DE VIER KUNSTSCHOLEN

Bij Kumulus kun je lessen volgen bij vier kunstscholen:

• Muziekschool (Algemeen/klassiek en

Pop, rock & jazz)

• Beeldende kunsten• Dans• Theaterschool

Naast het volgen van lessen kun je ook meedoen aan alle extra activiteiten die we organiseren, zoals samenspelen, exposeren, dans- en toneeluitvoeringen, excursies, lezingen en nog veel meer.

Dit alles binnen onze eigen muren maar ook daarbuiten. We zijn bijvoorbeeld actief tijdens het Parcours, de Nederlandse Dansdagen, Festival BRUIS, Festival jong!, Musica Sacra en vele andere gelegenheden.

Twee keer per jaar is er een open dag en zijn er open lessen. Zo leer je ons nog beter kennen.En ben je niet helemaal zeker van een vak, volg dan een gratis proefles, dan maak je gegarandeerd de juiste keuze!

Onze lessen worden gegeven door professionals die allemaal een kunstvakopleiding hebben gedaan.Zij geven met veel plezier hun vakkennis aan jou door en stimuleren je om mooie dingen te maken, te laten zien en te laten horen.

MAAR KUMULUS IS MEER!

KALEIDOSCOOP Kaleidoscoop is de naam van de afdeling cultuureducatie van Kumulus. Kaleidoscoop werkt voor en met verschillende partners in het basis- en voortgezet onderwijs. Kaleidoscoop treedt op als adviseur (voor scholen), intermediair (voor kunstaanbieders) en organisator (samen met partners).www.kaleidscoop.net

TOON JE TALENTVia het meerjaren basisschoolproject Toon je talent kunnen kinderen uit groep 1 t/m 8 kennismaken met kunst en cultuur.

GET LEKKERSVoor de allerjongsten begint het kunstavontuur met Get lekkers. Dit project is speciaal voor peuters en kleuters ontwikkeld en laat de kleintjes spelenderwijs kennismaken met muziek, dans, toneel en beeldende kunst.

CULTUURBOOSTIn groep 4/5 gaat het kennismaken gewoon door. Via het project ‘Cultuurboost’ kunnen leerlingen ontdekken welk kunstvak het beste bij ze past. Aan het einde van het schooljaar tonen de kinderen hun talent aan ouders en leerkrachten.

KUNSTEXPRESSVoor het opsporen van nog meer talent is het project KunstExpress in het leven geroepen. Hier kunnen kinderen (9 t/m 13 jaar), bij wie het minder voor de hand ligt dat ze met kunst en cultuur in aanraking komen, samen met een ‘maatje’ (kunstvakstudent/begeleider) werken aan projecten waarin ze hun cultureel talent verder kunnen ontwikkelen. www.kunstexpress.nl/maastricht

BOOST YOUR TALENT Voor jongeren organiseren we Boost your talent. Dit programma is samen met het Maastrichtse poppodium de Muziekgieterij ontwikkeld. Bij Boost your talent kunnen workshops gevolgd worden om zo het talent een ‘boost’ te geven. Het is bedoeld voor jongeren tot 25 jaar die niet bij Kumulus komen of zelfs de Muziekgieterij een brug te ver vinden. De korte workshops zijn heel vraaggericht; voor, door en met jongeren. Daarnaast zijn er regelmatig hiphopavonden en jamsessies. www.boostyourtalent.nl

TALENTENOPLEIDINGENVia de Talentenopleidingen van Kumulus hebben al heel wat jongeren stappen gezet richting de professionele kunstvakopleidingen. Ze worden via een op maat gemaakt lesprogramma zeer intensief begeleid; theorie, praktijk, uitvoeren voor publiek en repertoire en/of portfolio opbouwen. Zo krijgen ze bij Kumulus genoeg bagage mee op weg naar auditie of proefspel.

KUNSTACTIEF MAASTRICHTKunstActief Maastricht helpt amateurkunstbeoefenaars op weg. Het is een platform voor amateurkunsten in Maastricht en een loket voor facilitaire zaken die nodig zijn om amateurkunstenaars een podium te geven. Aanbod: korte cursussen, trainingen en workshops met de volgende onderwerpen: Column schrijven, Poëzie schrijven, Maak je eigen website, Reisverhalen schrijven, Journalistiek en Levensverhalen schrijven.

IN WIJKEN EN BUURTEN

KUNSTKETELVia het project De Kunstketel trekt Kumulus/Kaleidoscoop er op uit en confronteert bewoners, jong en oud, met kunst in wijken waar dat minder voor de hand ligt. Daar waar creativiteit sluimert, weten wij het te ontdekken.

COMMUNITY ART Community art is een trendy begrip voor kunstprojecten voor en door bewoners uit buurten en wijken. Samen met welzijnsorganisatie Trajekt ondersteunt Kumulus zowel De Kunstketel als Community Art.

EXPATS EN STUDENTENMaastricht kent een rijke internationale community. Ook bij Kumulus is er inmiddels een ware smeltkroes van studenten en expats uit bijvoorbeeld Duitsland, België, Frankrijk, Slovenië, Spanje, Griekenland, Bulgarije, Roemenië, Rusland, Japan, China, Iran, Syrië en de Verenigde Staten. Ons aanbod richten we ook op deze doelgroep door lessen in het Engels aan te bieden. De cursussen Painting & Drawing bij Beeldende kunsten is daar een goed voorbeeld van.

VERHUURSERVICETheater Kumulus, de Henri Hermans Concertzaal, Foyer Muziekschool en Café West (Herbenusstraat), maar ook onze ateliers en lesruimtes zijn te huur. Ideaal voor presentaties, feesten, repetities of wanneer je eens in alle rust en met de juiste faciliteiten wilt werken. Technisch en horecapersoneel is aanwezig om alles soepel te laten verlopen. Qua prijs wordt er onderscheid gemaakt tussen commerciële en culturele evenementen.

BEWONERS EN PARTNERSKumulus heeft een aantal vaste bewoners zoals FabLab Maastricht, Jazz Maastricht, de Mastreechter Staar, de Wiecker Fanfare, het Seniorenorkest, de Vrije Academie, Volksuniversiteit, App Art Events, Studium Generale, Studenten dansvereniging Let’s dance in huis. Dit creëert nieuwe kansen om samen projecten te organiseren. Ook met partners zoals Theater a/h Vrijthof, Bonnefantenmuseum, Prinses Christina Concours, philharmonie zuidnederland, Conservatorium, Academie voor Beeldende kunsten en de Toneelacademie werkt Kumulus regelmatig samen.

THE FOUR SCHOOLS FOR THE ARTS

At Kumulus you can take courses at four schools for the arts:

• Music (general/classical training

and pop, rock & jazz)

• Visual Arts• Dance• Drama

In addition to classes and lessons, Kumulus also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, such as ensemble playing, exhibitions, dance and theatre productions, excursions, lectures and much more.

These activities are organised not only on our premises, but also within the framework of renowned festivals and events such as the Parcours, the Dutch Dance Days, Festival BRUIS, Festival jong! and Musica Sacra.

We hold open days with demonstration lessons twice a year. This way you can easily learn more about what we offer. If you’re having difficulty choosing a course or musical instrument, you are more than welcome to sign up for a free trial lesson to help you make a well-informed choice.

Our lessons and classes are all taught by professionals with a degree from a school for the arts.They are passionate about sharing everything they know with you and stimulating you to create beautiful things and to share them with others.

KUMULUS IS MORE!

KALEIDOSCOOP Kaleidoscoop (Kaleidoscope) is the name of Kumulus’ cultural education programme. Kaleidoscoop works for and with various partners in primary and secondary education, acting as an adviser (for schools), intermediary (for enterprises in the arts) and organiser (in collaboration with partners). www.kaleidscoop.net

TOON JE TALENTThe multi-year project for primary schools, Toon je talent (Show your talent), introduces children of primary school age (5-12) to art and culture.

GET LEKKERSThe little ones are introduced to the wonderful adventure that is art with Get lekkers. This project was specifically designed to playfully introduce toddlers and pre-schoolers to music, dance, drama and the visual arts.

CULTUURBOOSTOnce the children enter form 4/5, their introduction to the arts is continued. Cultuurboost was designed to help children discover which arts discipline suits them best. At the end of the school year the children demonstrate their newfound talents to their parents and teachers.

KUNSTEXPRESS Art Express (Kunstexpress) was developed to scout for even more talent. In this project, children aged 9-13 from backgrounds in which they were less likely to come into contact with art and culture can work on projects to help them develop their cultural talents together with a ‘buddy’ (a counsellor and/or student from a school for the arts). www.kunstexpress.nl/maastricht

BOOST YOUR TALENT For young adults there is the Boost your talent programme, which is presented jointly with Maastricht pop music venue de Muziekgieterij. Boost your talent features a number of workshops to ‘boost’ talent and is intended for young adults under the age of 25 who don’t visit Kumulus, and for whom even de Muziekgieterij is a bridge too far. These brief workshops are highly demand-oriented and organised by, for and in collaboration with young adults. In addition to workshops, hip hop events and jam sessions are regularly organised. www.boostyourtalent.nl

TALENT COURSESThe Kumulus Talent Courses have already put many young people on the road to professional arts education. Participants receive intensive guidance through a personalised programme of lessons in theory, practice, performing in front of an audience and repertoire or portfolio building, to confidently prepare them for the auditions and try-outs ahead.

KUNSTACTIEF MAASTRICHTDeveloping talent does not stop at introduction and lessons. Putting your artistic talent into practice adds another dimension to its intrinsic value. To do is to participate, and to participate is to become part of such initiatives as the rich concert band and fanfare orchestra tradition of Maastricht and the surrounding region or the flourishing visual arts scene. There are also many theatre associations where you can shine on stage, or dance groups that practice an astounding variety of dance forms. KunstActief Maastricht helps amateurs in all disciplines further their talent. It is a platform for the amateur arts in Maastricht and offers a secretariat to facilitate various aspects that are indispensable to providing amateurs with a venue for showcasing their talents. Courses and activities: short courses, training sessions and workshops built around the following themes: writing a column, writing poetry, creating your own website, writing travel accounts, journalism and autobiographies. IN DISTRICTS AND NEIGHBOURHOODS

KUNSTKETELKumulus/Kaleidoscoop visits districts and neighbourhoods where art is an underexposed element through De Kunstketel project to bring art to residents of all ages. The aim is to seek out creativity where it lies dormant.

COMMUNITY ART Community Art is a trendy concept for arts projects in various neighbourhoods and districts. In collaboration with the Trajekt welfare organisation, Kumulus supports both De Kunstketel and Community Art.

EXPATS AND STUDENTSThanks to Maastricht’s rich international community, Kumulus has also been transformed into a melting pot of students and expatriates from Germany, Belgium, France, Slovenia, Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Japan, China, Iran, Syria and the United States. Our curriculum also caters to this audience with several courses in English, as illustrated by the Painting & Drawing courses offered by our Visual Arts Department.

HIRE SERVICETheater Kumulus, the Henri Hermans Concert Hall, the Music School Lobby and Café West (Herbenusstraat), as well as our studios and classrooms, are available for hire. They are ideal venues for presentations, festivities, rehearsals or for a place to work in utmost concentration, with all the facilities you need at your disposal. Technical and catering staff is present to ensure all your needs are met. Prices depend on the nature of the event (cultural or commercial).

RESIDENTS AND PARTNERSPermanent residents at Kumulus include FabLab Maastricht, Jazz Maastricht, de Mastreechter Staar men’s chorus, the Wiecker Fanfare Orchestra, the Seniors’ Orchestra, the Free Academy, Maastricht community college, App Art Events, Studium Generale and student dance association Let’s dance. This creates a myriad of opportunities for the organisation of co-productions. Kumulus also collaborates with such partners as Theater a/h Vrijthof, the Bonnefanten Museum, the Princess Christina Competition, the South Netherlands Philharmonic, the Maastricht Conservatory of Music, the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design and the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts.
