Chapel bags SPRING/SUMMER 2014 is all about relaxed looks, neutral tones and genuine leather. Our bags are all made from local sources, hand-stitched in our
factory in Woodstock, Cape Town.

Our latest bag, the Daily, is made from genuine leather, with a secret back pocket for a 13” Macbook and two front pockets for extra bits. It has a drawstring pull at
the top and a flap on top for extra protection as well as padded straps for
extra comfort while travelling.

The Dufflebag is Chapel’s latest offering for lightweight travel. The perfect companion for an overnighter, made from denim/black canvas and finished with two canvas and leather handles.

Our old favourite, the Rider, is available in a variety of colours this season. A traditional canvas backpack finished off with adjustable leather straps, a front pocket and buckled front straps. Fits a 15” Macbook, it makes the perfect cycling companion.

Chapel began when we started riding bikes around Cape Town and couldn’t find a backpack that we liked and was made locally. So we mocked it up, tried it on our
friends, and started production on what is now a best seller, The Rider.
The idea of locally sourced material is our foundational value and governs the whole design process. Everything used to craft our products, from the leather to our cotton lining is made here in South Africa – and this core value creates the
type of challenge that our team has a passion to solve. We keep pushing with what we’ve got until it meets our standards of excellence and durability.
Chapel is inspired by the joy of watching an idea come to life and the reward of working through a design problem until a simple, beautiful product emerges. All
of our goods meet a local need. Each bag, sleeve and garment is batch produced in small runs that respond to current trends and most importantly, to the demand
we see on the street.
Chapel was founded by Caleb Pedersen in 2009. With him, the team in the studio who hand produce every single product in the range. Our line is available at our
concept store at the Woodstock Exchange and throughout South Africa as well as in select shops in Europe and North America.
