When it comes to railway network, the only limit is your imagination.

Given a mandate to restructure the inefficient state-owned

railway network, Korea Rail Network Authority (KR) was

established to handle construction activities, and train

operations were transferred to the KORAIL.

    Imagine a better world where

    railway connects the two Koreas,

brings you to people with whom youve fallen out of touch,

and makes us all bind together!

It is no longer a dream but a reality in reach.

    Moving forward in hope,

KR will shape the future of Korea.

Thank you for your continued interest in the Korean railway!

Over the last decade and more the Korean railway has been a major drivingforce behind the nations economic growth and regional development. Once therailway industry was suffered from unprecedented market volatility, yet it isnow poised to take off another leap forward, with a view to taking advantages ofa paradigm shift as people put far greater value on the rail mode.

Railway is an ideal alternative to meet the future energy needs and environmentalchallenges. Therefore, the transport policies and investments of manydeveloped countries focus on promoting a rail-oriented network, whicheventually leads to a modal shift.

KR is striving to foster an era of railway renaissance that will become a mainstream in the21st century. In pursuit of enhancing more sustainable mobility, it hasencouraged the development of nationwide rail network since its inception in2004. In particular, KR has achieved the following milestones: opening of theworlds fifth high speed line, electrification of major trunk lines, andconstruction of inter-city rail link in the Seoul metropolitan area.

Besides playing a vital role in meeting the challenges of growing mobility andcompetitiveness, KR is equipped with capabilities of shifting Korea as alogistics hub, linking trans-continental railways such as TKR, TCR, and TSR,and taking the lead in building a global rail network. As demonstrated by itsRailways Make World a Better Place slogan, KR aims at becoming the leader inoffering rail engineering and project management expertise adding a newchapter to the railway history.

In this rapidly changing world, we have reengineered our strategies for the transition to asustainable growth, turning KR into a world leading company in the railwayengineering.Thank you!

Through complete management, we minimize the adverse impact of the railway construction on air, water, and soil

pollution, ecological systems, and living & social surroundings.

Green citizen committee and conflict management

To prevent and solve conflicts and complaints arising during the execution of construction projects, a green citizen

committee with representation from a wide cross-section of residents and NGOs meets at a regular interval, in

addition to public hearings, conflict review committee, and construction industry arbitration committee.

    Best earth-friendly rail construction practices

    - Holding public hearings & workshops to prevent environmental conflicts

    - Jointly conducting environment & ecological studies to minimize adverse impact

    - Monitoring & promoting environmental-friendly construction through post-evaluation

    - Introducing tunnel dust mitigation measures and sound barriers in residential areas

    Human-oriented Railway

Everyone must be happy in the railway space

Everyone in Korea has all the advantages of railway; this is the KRs dream.

We will pay all the attention to every detail and not overlook any trivial inconvenience so that

we can help those who hardly dare to use the public transportation to access to the railway

    system.

Increase the service facilities for the handicapped and seniors

We have increased a number of service facilities, such as elevators, toilets and ticket offices exclusively for seniors

    and handicapped.

Service facilities with comfort and convenience

A nursing room for mothers and children, a mini-library and a computer lounge for those who have a long waiting

    time and drinking water fountains.

Best fit to the rail system with urban landscapes

A grade-separated crossing enables the areas surrounding a station connected to each other. We also build roads

over or under the station to contribute to the revitalization of the city. The railway increases its roles as a medium

    of connection, not of disconnection.

    Expansion of passenger service facilities

    Elevators and escalators at platforms

    Guidance paths for the blind

Additional fluting roof installation in rainfalls

    Sound insulating wall installation
