willingness of Jesus to be our
Savior by his death and burial and rising. Today God be-
gins that work by becoming flesh in Mary's womb. This
mystery is expressed in the Angelus prayer, which some peo-
ple recite at the beginning, middle and end of each day.
Here are its final words:
Artists often show Mary in a garden when Gabriel appeared
to her. They want to remind us of the garden of Eden, where
Adam and Eve said “no” to God. Here, today, in a new gar-
den, Mary said, “yes.”
Lord, fill our hearts with your grace;
once, through the message of an an-
gel, you revealed to us the incarna-
tion of your Son; now, through his
suffering and death, lead us to the
glory of his resurrection.
Per directions of the Archdiocese of Washington,
the parish office is CLOSED to the Public effective
March 17, 2020.
You may still call or email during normal office
hours (9:00-5:00PM). If you have an appointment,
please call the office to discuss options.

LENTEN REMINDER
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE HAPPY REPOSE OF THE SOUL
OF JEFF LANE.
Eternal rest grant among them O Lord, and let per-
petual light shine upon them. May the souls of the
faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in
peace.
The Lenten season is traditionally a time of penance
throughout the Universal Church. It is also a season in
which prayer, the reception of the sacraments, charity and
almsgiving are emphasized. Fast (limit of one full meal
for all between the ages of 18 and 59) and abstinence (all
who have reached their 14th birthday are bound to abstain
totally from meat) are observed on Ash Wednesday and
Good Friday. All Fridays in Lent are days of abstinence
from meat. As our Easter Duty Obligation, Holy Com-
munion must be received during the Easter Season, as spec-
ified by Archdiocesan Regulations.
Effective March 17-27, 2020
Adoration and Confession 12-2pm and 7-9pm
*Due to the new hours above, the normal spiritual
direction on Fridays 3-6pm will be suspended until
further notice
*The church will remain open 7am-9pm daily for
private prayer/meditation. Please pray the Rosary
daily for an end to this Pandemic so we can all come
back together again at Mass! Copies of devotionals
and prayers are in the narthex for those who wish to
use them. This week's podcast will be on "How to be
Holy when Quarantined!"

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most
Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I
desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at
