    NATURA 2000 payments (agricultural and forest land):compensation for restrictions (obligations) resulting fromimplementation of nature protection directives

    Non-productive investments - non-remunerative investmentrelated to agri-environmental objectives, to enhance thepublic amenity value of Natura 2000 sites or other highnature value areas

    Agri and forest-environment payments for voluntary

    commitments, going beyond a baseline, aimed atenhancing biodiversity preserving high nature value farmingand forests

    Activities

    1. Situation and stakeholders analysisfor three pilotsites will provide background information for developmentcase studies.

    2. Workshopsfocusing on implementation of the EUenvironmental policies, with special regard toconservation and sound use of natural resources, willserve to transfer knowledge from the EU to the region.

    3. Elaboration and dissemination of trainingmaterials for trainerswith focus on the EU bestconservation and sustainable rural developmentpractices. The materials will be used for the training fortrainers.

    Activities

    4. Training for trainerson transferring the EU

    conservation and rural development know-how to theWestern Balkan countries. Local experts will be trained onthe identification of Natura 2000 sites sound managementof natural resources, and development of projects forIPARD.

    5. Study tourfor CSOs and stakeholders from pilot sitesto exemplify good practices on nature conservation andrural development in the region. The tour will create aplatform for development of a network and improvementcooperation within the civil society sector in the region.

    6. Case studies for pilot sitesin FYROM, MNE and SERfocusing on sustainable management of natural resourcesand biodiversity conservation. Case studies will be usedfor development of management plans for the pilot sitesin the future.
