A Thank you from the Office of Concern Dear Father Joe, On behalf of the volunteers at the Office of Concern Food Pantry at St. Cecilia, we thank you for donating a total of 292 bags of groceries to us from January to June 2020. This is a remarkable achievement! It greatly helps the needy families we serve. There are not enough words to express our gratitude for your parish donations. Together with our dedicated volunteer staff we distribute food and other basic necessities to the “invisible poor” in Bergen County: you help to make it possible for us to make a difference, one life at a time. We volunteer our time here because we see first-hand the stress that continues to impact our clients including the working poor, retired seniors and those struggling to feed babies and small children, and we give to all regardless of religion, race or culture. Your continuing support makes it possible for us to provide food and other basic necessities to over 1,000 families registered to receive food each week. Together we are making a difference in many lives. Please acknowledge our gratitude to your parishioners. Sincerely, Donald E. Wuertz Director

Dear Friends, Greetings to you all as we begin the month of August! Among the very sad realities for me during the Covid quarantine was not being to celebrate the Triduum; those very special and solemn three days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. Those most precious and holy days would have been my first with you and Fr. Danny. Let’s hope, pray, and assume that we will be fully operational for Triduum next year. While those three days of Triduum were taken away from me God gave me another awesome Triduum of sorts. This past Thursday, Friday and Saturday were amazing days for the parish and myself. On Thursday evening we celebrated our parish first Holy Communions, on Friday evening the Confirmation of youths and on Saturday evening our first official visit of Bishop Michael Sapporito as the new Bergen County auxiliary bishop. The Communion and Confirmation masses and reception after the Bishop’s mass were celebrated under tents that the parish rented for the events. We did our best to make the events as solemn and sacred as possible. We used the altar in our rectory/soon to be adoration chapel, we used an electric piano for music and there was a great sense of beauty and liturgical elegance to the celebrations. One of the first communicants, Janseen, said the host tasted like regular bread at first but later on warmed my soul! Due to the covid restrictions and long quarantine Cardinal Tobin delegated pastors to confirm their youths in their own parishes rather than have them wait for local bishops to put the confirmation on their schedules. I was deeply touched and moved by being the confirmation celebrant for our young people and hope they felt the strength of the Spirit as much as I did. And to top it all off we had the lovely mass with Bishop Sapporito. Friends, we are so proud and blessed to have him as our local bishop. For the first time in many decades each County will have their own bishop who is not a pastor of a local parish church. This will allow the bishop to truly be a shepherd for the entire county beyond rare and occasional visits like confirmations and other major events. Many thanks to our regular parish pastoral team and the many hours involved in celebrating these past three days!!! Always a pleasure to share ministry with you daily. Many thanks to all of our Catechists for they witness of love, service and faith in bringing our young people to the sacraments. And many thanks to a mountain of volunteers for their help and volunteering with a smilie in the summer heat. They took temperatures of the attendees, set up cooling stations, moved tables, altars and chairs, set up lights and did so much to make our parish come alive and feel like “normal” again. What a blessed Triduum indeed it was!!!!! Thank you, God! Peace, blessings and fraternal regards, Rev. Joseph A. D'Amico

¡Gracias Dios! Paz, bendiciones y saludos fraternos, Rev. Joseph A. D'Amico
