At Hillside the holidays are notthe only busy times.Te sales duringthe nal six weeks of the year are theculmination of a full year of activity to

produce the trees that customers willbe decorating.Te farm work begins in April,

said Stefani. Tats when we plantthe new crop, usually about 1,200trees. In May we spray them to takecare of pests and in early June webegin to prune them. Tey dont getto the Christmas-tree shape growingnaturally.Tey have to be shaped. Inearly fall, September and October, theStefanis begin preparing for the springplanting.
