Es el siglo XII en Navarra y el Camino a Santiago está en pleno apogeo. El nuevo abad de Roncesvalles destierra a Gartxot, el bardo local, para quedarse con la voz prodigiosa de su hijo Mikelot y convertirlo en monje cantor. Quiere que deje a un lado el idioma rústico que habla y cante en latín. Mikelot consigue escapar del convento y canta de nuevo junto a su padre. Sus cantos se convierten en un símbolo contra la opresión. La Iglesia no esta dispuesta a aceptar esa afrenta y envía a los temidos monjes guerreros a la caza del bardo. Así comienza la tragedía, así comienza la conquista.

In Navarra in the 12th century the way to Santiago is at its peak. Gartxot, a local bard, is sent into exile by the new Abbot of Roncesvalles, who wants to capture the prodigious voice of Gartxot's son Mikelot and turn him into a singing monk – he wants him to leave behind his provincial tongue and sing in Latin. Mikelot manages to escape from the monastery and sings once again beside his father. The songs become a symbol of the oppression, but the Church is unwilling to accept this affront and sends its fearful warrior monks to hunt for the bard. Thus the tragedy begins, and the conquest.

Año 2120 (20 años después de que el "cataclismo planetario"). Un grupo multirracial de jóvenes ecologistas se unen contra la Corporación para defender a Gaia (el planeta concebido como un organismo vivo). Son jóvenes, con una formación científica y técnica y los intereses altruistas, que ahora se encuentran fuera de la ley gracias a la omnipotente macro-empresa que controla los diversos diseños de la humanidad y la Tierra. Una parte de la raza humana vive en ciudades grandes y protegidos por la Corporación, mientras que la gran mayoría de la población vive en pequeñas reuniones: abandonado, fuera de suerte y con sujeción a Kane, dueño de la Corporación, los deseos codiciosos. Un patrón misterioso, Nagual, ofrece apoyo logístico a los Defensores de Gaia y les asigna diferentes misiones. Desde su cuartel general secreto, que se encuentra al pie del monte "Teide", los defensores de Gaia controlar los signos vitales constantes de un planeta enfermo.

A mysterious patron, Nagual, offers logistical support to the Gaia Defenders and assigns them different missions. From their secret general headquarters, located below Mount “Teide”, the Gaia Defenders control the constant vitals of a sick planet.

“El hombre de las mariposas” es un drama independiente cuyo eje central es la historia de Lucio, un ex militar ruso que vive exiliado en España, y su sobrina Natasha, una niña conflictiva de 12 años de la que debe hacerse cargo de forma involuntaria. Es la historia de dos seres desarraigados, educados en la violencia, real y social, que deben enfrentarse al reto de convivir y socorrerse, para lo cual se verán obligados a sacar lo poco que aún pueda quedar de bueno en su interior. La relación de estos dos personajes y el decurso de su historia tendrá mucho que ver con otros dos personajes: Jacob, el padrastro de la niña, un tipo de los bajos fondos relacionado con negocios ilegales, que tendrá un papel clave en el futuro de la niña; y Silvia, una médico que también esconde su pasado y que será el nexo de unión entre Lucio, la niña y la realidad que los rodea.

En el Hollywood de la música electrónica, músicos, Djs, gogos y promotores trabajan en una sofisticada maquinaria de ocio para satisfacer los deseos de diversión, sexo y libertad de la acelerada sociedad occidental. Cada una de las “nueve y media historias musicales” representa un cierto aspecto del todo, sea de la isla o de nuestro mundo. Pero nunca se pretende poder contarlo todo. Es más bien un viaje con paradas, casi como una colección de relatos breves. La protagonista es la isla, su inspiración sin embargo la música. Porque en Ibiza, el punto cardinal donde convergen todos los ejes es la música.

Im Hollywood der elektronischen Musik arbeiten Musiker, Djs, Promoter, Manager und Gogos in einer raffinierten Freizeitmaschinerie, um die Wunschvorstellungen von Spaß, Sex und Freiheit einer gestressten westlichen Gesellschaft zu befriedigen. Jede einzelne der „neuneinhalb Musikgeschichten“ steht für einen gewissen Aspekt des Ganzen, sei es nun die Insel oder unsere Welt, ohne jedoch den Anspruch von Vollständigkeit zu erheben. Es ist viel mehr eine Reise mit Haltestellen, fast einer kleinen Sammlung von Kurzgeschichten gleich, deren Hauptfigur Ibiza ist, deren Inspiration aber die Musik. Denn auf Ibiza bildet sie die Schnittstelle an der sich alle Achsen kreuzen.

Aventurero, chalán, escenógrafo, fotógrafo, cineasta, escritor, artesano y amante del pueblo gitano. Jacques Leonard (París 1909 - L'Escala, Girona 1995) se enamoró de Barcelona y allí se instaló. Durante quince años su legado permaneció almacenado en un trastero. Hoy, al abrir el archivo de Jacques, sus hijos Santiago y Álex reviven a este gran fotógrafo francés que buscó a los gitanos por todo el mundo. Pero más: descubren, de puño y letra de Jacques, los secretos de una vida azarosa y agitada que culminó al unirse a Rosario Amaya, una bella gitana barcelonesa. Descubren la verdadera identidad de un padre poco dado a hablar de sí mismo. La propia voz de Jacques y la de quienes lo conocieron recomponen un interesante retrato minuciosamente ilustrado por su fotografía.

Jacques Leonard was a multifaceted French filmmaker, writer and photographer who left a legacy: a photograph collection that covers his whole career. Leonard died leaving many unanswered questions about his life. His sons try to recompose their father's life's journal: this “crazy” French artist who landed in Barcelona in the early 50's and managed to enter and photograph the Gipsy community, hand in hand with his wife, gipsy Rosario Amaya.

Juan tiene cuarenta años, de los cuales la mayoría los ha dedicado a vivir en Cuba sin hacer absolutamente nada. Ese es su modo de vida, y está dispuesto a defenderlo a cualquier precio, acompañado de su socio y compinche, Lázaro, que es igual de vago pero el doble de tonto. El único vínculo emocional de Juan es con su hija, Camila, una joven y bella muchacha que no quiere saber nada de su padre porque lo único que hace es meterse en problemas. De pronto comienzan a suceder una serie de extraños acontecimientos: la gente se vuelve violenta y se atacan unos a otros. Al principio Juan está convencido que no es más que otra etapa de la Revolución. Los medios de comunicación oficiales se refieren a los ataques como incidentes aislados provocados por disidentes pagados por el gobierno de los Estados Unidos. Pero poco a poco se va dando cuenta de que estos atacantes no son seres humanos normales y matarlos es bastante difícil. No son vampiros, no están poseídos, pero definitivamente no son disidentes; una simple mordida contagia a las víctimas, y la única forma de vencerlos es destruirles el cerebro.

along with his pal Lazaro, as lazy as Juan but twice as dumb. Juan’s only emotional tie is his daughter, Camila, a beautiful young girl that doesn’t want anything to do with her father because the only thing he’s good at is getting into trouble. Suddenly some strange things start to happen, people are turning violent attacking one to the other. Juan was first convinced it’s just another stage of the Revolution. Official media refer to the attacks as isolated incidents provoked by Cuban dissidents paid by the US government. Little by little Juan and his friends start to realize that the attackers are not normal human beings and that killing them is quite a difficult task. They're not vampires, they're not possesed, but they're definitely not dissidents; a simple bite turns the victim into other violent killing machine and the only way to beat them is destroying their brains.

En los primeros años 90, Laia, una joven maestra catalana, se traslada a Katmandú a trabajar en una escuela local. Pronto descubrirá una pobreza extrema y un panorama educativo desolador que además deja fuera a los más necesitados. Tras contraer, a su pesar, un matrimonio de conveniencia para legalizar su situación, Laia se embarca en un ambicioso proyecto educativo en los barrios de chabolas de Katmandú. needy. She initially protests and later decides to get married out of convenience, so as to legalize her situation and take on an ambitious educational project in the slums of Kathmandu. She immediately realizes that she can't do it all by herself. She also discovers a beautiful gift she had never expected: to fall in love with the stranger she marries. She finds herself torn between her love life and her commitment to the children she helps. Laia and Sharmila, another young teacher who becomes her dearest friend, work side by side to launch a new project that will distance Laia from her partner beyond repair. It will, however, always unite her to Sharmila and small Kushila, in a personal journey into the depths of the Nepalese society and also to her most inner self.

El trono de Mandolan tiene una maldición. Esto es un gran problema para el Gran Visir Guliman que tiene la ambición de ser el próximo rey de Mandolan. Como su mago Abrash no es capaz de quitar esta maldición del trono, Guliman llama a Kika (Lilli) para que le ayude a liberar el trono. Pero la superbruja no se deja tomar el pelo: Kika percibe la conspiración. Con la ayuda del pequeño dragón Héctor y Musa un listo chico hindú, Kika supera todas las aventuras que le pasan con sobresaliente hasta que consigue liberar al auténtico rey de Mandolan para que pueda volver a la ciudad con su gente y que el pueblo se libere también del tirano Guliman.

Mandolan's throne has a curse. This is a big problem for the Great Visir Guliman that has the ambition of being the next king of Mandolan. Since his magician Abrash is not capable of removing this curse of the throne, Guliman writes Kika (Lilli) in order that it helps him to liberate the throne. But the superwitch doesn't trust them: Kika perceives the conspiracy. With the help of the small dragoon Héctor and Muse an Hindu boy, Kika overcomes all the adventures that happen with distinction until it manages to liberate the authentic king of Mandolan in order that it could return to the city with his people and liberate also the people from the tyrant Guliman and Abrash.

Tras haber sido uno de los cineastas de mayor éxito en Europa en los años sesenta, Vojtech Jasny (República checa, 1925), vive actualmente en un pequeño apartamento de Nueva York. En el caso de Jasny, la vida y el cine son dos conceptos inseparables. En LIFE AND FILM, mediante la visita a sus amigos que aún viven, contará en primera persona su propia historia y algunos episodios determinantes: la invasión nazi en Checoslovaquia y la invasión soviética, posterior exilio y su llegada a Nueva York años más tarde. En el cine conoció el éxito y trabajó y aprendió de los mejores cineastas, músicos y escritores a nivel internacional. Debido a su constante compromiso social y político, le obligaron a exiliarse. Además, sufrió intentos de asesinato por parte de la KGB, pero Vojtech Jasny siempre fue fiel a lo que él creía y sentía. “Yo nunca me he movido por el dinero, sino por la amistad y por lo que creo justo y verdadero”, dice Jasny, que aún sigue haciendo películas aunque muchos se hayan olvidado de él: “El cine es mi mensaje y lo haré hasta que me muera; cuando mi trabajo esté hecho llegará la hora”.

New York and through the visits to his old friends, will recount his own story, from the Nazi invasion in Czechoslovakia to the Soviet invasion, subsequent exile and his arrival to New York years later. In filmmaking he lived success and got to live and work with the most internationally important filmmakers, musicians and writers of the time. Even if his constant social and plitical compromise obligued him to exile and made him suffer three KGB attacks against his life, Vojtech always kept faithful to his believes, even if that took him to oblivion. “I never went for money, I always went for friends and for what I think is fair and truthful,”says Vojtech, who still, at his age, keeps making films: “film is my message and I will do it until I die, when my job is done my time to go will arrive.”

Unos piratas normandos asaltan el barco de Pedro Cabaledo, atracado en el muelle de su casa. Mediante el uso de la magia, su hijo Bieito Dubidoso, de nueve años, consigue que los guerreros huyan despavoridos. Jacobo es un distinguido reparador de pianos que lleva cuarenta años felizmente casado. Tan cómoda ha sido su vida que para reparar pianos sólo tuvo que soñar con ellos y a la mañana siguiente aparecían arreglados. Su holgada existencia sin embargo se ve alterada al no poder dormir, y los pianos por reparar se amontonan. Su estado mental empeora cuando un tipo barbudo y con bata tan pronto se le aparece como vuelve a desaparecer. Su mujer, Helena, no sólo niega la existencia del barbudo, sino que insiste en que debe estar alucinando. Jacobo descubrirá que tras aquella vida placentera ha habido otra realidad oculta, y que ahora, en su vejez, se ha hecho visible.

An esteemed piano tuner and repairer, Jacobo leads an apparently happy life with his wife, Helena. His serene existence is thrown into a state of confusion when insomnia creeps in, and pianos that previously repaired miraculously overnight remain unfixed. Jacobo plunges into paranoia and madness, hearing noises during the night and having ephemeral visions of a stranger roaming the house in a night gown. Helena reassuringly denies anything out of the ordinary, and suspiciously insists he is hallucinating. Is the life we think safe and secure true, or is there a second reality lurking?

Accordeur de piano réputé, Jacobo mène une vie heureuse avec sa femme Helena. Toutes les nuits il dort tranquillement, et retrouve au petit matin les pianos miraculeusement accordés. Sa vie sereine sombre dans la confusion lorsqu'il devient insomniaque et que les pianos ne se réparent plus d’eux-mêmes. Lors de ses veillées nocturnes Jacobo entend des bruits dans la maison et surprend un inconnu errant dans son salon en robe de chambre. Helena le rassure, soutenant qu'il hallucine. Eva is an ambitious young judge who has focused on a successful career to the detriment of her social life. Eva is dedicated to fighting corruption, but cracks start to appear in her well-ordered life when she takes on a new case investigating a murdered Eastern European stripper. Rocco, a tall dark and handsome gigolo is the main suspect in a case that will push Eva to question everything she believes in. 1910, en Arga, un pequeño pueblo de Galicia, una terrible maldición cae sobre la malvada marquesa de Mariño y su hijo, convirtiéndole en hombre lobo en su décimo cumpleaños. must be carried out exactly one hundred years after the curse first came into effect. The sacrifice will put an end to the reign of the werewolf that has been terrorizing the villagers ever since. However, Mariño, with the help of an old friend from the village, Calisto, will manage to escape. As the ceremony hasn’t been performed on the exact date, a second curse, much worse and dangerous than the first, will fall on the village… All the villagers will transform into raging hungry werewolves! From then on, our guys together with Mario, Tomas’cheeky editor, and Rosa, Tomas' grandmother, will be forced to spend the longest and most terrifying night of their lives trying to escape devicing. But the clumpsy amount of schemes they will come across with to get rid of the hell of beasts that Arga is now hosting guarantees that nobody will lose their sense of humour.

En 1993 se convocaron las últimas oposiciones al cuerpo de fareros. Los pocos que quedan en activo, tuvieron que elegir entre un oficio condenado a desaparecer o abandonar los faros y trabajar en las oficinas de los puertos. Un acercamiento a una profesión en extinción. Una farera que se jubila. Un enamorado de su profesión obligado a vivir lejos de su faro. Un representante de la última generación de torreros. Un pintor. Un historiador... Todos ellos, ligados a un patrimonio en peligro de desaparición.

In 1993 the last entrance examinations for lighthouse keepers were held. The few left in the industry had to choose between a profession condemned to dying out or leave the lighthouses to find work in the offices in the ports. A closer look at a profession under the threat of extinction – a female lighthouse keeper that is retiring, someone that loves their work and is forced to live a long way from their lighthouse, a representative of the last generation of lighthouse keepers, a painter, an historian... All tied to this heritage that is in danger of vanishing.
