A GLIMPSE INTO THE LIVES OF EVERYDAY PEOPLE ON CAMPUS

BY SOFIA SYED

“I come from a very small town in New York, where out of my high school we’ve had a total of four division 1 athletes, including me and my brother. Kind of growing up I wasn't the most athletic or anything, I wasn't the tallest, I wasn't the strongest, I wasn't the fastest, so when I told people I’d be a division 1 football player, no matter what it took, people kind of laughed at me and didn't think it was going to happen. I spent a lot of my high school career doing a lot of training people thought was useless, instead of going to the movies in the my spare time, I was busy training with my dad usually. Everybody thought it was kind of ridiculous until about I want to say a month before my high school double session started for my senior year of football, I committed here to the University of Akron. All of the sudden, it went from 'this kid is crazy to oh my gosh would you teach my son how to GRORQJVQDSDQGEHMXVWOLNH\RX,PDFWXDOO\WKHƓUVWdivision 1 football player from my entire county.”
