What is ‘explaain’?

A new card based app, presenting information and journalism in a unique and creative way.

Taking the key elements of a story and presenting them in allowing the user to structure their own

narrative.

The user can swipe through different elements of the story, focusing on the information that

interests them.

Workflow of the journalist

• The basis for the explaain app working effectively would require a dedicated team of

journalists creating card content.

• By building up a database of information on these cards, stories will be easier to link

together.

• The more cards that are created, the easier it will be for the journalists to create and curate

content.

Sponsored Content

• To work effectively as a business model, explaain needs to be open to sponsored content.

• Clearly labeled pieces of sponsored content from external sources used to both advertise

and promote the app.

• As the app would be using visual content to divulge stories, maps and graphs from

sponsored sources could be used for the app.

Native Advertising

• A new form of advertising used increasingly by a number of different media platforms.

• This kind of advertising is unique in that it adopts the form of the platform it’s being used

on.

• In-Feed ads would appear in the same format as explaain news stories, but would be formulated

brands for a different outlet.
