rollsys® Fit systemHet voornaamste doel om een helm te dragen is om te voorkomen dat je gewond raakt. De pasvorm is uiterst belangrijk want die draagt enorm bij aan veiligheid en comfort. Aangezien Lazer altijd op zoek is naar innovaties, ontwikkelde onze R&D afdeling het meest geavanceerde pasvormsysteem voor optimaal gemak, comfort en pasvorm. Het Lazer Rollsys® systeem is geboren…

Wat is het, hoe werkt het?Vergeleken met reguliere pasvormsystemen is het Lazer Rollsys® system een volledig geintegreerd mechanisme dat het hoofd geheel omsluit. Door aan het verstelwiel te draaien, boven op de helm, zorgt het Rollsys® systeem voor een naadloze en gedoseerde aanpassing van de binnenmaat. Het binnenwerk van de helm wordt gelijkmatig en symetrisch aangedraaid zonder drukpunten op het hoofd.

Het is uniek dat het Rollsys® systeem versteld kan worden met 1 hand, zelfs tijdens het fietsen Door het retentiesysteem achterop de helm er uit te halen, kan de helm bij uitstek gebruikt worden door mensen met een paardenstaart.

magneto eyewear system (mes)Magneto is een revolutionaire bril-helmverbinding en biedt de drager verhoogd

comfort en bovengemiddelde pasvorm. Afgaand op de constatering dat

traditionele brillen in enkele gevallen irriterend kunnen zijn in termen van

pasvorm, druk op de zijkanten van het hoofd waar de brillenpootjes aansluiten

maar ook dat de pootjes verstrikt raken in het verstelsysteem van de helm, heeft

Lazer de pootjes eenvoudig weggelaten en vervangen door een even simpel als

doordacht magnetisch klemsysteem. Het bandje van de helm heeft twee rubber

hoesjes waar kleine metalen plaatjes in zitten, die aansluiten op de magneetjes in

de zijkanten van de bril.

Het resultaat is dat de bril mooi het gezicht omsluit maar ruimte laat voor

horizontale en verticale fijnaanpassing.

Het gebruik van de Magneto zit het Rollsys-retentie systeem van de helm niet in

de weg en de zijkant van het hoofd blijft vrij waardoor het koel blijft. Magneto is

verkrijgbaar met photochromische (meekleurende) glazen, in Melanin of Christal.

Ook als je geen helm op hebt kan je de bril prima dragen met de bijgeleverde

brillenpootjes die je eenvoudig kunt bevestigen.

Lazer introduceert Panorama-glazen met Optics by Carl Zeiss. Deze glazen vergroten het onvervormde zicht met 20%. Dit zorgt voor een beter zicht tot aan de brilranden.

Lazer Sport Photochromische glazen passen zich automatisch aan bij veranderende lichtomstandigheden waardoor de bril gedurende de hele dag ingezet kan worden. ‘I started using Lazer helmets last year and instantly liked them. The Rollsys fit system works brilliantly as it

allows you to easily tighten or loosen the helmet with one hand, which is great for adjusting running through

transition, or once on the bike. The Tardiz is also the most cooling TT helmet I have used, which is super important for

some of my key races this year like Kona, Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi. Add all this to the fact that after testing it recently in

DLA (Dual Layer Aerodynamics)

De Tardiz is de eerste tijdrit-/triathlonhelm met

meerdere opervlaktestructuren voor optimale stroomlijn.

De helm bestaat uit 2 delen: een glad en glanzend

oppervlak aan de voorzijde en een mat oppervlak met

poffertjespan-motief aan de achterzijde. De voorzijde

voorziet in de best mogelijke luchtstroom en de minste

weerstand daar waar de helm het eerst met de lucht in

aanraking komt. Luchtopeningen aan de voorzijde zorgen voor stroming langs het voorhoofd en

de zijkanten zodat het hoofd koel blijft. De opgewarmde lucht kan ontsnappen door de openingen

aan de achterzijde. Door het gewelfde oppervlak onstaat daar lagere druk waardoor de lucht van

de voorkant extra soepel over de voorzijde glijdt. Eenmaal op snelheid trekt de helm zich als het

ware zelf door de lucht heen!

De Tardiz is de meest uitgekiende aerodynamische tijdrithelm die momenteel beschikbaar is.

Aquavent met X-Static® perfopad

De Aquavent is een ventilatieopening aan

de bovenzijde van de helm. Met een bidon

kan de Aquavent-opening worden gevuld

met water om warmtestuwing tegen te gaan.

Met behulp van perforaties en kanaaltjes

in de padding wordt het water met de

luchtstromen verspreid over het hele hoofd.

Optimale lucht- en waterstroming zorgen voor

maximale koeling en dragen zo bij aan betere

fietsprestaties.

career and and I can really say nobody is more passionate about making

a high quality product with a real sense of style while keeping comfort and

safety the highest priority. In Belgium cycling is such a deeply part of the

culture and Lazer Helmets is synonymous with that culture. I hope to only wear

ventilatie onderzoekWearing a helmet on a sweltering summer day can be hot and uncomfortable for recreational

cyclists. For athletes, badly ventilated helmets may even temper top performances. Smartly

positioned ventilation ports and internal air channels help to combat this problem. Are current

ventilation ports and channels designed for optimal helmet ventilation? How can we improve

helmet ventilation? To answer these questions Lazer Sport has teamed up with researchers

from one of the most esteemed universities in Western Europe, the Katholieke Universiteit

Leuven (K.U.Leuven).

Lazer has always been at the forefront of design and innovation. First we successfully solved

the problem of excessive helmet weight. Then we created the ideal solution for adjusting

helmet fit. Now we focus on creating a solution that provides optimal helmet ventilation.

Well ventilated helmets are important since the head is an important area for heat loss. When

cycling, only about 20% to 25% of the produced energy is transferred into mechanical energy

1; this is the energy used to drive your legs. Therefore for 75% to 80% of the total produced

energy is transferred into heat. During climbing or sprinting, heat production is even higher.

This heat needs to be removed to keep core body temperature within its limits. When core

body temperature tends to increase, sweating will occur. Sweat allows the removing of heat

if sufficient ventilation is provided such that it can evaporate. 2,3,4 Insufficiently ventilated

helmets may cause heat stress and increased local sweat production5, as the head tries to

overcome a deficient evaporative cooling. A well ventilated helmet helps to keep the head

cool. The result? Longer and harder rides with less chance for overheating. In short, a well

ventilated helmet keeps your head in the game and your body at peak performance.

In collaboration with the division of Measure, Model and Manage Bioresponses (M3-BIORES)

of K.U.Leuven Lazer Sport is currently investigating how helmet ventilation can be improved.

How can we design the internal helmet structure such that airflow is not blocked between

head and helmet? How can we improve inlet systems for airflow at the front and outlet

systems for airflow at the rear?

The test installations allow quantifying local thermal responses of the head under a helmet

(e.g. skin temperature, air temperature and sweat production) at test persons in a wind tunnel

while controlling ambient air temperature. Additionally, a setup is available to monitoring local

ventilation efficiency in the volume between head and helmet using a manikin head in a wind

tunnel6.

Based on the outcomes of this collaboration, Lazer Sport has reviewed and redeveloped the

airflow systems of their products to maximize the ventilation and cooling.

In all honesty, helmets are a necessary evil, they can be hot, uncomfortable and annoying…

but you wear them in the hope that you will never need it. At Lazer we recognize that

wearing a helmet is not always enjoyable or practical, yet we encourage every rider to wear

a helmet whether you are a professional rider in a bunch sprint or a commuter on your

way to work. Simply put, when you do crash it will provide protection against impact and

potentially save your life.

Lazer helmets are made to reduce the possibility of severe head injury. Research has shown

that up to 70% of fatal cycling accidents are due to head injuries 1,2,3. So protecting your

head in a crash is more than important. More specifically, it was found that wearing a bicycle

helmet can prevent or reduce between 60% and 69% of fatal head injuries that are caused

by cycling accidents 4,5,6.

Lately there has been a heightened awareness of the frequency and effects of head injury in

cycling and in sports in general 7. While this is more of a problem in contact sports such as

football or hockey, cycling is not immune. Getting to know the signs and symptoms of minor

head injuries as well as the risks of ignoring them is beneficial for every rider.

While a head injury sounds very severe the more classic and widely understood term,

“concussion” strikes a little fear in everyone. A concussion can be the result from even a mild

force to the head. While the understanding of a concussion remains relatively unclear, much is

known about the short- and long-term effects of even mild concussion 8,9:

I. The likelihood of a second concussion is much higher after a first episode.

II. Post-concussion syndrome can consist of dizziness, difficulty concentrating, headaches,

nausea and vomiting, and may last from days to months.

III. Repeated concussions may result in memory loss and progressive brain deterioration.

So whatever reason you can find for not wearing a helmet, think about concussions and how

easily you can avoid them by wearing a helmet.
