the man. Both Griner and Clarke then ran out onto Alton Road where they observed and flagged down a uniform polica~

car who was occupied by O fice r Chandler. Off icer Chandler not i fied Fire Rescue and headquarters that he had fou ~-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------0

ato the scene and administered emergency treatment. Shortly thereafter the victim was transported via Eastern I >

Ambulance to Mt. Sinai Hospital (Eastern Unit #78)-attendants Ovcen and Szotko. At Mt. Sinai emergency pwere started under the direction of Dr. Weissberq and Dr. Jack Greenberg operated. Dr. Weissberg is the director

Examiners Office. Dr. Wright was verbally given all the pertinent details surrounding the investigation at this

point. Dr. Wright then placed himself in the same position in the chaise lounge chair as was assumed by the victim.

In this position i t was found that for an individual to have shot himself in the chest that i t would be necessary

for the victim to have rested his elbow on the arms of the chair. In this position a right-handedman w o~L d_b r i n g

the gun to the left side of his chest facinq in a iBKRixix downward anqle. This would account for the downwardI

projectory of the wound and the path of the projector which traveled thru the rjght yentrjcal of the hear T downward '

thru the torso of the body coming to rest in the lower abdomen area. Dr. Wright stated that most probably what the :I •

gardners seen when theysaw the victim in an upright sitting position was caused by the shock of the hullP.t and the

According to Officer Ed Avila's report he arrived on the scene at approximately 8:17A.M. at which time h ~ b s e r v e d~ J~

as ked i f the reason was due to a personal problem the victim ~ @ I Xresponded by nodding his head in the affirmit i ve.

At this point the victim was tran sported to Mt. Sinai emergency.

Officer Avila then interviewed th e victim• s wife, Maria, who was at this time st i l l asleep in her bedroom and had n

knowled0e of what had happened. Mrs. Socarras stated that the victim had been under a lot of pressu re recentlI

due to poor business interes t s in Puerto Rico. Mrs. Socarras also statedII

to t h e ~ f e c tthat a man is not a man without honor {it is unknown to her as to exactly what the victim was talkingI

about when making this statement}. Officer Avila then interviewed Antonio Fuentes and his wife Anna who aiso reside

Further interview of Antonio Fuentes by Officer Avila shows that approximately 15 minutes prior to the victim

shooting himself he overheard a telephone conversation between the victim and an unknown oartv in which the victim

s t ated he was going to fly to Santo Domi illQ_in_th_e_DominicanRepublic. Further investiqationrevealed that_the_

victim has been talking to his brother Antonio Prio Socarras who suooosedlv lives locallv a t an address r klated

to Officer Avila as 31 Road Second Street. The conversation was supposedly in reference to some type of banquet

of function in Santo Domingo, A e ~ r ~ hof the scene and the y i c t l m ~guartersfuiled to produce any s u i c i ~ gnotes, 1I

Upon Sgt . Godfrey's arrival he found that Fire Rescue #2 and Dr. Vasquez were performing emergency procedures on

the victim in the chaise lounge in the garage at the rear of the house a t 5070 Alton Road. A .38 colt revolver

was on the concrete floor on the right side of the victim facing in a south-southeast direction. Writer made

no attempt to interview the victim because of the victim's EltiiEiia x condition. Dr. Vasquez who speaks spanish

reported that he asked the victim i f he had shot himself and Socarras stated that he did. Large amounts of blood

were evident on the E I E I ~ I Xconcrete floor directly under the chair where the victim had been lying. The subject
