1. Hoe wordt de publieke ruimte gebruikt of beleefd?

2. En hoe kunnen we dit gebruik/die beleving gebruiken om aan te zetten tot een constructie van plaats waarbij de gebruiker uitgenodigd wordt tot participatie aan de constructie?

We pogen gebruikers bewust te maken van de ruimte (mede) door ze te laten participeren aan de herinterpretatie van de ruimte, en dus een constructie van plaats. ‘Out of space’ wil zo mensen uitnodigen tot de constructie van plaatsbepaling via een actieve herinterpretatie van een ruimte

“Laten zien hoe wij ons verhouden tot de wereld en hoe we het ons omringende landschap in bezit nemen. De kunstmatigheid van het landschap vangen in een lens. Dat is kort samengevat wat Bas Princen (Zeeland, 1975) met zijn camera doet. Zijn aanpak levert indrukwekkende foto’s op. Van mensen die zich met allerlei vrijetijds gizmo’s de rafelranden van de stad toe-eigenen tot een gouden Amerikaanse kantoorkolos, die dankzij de erin spiegelende natuur eromheen voor je ogen lijkt op te lossen. Je zou kunnen zeggen dat Bas Princen het ongrijpbare weet te vangen”

AudioBus B61 is a mapping experiment that considers the audible landscape of the B61 bus route through neighborhood sounds in Brooklyn and Queens. Field recordings, readings, conversations, and performances expressive of the many soundscapes along this line of public transportation are welcome. Andrea Callard conceived of and initiated AudioBus B61 in collaboration with Fred Krughoff.

Het concept komt tegemoet aan vernoemde aandachtspunten (aandacht op omgeving).

Mapping as research tool

“Bio Mapping functions as a total inversion of the lie-detector, which supposes that the body tells the truth, while we lie with our spoken words. With Bio Mapping, people’s interpretation and public discussion of their own data becomes the true and meaningful record of their experience. Talking about their body data in this way, they are generating a new type of knowledge combining ‘objective’ biometric data and geographical position, with the ‘subjective story’ as a new kind of psychogeography” (Christian Nold).
